For a while, I was doing a great job. I had an article out on this blog once a week. I was writing new poems, editing old stories, and drafting a novel plus outlining a new fanfiction. I was on a roll. Sometime during the winter months, I slowed down. I wasn’t as interested in my novel, I was bored with fanfiction, I had no new ideas for poems or stories, and I had nothing to say in articles. My blog got quiet, and I’d stare at my google drive, uninspired to open anything. So I started wondering: how do I start writing again? How do I force myself to fall back in love with storytelling?

Step 1: Forgiveness

It’s okay that you slowed down or stopped writing. It’s okay that you missed blog posts, or updates. One thing I learned in college was about the vicious cycle of guilt when it comes to projects. I’d have work to do and I wouldn’t do it. Then, I would feel guilty trying to do anything else (other work, video games, going out) because I felt like I should do the work I missed first. If the due date was past, I couldn’t let it go. I had failed to meet that goal. 

Breaking the cycle of guilt is your number one priority. When you sit down to write, don’t waste your time saying “oh, but I owe them a blog post from three weeks ago…” or “I haven’t updated my fanfiction in a month.” That does not matter, you are forgiven, and it is okay. Take a moment and write whatever you want to write. Get that out there. If writing is your job, focus on your next deadline, not the one that you missed. I promise that’s easier. You can go back some other time. 

Step 2: Write Anything

I’ve written before on how to start writing, which for many people is the hardest part. If you don’t have anything that you want to say, you can just start typing. Write every word that comes to mind until you begin to make sentences. It’ll suck, but that’s okay. It helps make writing a habit, and it’s something. 

Step 3: Writing Prompts and Writing Buddies

I’m lucky enough to live with my best friend and a fellow writer. When writing and I are on a break and trying to rekindle our love, I reach out to him and we google writing prompts, pick the first one, and go. We set a time for 15 - 30 minutes and use that time to write based on the prompt, then we share. Sometimes the stories are pretty good, but usually they’re silly and nonsense. Again, it’s about making writing into a habit, so this is a great way to get going. So, grab your friends and force them to write with you. It’s more fun in numbers.

So, the body count for the Earthquake that shook Italy is up to 250 now, and I’d like to try a thing.

A few years back (or not so few) on lj we held charity commission rounds, and they were a great idea. Fic authors, artists, musicians, but even podficcers, playlist makers and so on so forth offered their talent and time in exchange for donations to relief efforts for various natural disasters happening around the world. I believe we did something for the flood in australia, for the catastrophe in south east asia, for the tsunami in japan and for the emergency in somalia, and it was a pretty amazing idea, methinks. It gave people who donated something back for their kindness, and it gave people the chance to help even if they couldn’t pay from their own pocket.

I’m gonna resurrect the concept if anyone is interested. Unfortunately I am in no position to donate since I literally don’t have money to pay my own bills, but I have tons of time to spare. I will write you fic if you send me the paypal receipt of your donation to any of the organizations I will link to at the end of this post. 

1 (one) Euro will get you at least 100 words. This means 10 euros will get you about 1000 or more words, which generally equates to 1.5 pages for me. Please keep in mind that that is the bare minimum you will get, if to wrap up your story it will take me more than that, the rest of the wordcount will be on the house. You will not get a subpar, rushed product because I’m trying to stick to the wordcount.

- Kingdom Hearts, mainly the org XIII folks and the Destiny and Clocktower trios. - Dragon Age, any game. Origins, DA2, Inquisition, you name it. I will write your warden/inquisitor with whomever, I’m game.  - Your own OCs. Please talk to me about your ocs i love ocs I want to marry everyone’s ocs. - Mass Effect, again, any character, I fucking love everyone. Please someone commission me Legion based stuff I have a physical need of it I miss them so much - Straight or queer, any variation of it, I’m game.  - Any genre but porn. Horror, romance, adventure, angst, fluff, that’s all good.

I will not write

- Kink/NSFW (not tryna be snobby I’m just rubbish at writing that stuff tbh); that includes gore, noncon, and incestuous relationships/situations,  - ISMs Apology: no condoning of racism, sexism, ableism,or anything that will clash with my personal views. If you’re following me you probably aren’t the kind of person to ask for that stuff, but better to be safe than sorry.
