Can we Talk about QC?
This character fucking perplexes me.
Back in Undertale, QC was the shopkeeper of Snowdin with very little actual lore. Unlike Gerson even, QC was just your introduction to the shop screen and concepts. She doesn't matter. Or she shouldn't at least.
And then you look at her talk dialogue.
"And if you're bored, you can sit outside and watch those wacky skeletons do their thing.
There's two of 'em... Brothers, I think. They just showed up one day and... ... asserted themselves."
Okay. So QC knows about Sans and Papyrus just showing up to Undertale. Not that big a deal.
"Life is the same as usual.
A little claustrophobic...
But... we all know deep down that freedom is coming, don't we?"
O...kaaaaaaay? Freedom. I mean I'm sure it's nothing. Lots of undertale characters mention Freedom. Ya know, kinda that games whole thing.
All in all pretty boring shopkeeper, especially when compared to Gerson.
So why even bring her up? Well, it's cause she's in Deltarune, duh! And her role is...expanded? QC runs the diner in Hometown (named QC's). It's how we even know her name as it wasn't said in Undertale. Which....is weird right? Why name an Undertale NPC in Deltarune? Especially a character who matters so little to everything. She mattered so little in Undertale she didn't even have a name.
QC is shown to be very close to the Dreemurr family, having served Kris and Asriel as kids and even sometimes giving Kris free food. Their behavior is actually quite similar to Ramb, but rather than being Kris's British uncle, she's more like Kris's southern aunt. It's actually quite sweet and nice. Gives some fun character interactions between Kris and Susie too.
So that's it. She's just a small NPC that was given the role of giving Kris backstory and depth. That's sweet.
One small question though....
Why is she on the Gaster List?
Quick summary of Gaster List: Bunch of random characters give responses in the Goner Maker. Kris, Susie, and Noelle give a more specific response (as they're party members) but the rest are more general. The list was basically confirmed to have some sort of relevance in Chapter 4 as the fun gang (+Noelle), Toriel, Undyne, Berdly, and Gerson have all entered dark worlds and we know Asgore is Chapter 5. The other members are characters like Alphys, Catti, Catty, Bratty, Jockington, Rudy, Sans, Papyrus, Asriel, and...
QC.
WHY IS QC ON THE LIST? The implication is that these characters will enter dark worlds, but why QC?
I think QC is the chapter 5 secret boss.
WHY YOU SHOULD ALWAYS BET ON QC SECRET BOSS
Let's actually go over what secret boss has in common, shall we:
1. Every secret boss is associated with a shop/shopkeeper in the chapter (Seam, Spamton, Ramb, Gerson)
2. Every secret boss has a connection to the Dreemurr or Holiday past. (Jevil was one of Kris's OCs; Spamton reached out to Noelle directly; Eram represents Kris's intrusive thoughts and the Knight is most likely a Holiday; Gerson was Dess and Asriels teacher)
3. Secret Bosses are connected to freedom and the desire to attain it (Jevil thinks only he's free; Spamton wants freedom from the string that bind him; Eram wishes to bring out Kris's freedom; Gerson found freedom in death and tells Susie to find freedom from the narrative)
4. They have been getting more and more akin/tied to lightners (Jevil is just a playing card, Spamton is an email that reached out to Noelle and wishes to be a lightner, Eram is the dark thoughts of a lightner, Gerson is the corpse of a lightner).
5. They. All. Laugh.
(EDIT) 6. They lack talk sprites.
So....in chapter 5, the secret boss should potentially be:
A shopkeeper lightner with a connection to the Dreemurr/Holiday family, who has expressed a desire for freedom, and who laughs.
I'M ONTO YOUR GAMES, TRICKY TONY!!!
