So my understanding is that they can all understand each other because one of them speaks the native tongue. So all 8 can speak Korean because Sun speaks Korean. All 8 can understand and speak Hindi because Kala speaks Hindi. Same goes for Icelandic, Swahili, German, and English. It would make sense that as viewers, who are on some level, part of the cluster as well, that we would understand what is being said in our own native tongue, which happens to be English for me. (Not sure if it’s dubbed for international Netflix?) Either way, I believe that the Wachowski siblings purposefully intended it to be this way…For us to hear English even though the characters themselves, in reality, they are speaking their own native tongues.
