An Average Joe

So tired of news stories about people dying on Everest.  It happens!!! Your body literally starts deteriorating after reaching a certain elevation.  Now all of a sudden everyone on the internet is an expert on mountain climbing and thinks Everest should be shut down.  Have I ever been at an elevation even close to anything in the Himalaya? No.  Will I ever? Probably not, unless I end up getting to do an Everest Base Camp trek (dream trip).  But I’m pretty sure those climbers KNOW THE RISKS.  Don’t shut down the mountain just because the environment is known for killing people.  99% if not 100% of Everest climbers have plenty of high altitude glacier experience.  They know what can happen.  Regardless of how I feel about Everest climbing (a separate rant), I don’t think it should be shut down.  That’ll shut down many people’s dreams.
