WHY IS EVERYTHING SMUT??? I JS WANT MY FICTIONAL MAN TO CUDDLE ME, KISS ME, AND PRAISE ME?! WHY AND HOW TF IS HE MORE HORNY THAN AN OVULATING WOMAN? istg i will cut his dick.
Honestly I wrote this years ago when BG3 was just coming out. I donât know why I never posted it but I figured now was as good a time as any đ
Astarion was the first in camp to wake, confused as he realized he was not in his usual spot by the fire. However, his mind calmed as the memory of last night returned to him. A smirk forming on his lips as he glanced towards your sleeping form beside him. Last night was the first night he was able to convince you to lay with him. The first stage of his plan was unfolding nicely. That was all it was, of course. How else would he ensure your loyalty to him? He was worried for a while. You resisted him for much longer than he thought possible. Never has he had to chase after someoneâs affection. A hunt, maybe, but pining? That was not in his nature. And he was glad it was finally over. Heâs won.
Unbeknownst to him, Astarionâs smirk slowly fell into a smile as he continued to study your sleeping form. Before he even realized it, his hand had reached out to brush loose strands of your hair out of your face. The action barely began before he stopped himself, trying to snap out of it. What was he doing? He got what he came for so now he should leave. Right? There was no point in waiting for you to wake to engage in pointless pillow talk. So why couldnât he seem to stand? To head back to his tent and get ready for the adventure youâd surely have today. It should have been a simple feat but⌠you looked⌠peaceful. No, weak he corrected. You let your guard down too easily. If he wanted to he could drain you of your blood and you could do nothing to stop it. Thatâs what he should be wanting to do, he thought. However, as he continued to stare at your sleeping form, he couldnât help his feelings of contentment. He felt almost at ease. Vulnerable, he corrected again. He should be thinking things like this. Feeling things like this. It wasnât like him. That wasnât the plan.
The battle between the two sides of his mind was enough to get him up off the ground next to you. He stood rather abruptly and stared out over the waterâs edge, fighting every urge he had to turn back to you and pull you back closer to him. Fighting against the want to feel your skin against his. Feel your breath against his cheek as you lightly laugh at one of his snarky remarks. You never meant to, he knew. He knew you always kicked yourself for encouraging him. But you couldnât help it. The thought made him smile. He nearly let out a chuckle before again pushing those thoughts away. Your feelings towards him just proved his plan was working, thatâs all. Nothing more. Nothing at all.
âNot staying for a cuddle?â he heard you remark from your spot on the ground.
Sarcasm he decided. Surely you wouldnât say anything of that sort seriously. Would you? No. This was just a fling. Some fun to be had to forget about your enemies for a few moments. Nothing more.
âWe should join the others,â he decided plainly. Your playful smile dropped from your lips.
âSo soon?â
He nodded. âWe likely have a long day ahead of us, yes? Best get going before it gets too late.â
You furrowed your eyebrows in confusion but stood up nonetheless. You noticed Astarion actively avoiding your gaze as you reached for your clothes. It was as if the thought of seeing your body repulsed him.
In truth, Astarion didnât know how well he could control his thoughts, or his actions for that matter if he saw you in all your glory in the bright of day. He knew he would not be able to control his want to capture you in another kiss, perhaps a repeat of last night if he got the chance. Instead, he kept his gaze pinned to the floor, quickly reaching around you to grab his own clothing. As soon as he was dressed, he stalked back towards your camp, leaving you behind in confusion.
---
As the days went on, you noticed Astarion distancing himself from you where he could help it. You noticed he was never caught in a conversation alone with you. He never set his tent up anywhere near yours when you would camp for the night. Never asked for a repeat of that nightâs events. You thought that surely there would be no end to his teasing once you finally gave in to him. Instead, it came to an abrupt stop. No more flirtatious remarks, snarky comments, nothing. Not that either of you would admit it, but it was visibly taking its toll on you.
Astarion felt guilty, sure. But he would never admit it. He pushed any thoughts of it away. He shouldnât be feeling guilty. He shouldnât be feeling anything! Surely it was a spell placed on him, you were quite adept at them. Perhaps he just had to wait and theyâd fade away. Nearly a week passed before he thought they could truly be his own emotions. But they were emotions heâd never felt before, he wasnât sure how to handle them. Whatever he decided, it had to be soon. He saw how this whole thing was taking a toll on you. Both of you, really. A fact that was most noticeable in the heat of battle. You were distracted, never fully there. He always brushed the thought away until you were nearly killed by one of the Absoluteâs thralls.
None of you saw it coming. You had never once been downed in battle. Something Astarion always admired you for. However, the bastard got an upper hand on you. Some elf that you encountered on the road. No one saw him waiting in the shadows for your party to pass by. No one warned you in time. One hit was all it took to send you to the ground in pain. All it took to truly infuriate Astarion. While Shadowheart and Karlach rushed to your side to aid you, Astarion charged the attacker, ripping him apart in such a way that would cause even a grown owlbear to cringe in disgust. He didnât deserve the mercy a quick death would provide. How dare he lay his hands on you. Harm you. Astarion would not stand for it. His actions quickly gained the attention of the other members of your party. Sure they all knew that Astarion was not one to shy away from gore, but his actions went further than theyâd ever seen him go. By the time he rejoined the group, his torso was thickly sprayed with the attackerâs blood.
âWe should make camp for the night,â He spoke, ignoring the looks from everyone around him. âAllow you time to recover.â
âAnd give you a chance to wash I hope,â Shadowheart grimaced, but agreed in the end.
---
Once you all had made camp, Astarion contemplating whether or not he should check on you. Surely thatâd be something that a friend would do. Right? There were no rules stating you couldnât be friends.
Before he could sway his mind one way or the other, you spoke up, saving him from the civil war blaring in his head.
âI hear you rather gruesomely defended me on the road today,â you said with almost a chuckle, startling him.
âYes,â he chuckled, âYes perhaps I did go a bit far.â
âOn the contrary,â you assured him, placing your hand on his shoulder. âIâve come to thank you.â
Astarion was frozen. Half of him wanted nothing more than to grab your other arm as well and hold you to him as tight as possible, showering your face with kisses. The other part wanted to make some snary comment, distancing him from you and keeping his walls up.
âAre you alright?â you asked him with furrowed eyebrows, removing your hand from his shoulder as you saw how it affected him.
âYes,â he replied too quickly. âYes, of course, Iâm fine.â
âAre you sure? Cause I-â
âOh for Godâs sake would you please stop caring about me for one second!â he finally exploded.
âExcuse me?â
âGods this shouldnât be so vexing, but you. Your very presence. The way you speak to me just drives me mad!â
You stepped back with your eyes widened in shock at his sudden outburst. You werenât sure if you should be offended, hurt, or angry. So instead you settled on silence.
âLook,â he continued. âI had a plan. A very, simple plan. Seduce you, sleep with you, manipulate your feelings so youâd never turn on me.â You could hear how his voice wavered, hinting at breaking as he finally unburdened himself. âAll you had to do⌠was fall for it. And Gods did you make me work for it. Iâve never met anyone whoâs resisted me for so long. But that effort? That chase? Made you all the more rare of a prize. And what a prize you are. Iâve had to fight every instinct in my body not to give in to you. Itâd be so easy. Itâd be blissful. But itâs unfamiliar territory for me.â
If you were shocked before, it did not compare in the slightest to how you felt now. You had been rendered completely speechless. Astarion stared back at you, his eyes begging you to say something. At this point, heâd take anything.
âSo⌠what are you saying?â Heâd take anything but that, he sighed as you found the words to speak.
âI donât know how to make this more clear for you,â he said with a sarcastic chuckle. âYouâre⌠incredible. Everything about you. I find myself infatuated by every little thing you do.â
âSo you⌠have feelings for me?â
âYes,â he hissed, stepping closer to you so you could feel his breath tickling your face. âAnd it's killing me.â
You were rendered silent again. You werenât sure how to react. In the end, you decided that words were not the way to go. Instead, you put your hands on either side of his neck and pulled him towards you, capturing his lips in a passionate kiss, not knowing if perhaps it would be your last.
Just a few moments passed before he pulled himself away from you, no easy feat for him. âI donât know how to give you what you need,â he said quickly, as if ashamed of himself. âYou deserve something real. I want to give you that. But I donât know how.â
As he looked down in shame, you moved his chin back up to look at you, kissing him again only softer this time. âI can teach you,â you offered. âThis⌠whatever this is⌠I donât want to lose it.â
âIâm not sure how easily you can undo 200 years of me being the rake,â he chuckled.
âWell I am going to try,â you decided. âNo matter how long it takes. Iâm not giving up.â
Astarion smiled towards the ground, removing your hands from his neck to hold them in his own. âI donât know what the future holds, but this?â he said, signaling to your hands together, lifting one up to press a kiss to your knuckles. âThis is nice.â

are you still working on the Elijah mikaelson Bridgeton fic?
I'm sorry it took so long đđ Lots of life changes have been occurring. But here it is, a small blurb of what could be the start of a series if you guys like it.
The Social Season
Pairing: Elijah Mikaelson x reader
Summary: The Mikaelsons have returned to London for this year's social season. No girl had ever caught Elijah's eye before, until now.
Word Count: 2772
Masterlist
London 1814
The London social season had been in full swing by the time the Mikaelsons had returned to the city during one of Lady Danburyâs events. Elijah and his siblings had barely walked through the doors before ruthless mamas began to smooth our their daughterâs dresses while eyeing them from across the room. Elijah was the prize, certainly, but if any woman was to catch a Mikaelson son at all they would consider it a win. Rebekah had also never had a difficulty keeping her dance card full.Â
It was well past the first soiree of the season, but it was the first that the Mikaelson siblings had made an appearance at. The marriage-minded missus of the city (and their mamas) always kept a keen eye out for them. While they may not have had the status of the Duke, the Mikaelson family was both well known, respected, and equally as feared. Not even Lady Whistledown dared to write more than their names.Â
âMust we return to this god-awful city every year?â Niklaus groaned as the wave of young bachelorettes swarmed towards them.Â
âSpeak for yourself,â Kol smiled, watching the ladies with a much different expression. âI rather like being adored.âÂ
âMikaelsons!â they all heard coming from the opposite direction. Upon inspection they saw none other than Anthony Bridgerton advancing towards them. Rebekah and Elijah turned toward him with bright smiles with Niklaus and Kol tended to the hoard of ladies with empty dance cards.Â
âBridgerton,â Elijah greeted with a smile, meeting his arm in the middle to shake his hand in greeting.Â
âYouâve missed a great amount in the short few weeks youâve been absent this season.âÂ
âYes, well, we had some family business to tie up back in the states across the water.âÂ
âNo matter, you are all here now. You must join our family for a promenade sometime soon so I might regale you with all the happenings from the season thus far.âÂ
âIâm sure weâll catch up plenty with a reading of the last couple Lady Whistledown issues,â Rebekah remarked with a small chuckle.
âYes but surely, sister, as you know as well as I Whistledown doesnât know everything,â Elijah corrected before turning back to Anthony with a smile. âWeâll be glad to join you, Bridgerton. You shall name the day.âÂ
âFantastic! Oh and we must not forget the ball my mother is hosting at our estate in the country. Youâd all be welcome there as my guests if you so desire.âÂ
âI would be honored, my lord,â Rebekah said with a smile, bowing her head slightly. It was no secret that she fancied the man. Her whole family could see it. While Rebekah had no intention of being courted or heavens forbid marrying anyone, she could still dream about the life she might live were she able to. The beautiful family that might surround her. The number of children she and the viscount might have been able to have together. But that was nothing more than a fantasy. Precisely the reason that Elijah was hardly ever seen taking any young ladies to the floor. He felt it foolish to fill them with futile hopes of him proposing. Every respectable lady of the ton desired marriage, children, a real family. Something none of the Mikaelsons would be able to provide.Â
Nonetheless, the Mikaelsons always appeared before the ton each year during the height of the social season just long enough to maintain appearances. Not to mention, Kol had not found an easier afternoon snack than that of a young lady hoping for a betrothal. They never killed any of the members of the ton, of course. Such a high standing society member would surely be missed. Nothing a bit of the vampiresâ own blood and a little compulsion couldnât resolve.
âYou must meet my dear cousin,â Anthony stated after a brief moment. âSheâs come to live with us after the passing of her mother, my aunt.âÂ
Anthony turned as he beckoned you over to them. Elijah sighed as he looked down at his feet, readjudsting his posture to be more proper as he awaited your arrival. When his eyes met yours, however, his reluctance towards the introduction vanished.Â
âMikaelsons,â Anthony continued. âThis is my cousin, miss Y/n Ledger.âÂ
âA pleasure,â you said with a polite smile and a perfect curtsy.Â
âThe pleasure is mine,â Elijah replied quickly, offering his hand for you to take. Once you softly placed your hand into his, Elijah brought it ever so slowly up to his lips as he touched the softest kiss to your gloved hand; an action that did not go unnoticed by Rebekah, nor the ravenous mamas behind them. Elijah was not one to give more than a curt nod to young ladies introducing themselves. âLady Ledger-â
âJust miss Ledger,â you corrected. âLady Ledger was my grandmother.âÂ
While the response was simple, it answered many of Elijahâs questions. For one, you were not married. If you had been married you would either hold a title as a lady or hold a different last name than your grandmother. Second, your mother was not married. Had your father been a Ledger himself, your mother would hold the title of Lady Ledger, not your grandmother. As that title is still her grandmotherâs to hold, your mother hadnât married a lord to gain the title herself. Thirdly, she must be related to the Bridgertons through the sister of the current vicountesses Bridgerton.Â
âPardon me, Miss Ledger. Would you care to do me the honor of a d-â
âY/n, surely you must join me for a cool glass of lemonade,â Rebekah interrupted, linking her arm through yours as she dragged you away to the drinks table.Â
Elijah stood dumbfounded as you both walked away. Rebakah knew it was improper to interrupt, but after living for 800 years she couldnât come to care. Elijah watched your expression closely. He expected a protest, or for you to at least look back towards him. There wasnât a chance you didnât catch what he wanted to ask you. Any other lady would have jumped at the opportunity to be led to the floor by a Mikaelson. Especially by Elijah, being the eldest for all intents and purposes.Â
As soon as the two of you were gone, Elijah was swarmed by the ton much like his brothers were just moments before. Nikalus and Kol could not agree to another single dance, having agreed to partner with a different lady for each one, so naturally the crowd has turned next
ââ towards both Elijah and Anthony, knowing this was the season the viscount longed to secure a wife.Â
Anthony looked towards Elijah with raised eyebrows as he let out a deep sigh before having to face the wolves.Â
---Â
As the week went on, Elijah and Rebekah agreed to join the Bridgerton family in a turn about the park in Mayfair. Rebekah loved their family. She envied Violetâs ability to have so many children. A life she longed for herself. Elijah, on the other hand, wanted to know more about you.Â
âBridgertons,â Elijah greeted the family with a nod as they approached. âMiss Ledger,â he said toward you.
âMy lord,â you greeted back with a smile and a small bow.
âWould you care for a turnabout the lake?â he offered, holding his arm out for you.Â
âOh,â you said with a slight tone of surprise, looking back at the Bridgerton family. Before you could find the words to accept or deny, Violet spoke up for you.Â
âShe would love one,â Violet beamed with a nod, pulling you forward to take his arm.Â
You chuckled in defeat as you wrapped you arm around his, hand resting on the crook of his elbow.Â
The two of you had barely gotten ten feet from the rest of the family before he bagan to bombard you with questions. You didnât mind, of course. Most most began conversations this way, especially when âinterviewingâ their potential matches.Â
âSo I really must ask,â he began. âHow is it that youâre not married yet?âÂ
You chuckled at his question, one of the ones you expected to hear first. âWell, my mother had me out of wedlock. If it wasnât for or connection to the Bridgertons then I would be labeled a bastard child and thrown out of society entirely. Instead, my mother trained me from a young age so I could have the perfect match. She was determined. Too determined. Her determination ended up turning away a lot of possible suitors.â
As you spoke, you noticed Elijah was genuinely interested in what you had to say. He wasnât spaced out as you rambled on, he didnât seem annoyed or simply waiting for you to be finished. He wanted to know about you. About your life.
âAs the seasons past, and I got older, everyone began to lose interest. Iâve been officially put âon the shelfâ as they would call it, at the ripe age of three and twenty.â
âYet you still attend events with the rest of the ton?â he questioned.Â
âLiving with the Bridgertons comes with a surplus of invitations,â you explained with a smile. âAnd Eloise needs encouragement through her first season.âÂ
Elijah let out a laugh at that. âI pity any man who tries to tame her.âÂ
âNot possible,â you rebutted with a laugh of your own. âEloise is one horse that cannot be tamed.â
As you continued to walk, you noticed many eyes turned to stare at the two of you.Â
âAnd what of you?â you asked him. It was his turn to answer your questions.Â
âWhat of me?âÂ
âSurely you have your number of available matches. Why have you gone so long without securing one?âÂ
Elijah chucked while glancing to the floor, watching your feet walk in sync. âIn truth Iâve never had the desire to settle down with anyone,â he explained. âIt didnât seem like the type of life I was meant to live.âÂ
âAnd now?â you asked. Both of your steps had halted as you turned to face one another, his eyes searching yours as if trying to find the words to answer you.Â
âNowâŚâ he began, not truly knowing what his answer was. âNow, Iâm not sure what the future holds for me.âÂ
The two of you stayed in silence you a couple moments longer, stuck searching the others eyes for answers to questions you didnât know. It wasnât until you remembered where you were that you tore your eyes from his, clearing your throat.
âWe should make our way back,â you said simply. âTheyâll be serving tea under the gazebo soon. Would you and your sister care to join us?âÂ
It was Elijahâs turn tp clear his own throat, facing back towards the path in front of you as he continued to walk.
âIndeed,â he nodded. âThat would be quite agreeable.â
After a few moments of silence, you spoke up again. âYou must join us in Aubrey Hall next week.â
âYes, Lord Bridgerton mentioned retiring to the country for a ball his mother is hosting.âÂ
âHeâs invited the Sharma family to join us before the rest of the invited guests arrive, I insist your family do the same.âÂ
âAre you certain?â he asked with raised eyebrows. âWe would not wish to be a burden.â
âItâs no trouble at all,â you assured him. âThere is plenty of space and I could use the company while Anthony is busy in his dance of courtship. I shall discuss it with the family upon our return.âÂ
As the two of you walked back towards the Bridgertons, you felt eyes on you left and right. Both lords and ladys staring at the pair of you with two feelings on their mind. Confusing and envy.Â
---
As the Mikaelsons dismounted from their carriage at Aubrey Hall, the entirety of the Bridgerton family was waiting to greet them.Â
âLord Mikaelson,â Violet smiled, greeting him with open arms.Â
âElijah, please,â he corrected, bowing his head slightly towards her. âYouâve invited us to be guests in your home, its only fair that you might call us by our given names. You know my sister, Rebekah,â he continued, motioning towards his siblings. âAnd might I introduce my brother, Niklaus and Kol.âÂ
âA pleasure, Lady Bridgerton,â Kol greeted with a bow of his own, followed by Niklaus.
âYou have a lovely home,â he spoke up with a warm smile.Â
âWhile youâre here you may think of it as your own,â Violet began before motioning towards the front doors. âPlease, we were just about to sit down for tea. The Sharmas should be arriving any moment.â
As the group walked into the house, Elijahâs face lit up with a smile seeing you sitting in the parlor, waiting for everyone else.Â
âMy lord,â you smiled, standing up to offer a quick curtsy. âIâm pleased you could make it.â
Elijah grabbed your hand before your eyes raised to meet his, bringing it once more up to lightly caress it with his lips. Your breath hitches in your throat as this time, you werenât wearing your gloves.Â
âI wouldnât miss it,â his said, looking back at you with a smile, you hand staying in his while he looks up at you.Â
His eyes held yours for another moment before you heard a throat clear behind you. Elijah turned to see Kol with a sly smirk on his face.
âAh, yes, miss Ledger allow me to introduce my brothers, Kol and Niklaus.âÂ
Both men in question smiled warmly as they each gave the the girl a quick bow.Â
âBrother,â Elijah continued. âIâd like you both to meet miss Y/n Ledger. Cousin to the Bridgertons.âÂ
âPleased to make your acquaintance,â you said with a smile of your own, giving a small curtsy.Â
âMiss Ledger,â Niklaus starting, stepping forward to be next to Elijah. âI hear youâre quite the artist. I myself dabble in painting every now and again, Iâd love to see your work.âÂ
Elijah looked towards his brother uneasily. Anyone who overheard him may have taken his comment as a kind remark, but Elijah didnât miss the calculating grin on his face. He had an agenda.Â
âAn artist?â Elijah repeated with a slight tone of surprise. He wasnât sure how his brother came to know this.
âYes, brother. Iâve done my research,â Klaus answered back simply.Â
âOh,â you began, a bit take off guard by his knowledge of you. âWell Iâve tried my hand at painting every now and again, but Benedict is the true artist of the family. Itâs him youâd be wanting to speak with about it.âÂ
âMiss Ledger I donât recall ever seeing you on the dance floor,â Kol spoke up next. âYou must allow me to lead you sometime. I am, after all, the best dancer in the family.âÂ
âPerhaps the best male dancer,â Rebekah spoke up, seemingly appearing beside him. âBoth of you, stop overwhelming the poor girl.âÂ
âOh, I really donât mind, Lady Mikaelson.â
âRebekah, please,â she almost scoffed. âTitles make me feel much too old.âÂ
âI couldnât possibly-â
âI insist,â she interrupted. âIn any case, we are all most comfortable being called by our given names. When one hears the name âMikaelsonâ being thrown from across the ballroom we never know for who it is intended for.âÂ
âVery well, Rebekah. Then you all must call me Y/n. Especially here in the country, away from the rules of London society.âÂ
âLord Mikaelson,â Violet could be heard from behind, approaching the small group in the parlor.Â
âAgain, Elijah really is fine,â he corrected again with a chuckle.
âElijah,â she repeated, a warm smile on her face. âYou really must allow Y/n to take you on a tour of the grounds. I hear youâre quite the reader and my late husband, Edmund, had quite the collection in his library.âÂ
âBut aunt Violet,â you started before Elijah could give an answer. âI told the kitchen staff that I would assist in serving the tea.âÂ
Violet waved you off. âI shall send down Eloise to help them. You go on and show Elijah your uncleâs library upstairs.âÂ
âI would love to see it,â Elijah added, urging you with his smile.
âVery well,â you nodded. Elijah help out his arm, motioning for you to go first, following close behind as you led him up to the Bridgertonâs library.Â
âMight they be needing a chaperone, Lady Bridgerton?â Rebekah asked her with a sly grin, catching onto Violetâs schemes.Â
âIâm not sure as to who you are referring,â she replied with an innocent shrug, turning back to return to the rest of her family.Â
I've been playing with those AI voice generators and decided to make a lil taste of the fic I'm working on rn for Elijah Mikaelson living in the Bridgerton universe...

Summary: Based on the song Wallpaper by Megan Cormwell. You and Sebastian had always been close until a new student transferred to Hogwarts. When the Yule ball arrives at Hogwarts, you seem to have no one to attend with. However, Ominis Gaunt, seeing how Sebastian has affected you, swopped in to save the day.
Warnings: None I think? Sebastian and MC being cold-hearted and straight-up rude. Fluffy/protective Ominis â¤
The Yule ball had finally come to Hogwarts with Christmas time fast approaching. Being from a pure-blooded family, you were not unfamiliar with balls. Even in the wizarding world, the social season was still in full swing when the term ended each year, leaving your parents plenty of time to throw you into ball gowns and parade you around like cattle for sale. So while the Yule ball would not be your first, it was the first you had been looking forward to. At least, thatâs how you felt at the beginning of the year. When the new year started, it was no question that you and Sebastian would attend the ball together. You had not been courting in any sense of the word, but you had always been there for each other when it mattered. You had always been there to support him, and he you. But then, the new student transferred to Hogwarts.Â
Initially, you wouldnât have batted an eye at Sebatianâs interest in the new student. In fact, you had encouraged him. But then he began to change. It started with missed study dates in the library. No big deal, Sebastian hated to study anyways. Then, it was missed meals. Maybe he slept in, maybe he forgot to do the assignment from the night before and needs time to make it up. No big deal. And then, youâd see them together. When Sebastian was supposed to be with you, he was with them. Every once in a while turned into every day of the week. It was like you didnât even exist anymore.Â
Your breaking point was when he ran into you one night in your common room. After being ghosted so many times in the library, you moved your personal study session to the comfort of the Slytherin common room by the fireplace. It felt less lonely there. One day, Sebastian rushed in beside where you were sat. His tie was loosened and he was pacing back and forth, muttering incoherently to himself.Â
âHas something happened?â you had asked him after watching for a few moments. Something clearly had him bothered.Â
âY/n!â he exclaimed in a tone of surprise. âWhat are you doing here?âÂ
âStudying,â you stated quite bluntly, motioning to your stack of books. âAs I have every day for the last few weeks.âÂ
After a few more paces back and forth and a deep sigh, Sebastian spoke again. âCan I vent to you for a moment?â he asked.Â
âYou know youâre always welcome to.âÂ
âThank you,â he said, taking a deep breath as if to gather up all of his thoughts into something coherent. âIâve just found out that MC has been fraternizing with goblins,â he spat with disgust. Your concern dropped slightly at the mention of their name.Â
âReally?â you had replied half-heartedly. It wouldnât have mattered anyways as he didnât seem to even hear you.Â
âGoblins! I mean can you believe it? Out of all the people in the world, they just had to ask a goblin for help. After everything? With Anne? At Gringgots?âÂ
âGringgots?â you interrupted. âWhat happened at Gringots? Did one of the workers do something?âÂ
Sebastian, realizing his mistake, quickly put his hand over his mouth. âForget I said anything,â he said quickly, beginning to leave the room.Â
âSebastian!â you called after him. âWait! Please!â He faltered for just a moment, his back still facing you as you spoke. âWe used to tell each other everything. Whatâs changed? Have I done something?âÂ
He sighed but still made no move to face you. âJust⌠please donât tell MC I said anything to you, okay?â
You stood in silence for a moment, questioning in your head if this was truly happening. âO- Of course,â you managed.Â
âThank you,â he said once more before going up the stairs to his dorm, leaving you alone by the fireplace.Â
Not only had he come to you to vent about someone else after not speaking to you in weeks, but he didnât even seem to notice or care about your presence until you spoke up. At that moment, the common room had never felt so lonely.Â
---
It was finally time for the Yule ball and you had been dreading every second. Up until this point, you had not even thought about what was to happen now that you and Sebastian havenât been speaking. You didnât make the effort to secure another escort as it never crossed your mind. And no one cared to ask you since they too are used to assuming you and him did everything together. For a while, you had seriously considered not going to the ball at all. Why condemn yourself to seeing everyone else so happy? However, in the end, you decided that wallowing in your own self-pity wouldnât do you any good either. Besides, as much as you complained about balls to your mother, you rather liked playing dress up for the night and getting to feel like a princess. Perhaps it would make you feel better in the end. Â
When leaving your dorm, you felt absolutely beautiful. It had been months since you wore anything this exquisite. With your hair done and a light tint added to your lips and cheeks, you did truly feel like royalty. All these feelings left you the moment you descended the stairs to the great hall.Â
The room was crowded, everyone who didnât go home for winter break had been there, but your eyes were scanning the room for only one other. When you found him, your heart began to soar. He was looking at you with more love and adoration than you had ever seen before. You thought maybe this could be a turning point for you both. That was until his gaze moved, following another form coming down the stairs beside you. He was never looking at you, he was looking at them. You might as well not have existed at that moment, as his gaze went right through you like you were a sheet of glass. If not for your pride, you would have turned back to your dormitory at that same moment. But people were watching, and you wouldnât let him get the best of you. Not this time.Â
When the dancing started, you couldnât help but watch the two of them together on the floor. They moved in perfect harmony like they were made for each other. And you stood to the side, seemingly invisible to them. You felt as if you were blended in with the wallpaper. This was a new feeling for you. At your parentsâ balls, you were the diamond of the party. Everyone wanted a dance with you. Youâd never been the wallflower before. But here, you were untouchable. Hardly anyone would even spare you a glance.
Suddenly, you heard someone clear their throat beside you. âYou look far too beautiful tonight to not be on the dance floor,â he said.
You turned and let out a small chuckle when you saw the voice belonged to Omins Gaunt. âAnd how would you know how I look tonight?â you asked him with a smirk. âItâs not as if you could see me and chose for yourself.â
âNo but I was standing next to Garrenth Weasly when you walked in,â he explained simply. Now it was he who sported a smirk on his face. âWhen he told Leander to look your way as well I could practically hear the breath leave their lungs.â At this, you werenât sure what to say. As if he knew the effect his words had on you, Ominis simply held out his arm. âNow how about that dance?âÂ
He led you to the center of the floor with all the confidence that a blind man could have in a room full of people. When the music began, he took his position across from you.Â
âDo you know this dance?â you asked him. He chuckled, though it sounded more like a scoff.
âYou know, youâre not the only one of high social standing Ms. L/n,â he said teasingly.Â
You laughed. âWell, I wasnât sure if your parents had still forced you to learn all of these ridiculous dances. Being blind and all.âÂ
As the music started, you both began to move in sync with it, along with your other classmates in attendance.Â
âI have to admit,â he started, âI prefer dancing to most other day-to-day activities.âÂ
âIs that so?âÂ
Ominis nodded as he took your hand, twirling you as the music commanded before pulling you back to his chest, your other hand on his shoulder and his on your waist.Â
âDancing is the one thing I donât require guidance for, once I learned the steps. I know where I need to be at every moment in the music, and where everyone else will be at most any given moment.â
âThat⌠actually makes sense,â you said with a small nod. âWhy havenât I seen you at any of our balls throughout the summer?âÂ
âMy parents didnât see a point in bringing me,â he shrugged. âThey figured youâd be courted by Sebastian as soon as we came of age.â
At the mention of Sebastian, you turned to see him dancing with MC. They looked so happy together.Â
âDo you think heâll start to court them when the term ends?â you sighed. You couldnât be upset.Â
No one stole him from you. He wasnât yours to steal.Â
âHey,â Ominis said, pulling you from your thoughts. He hooked his finger under your chin and turned your head to look at him. âDonât think about them anymore. Not tonight. Just keep your eyes on me.âÂ
You took a deep breath and nodded your head, continuing to move with Ominis. As the music crescendoed, everyone in the room lifted their partners into the air, the feeling of the wind brushing the peak of your cheeks was almost euphoric. For the first time in weeks, Sebastian was not the first thought on your mind. It wasnât until this moment that you realized heâs been clouding your thoughts for far too long. The hope that maybe something romantic would blossom between you two kept you from seeing possibility in anybody else. But the truth was, Ominis had always been here on the sidelines. Waiting for when you needed someone to fall back on. The way you were feeling right now was how he felt every day you favored Sebastianâs attention. Â
When he pulled you back to his chest, you rested your head on Ominisâs shoulder and wrapped both arms around his neck, causing the boy to jum[ slightly.
âThank you,â you said softly.Â
âFor what?âÂ
âFor always being here for me. Even when I donât notice right away. Youâve always been there for me.âÂ
Ominis smiled into your hair, brushing it back slightly as he continued to sway you back and forth as you simply enjoyed one anotherâs embrace. As the current song ended, he pulled back from you so you could look him in the eye. âI will always be here for you,â he said, taking your hands again. The next song began to start up again and Ominis smirked, taking position for the next dance. âNow, letâs give these blokes something to stare at, shall we?âÂ
You began to laugh as Ominis led you to the center of the floor, exaggerating each dip and stride to catch the attention of everyone in the room. You followed suit. As you both danced and twirled around the other, the rest of the room couldnât help but stare and gawk at how well you complimented each other. Like you were made perfectly for the other. While Sebastian always seemed to outshine you, Ominis knew just how to make you shine brighter. Bright enough to catch the man in questionâs attention itself. But you didnât care. The way Ominis danced with you made any thought of Sebastian go from the back of your mind to not existent at all. A feeling that you never wanted to let go of.Â

Mermaids.
That was the quest the dread pirate Munson decided to take his crew on today. Were the crew scared? Yes. But they knew better than to go against Eddie when he put his mind to it. No matter how badly they wanted to scream âHAVE YOU COMPLETELY LOST IT?! WEâLL BE KILLED!âÂ
But Eddie was their captain. What he says goes. Even if it may be a death sentence.Â
âAll hands! Batten down the hatches!â Eddie was heard calling out from his spot behind the wheel. âWatch out for those waves!âÂ
âItâs the mermaids,â his first mate and right hand man, Steve, had concluded. âTheyâre protecting the cove.âÂ
âWell, theyâve yet to encounter us. Gonna take more that a few splashes of water to turn us around. Right men?!âÂ
Small shouts of agreement came from the rest of the crew, hurriedly securing everything on the deck so it wasnât lost to the waves.Â
âDrop a rowboat!â Eddie next commanded. âWe must row the rest of the way in.âÂ
The men followed in suit, running towards the ropes that help up their rowboats.Â
âNow,â Eddie continued. âWhich of you is joining me in the cove?âÂ
Everyone looked around at one another, none volunteering. Eddie looked at each of the men om board, each immediately looking away so as to not make any sort of eye contact.Â
âIâll join you,â Steve had sighed after more moments of silence.Â
âNo. No you stay behind to guard the ship. If we go down youâre next in command.â Eddie continued looked around before his eyes landed on one person in particular. âDustin,â he grinned, an audible whine left the boyâs lips as he noticeably slumped. âAnd Robin.âÂ
âWhy me?â she began to complain.Â
âI dunno, youâre a girl arenât ya?â
âSo?â
âMaybe the creatures will feel more comfortable around you.âÂ
âI see something!â their lookout, Lucas, had called from the bow of the ship. âIn the water, straight ahead!â
Everyone ran to where the boy was standing to look for what he was referring to. Sure enough, there was a head bobbing on top of the waves, long hair billowing out behind it. Half the men were in awe. The other half, scared to death. Eddie didnât take the bait. He watched the creature with careful eyes as he lowered their row boat slowly down into the water, unbeknownst to her. He knew that if she saw them theyâd be dead in an instant. The larger ship would not be as easy a target.Â
While the rest of the men were entranced by the mermaid in the water, more began to pop up. One by one, the ship was surrounded.Â
âPlug your ears, men!â Steve shouted at the helm. âDonât let their songs reach them!âÂ
Like clockwork, as soon as the men on board plugged their ears, they started to sing. Will nearly had to catch Mike by the collar of his shirt cause he was a second too late and nearly jumped clear over board and into the sea.Â
âShouldnât we help them?â Dustin whispered from his spot on the rowboat. âWhat if they attack?âÂ
âSteveâs got it,â Eddie assured. âOur goal is their cove. They always leave the weaker ones behind while attacking.âÂ
âSo the rest of the crew is to act as bait then?â Robin realized.Â
âDistraction,â he corrected. âAs long as they stay prepared, the beasts wonât be able to sink them.â
âAnd if we lose some to their siren song?âÂ
Right as the question left Robinâs lips, the trio heard a war cry screamed from the water near the boat. As they glanced back in fear, they saw the hoard of mermaids leaping to action, hurling themselves towards the ship in formation.Â
âGo,â Dustin told Eddie with his eyes wide. âGo! Row! Row! Row!âÂ
Eddie didnât need and more urging to increase the speed at which he was rowing their boat towards the cove.Â
âQuiet,â Eddie ordered as they pulled the boat ashore. âWe donât know how many they left behind. They should be in the heart of the cove.âÂ
Eddie removed his heavy coat and took his guns from their holsters, trying to limit the amount of noise he generated. Robin and Dustin followed suit, all keeping their swords in their spot on their hip just in case.Â
The trio was in awe at the sights that waited for them past the beach. There were trees hanging towards the ground, leaves swaying in the wind. Waterfalls and babbling brooks could be heard running over the top of rocks in every direction. The grass seemed greener than everywhere else, the water more blue and yet also clearer. They wouldnât have been surprised if a unicorn had emerged from the bushes at any moment. It was magical.Â
While the three were marveling at the sights around them. Eddie heard it. Humming. Coming from a nearby pool in the center of the trees. He motioned to the others and put his finger to hips lips, signaling them to be quiet as he carefully drew out his sword, the others following. As they drew closer, Eddie couldnât help but feel he knew the tune from somewhere.Â
His suspicions were confirmed, however, when you began singing.Â
âIâll swim and sail on savage seasâŚâ she sung, mostly under your breath and just to yourself. âWith nâer a fear of drowning.âÂ
Eddieâs breath caught in his throat. It was the song his mother would sing to him as a child. Well before she passed. One of his few remaining memories of her.Â
âAnd gladly ride the waves of lifeâŚâ you continued, a bit louder but still slow and drawn out. âIf you will marry meâŚâÂ
As you said the last line, Dustin seemed to realized you were a mermaid singing, and the fear of being bewitched made him shoot his hands up to cup his ears, dropping the sword he was holding in turn.Â
âNo!â Eddie whispered in protest, reaching for the droppen weapon, but was just a second too late as it clattered to the ground.Â
You gasped at the sound, turning towards the group and quickly retreating away after seeing them, disappearing into the shadows.Â
Eddieâs eyes went wide. He had put too much planning into this voyage to lose it all now. He had to do something and quickly.Â
âNo scorching sun, nor freezing cold,â he sang back. His voice far more raspy and no where near as smooth. âWould stop me on my journey.âÂ
Eddie motioned for Robin and Dustin to stay behind as he took a few cautious steps towards you, continuing to sing. âIf you would promise me your heart⌠And loveâŚâÂ
He stood with his hand outstreatch towards you, urging you to come forward. Everyone stood in silence for a long moment. Waiting to see how you would respond. It was evident that not even you knew the answer. Tensions were high. No one knew what would happen next.Â
Eddie had nearly lost hope after a few more moments of silence. That was until you took another breath. âAnd love me for eternityâŚâ you sang. Eddie let out a sigh of relief as you moved from the shadows, slowly and cautiously approaching the man.Â
âMy dearest one, my darling dear. Your mighty words astound me.â
As you got closer to Eddie, he approached the edge of the water, attempting to meet you in the middle. Dustin was watching with fear the whole time, afraid you would snap at any moment. No matter how you seemed on the outside, you was still a mermaid. The same breed of mermaids that were attacking their friends not a thousand feet down the coast.Â
Your lips turned to a shy smile as you continued singing towards Eddie. âBut Iâve no need for mightly deeds when I feel your arms around me.âÂ
Eddie knelt down onto he kness, trying to encourage you to be comfortable enough to approach him more.Â
âMy mother sang that song to me,â he said softly, smiling to himself as the memories came flooding back.Â
By now, you were intrigued. You wanted to know more about the pirate in front of you. He sat in silence after mentioning his mother. You watched as his smile went from a happy smile reminiscing on the past to a sad, sorrowful one. You knew nothing about him, yet wanted to comfort him. You reached out your hand for him to take. Just a small gesture of comfort, it was all you could think to do. His sad smile became a little happier as he connected your hands. He was taught that mermaids were heartless beasts. That they could not feel and would stab you in the back any chance they got.Â
That must have been the fear Robin felt as she saw her captain in such a vulnerable spot with you, as she dashed forward to protect him. Becoming afraid again, you turned around, trying to swim off as fast as you could. Before you got the chance to get far enough, Robin acted quickly, driving her sword down into the sand, catching the edge of your tail in the process.Â
âYou got her!â Dustin celebrated as your could no longer swim away. Eddieâs eyes went wide as he watched the blood trailing from your fin and becomming diluted in the water. You turned around to face Robin and all Eddie could see on your face⌠was fear. Sure it was warranted granted you were completely at the mercy of pirates⌠but he was taught that mermaid felt no emotion. And as far as he knew, fear was an emotion.Â
âLetâs get it back to the crew,â Robin said, wasting no time in grabbing your arms to hoist you out of the water. You tried to fight her grasp. Your writhed and screamed to no avail. Robin felt as though she was trying to tame a wild cat with the way you scratched at her hands. âDustin, come help me!âÂ
Dustin rushed to her aid to help and drag you from the pool of water. Despite your attempts to escape, they succeeded.Â
Almost immediately after you left the water, your tail shrunk and separated into to legs. You stopped your squirming to escape and instead moved you arms to cover yourself, the lack of clothes making you feel quite vulnerable. It only took a moment of Robin and Dustin continuing to drag you across the ground that Eddie stepped in.Â
âEnough!â he nearly screamed at the two.Â
âCaptain?â Dustin asked, confused. They were, after all, just doing as he asked.
Saying nothing, Eddie took off his coat and threw it over your shoulders, quickly fastening it in the front in order to give you some sense of dignity. Your eyes widened in shock at his kindness towards you. Considering his companions never called you more than an âitâ.Â
âCanât you see sheâs scared?â Eddie hissed at the two.Â
âShe?â Robin repeated.Â
âSheâs scared?â Dustin gawked. âSheâs the one who tried mauling us!âÂ
Eddie scoffed at them as he helped you to your feet. As he watched your form tremble beneath him, he was at a loss as to what to do. On the one hand, this was the purpose of the whole mission. To obtain a mermaid. He had done just that. But on the other hand, you looked to be just an innocent girl like this. Not a malicious bone in your body.Â
With a small, sympathetic smile, Eddie continued to sing to you under his breath. âThrough all lifeâs sorrows and delights,â he sang softly. âIâll keep your laugh inside me.â And with that, he grabbed your shoulders and carefully pushed you back into the water, allowing you time to escape as he blocked Robin and Dustin from going after you.
âWhat are you doing?!â Dustin screetched.Â
âItâll get away!âÂ
âI changed my mind,â Eddie responded simply.Â
You watched from the shadows as the three argued. Eddie firmly standing his ground. When the other two backed off, you resurfaced.Â
âSwim and sail the savage seas,â you smiled towards Eddie. When he turned to face you, you propelled out of the water, wrapping an arm around his neck to pull him to your level. Robin and Dustin both called out in fear, however, when his head reached the water you stopped. You landed a soft, gentle kiss on the pirates lips as a symbol of gratitude and watched as he pulled away with a drunken smile on his lips.Â
âWith nâer a fear of drowning.â
And with that, you disappeared back under the waves.Â
