Your daughter has always been the perfect mix of you and your husband, but lately, you’ve noticed that personality wise she’s resembling her father more and more.
While Leon is a great man, watching your daughter morph into a tiny version of him is rather… Interesting. The first time she showed some sort of sign, you mistook it as a one time thing– But now you’re lucky if you can go a full day without one of her corny lines. And while you’re not particularly mad, it’s concerning how she tries to mimic everything her father does.
“Leon, can you help me with Piper?! We’re going to be late!” you yell, trying to get your husband’s attention. He’s more than likely getting ready himself to drop off his daughter at school. Typically you can get Piper ready without any hassles, but this morning she’s particularly difficult to work with.
“I’m almost done!” she claims, though she’s still wearing her pajamas and has barely washed her face. You sigh, not arguing with her about a thing. You look in her closet for some clothes for the day, a task that she likes to do but won’t get to do due to her lack of urgency.
When you lay down the clothes for her, she pouts. “I wanted to pick!”
“Why don’t you hurry up then?” you say, a hint of annoyance in your voice. It’s too early in the morning for you to handle this.
“You know my knees are not like they used to be.” The comment from your daughter catches you off guard, almost earning a chuckle from you. Her knees, she claims as if she weren’t five. Luckily, you maintain a poker face as you mindlessly stare at her.
“Yeah, kindergarten is wearing you down, you look like you’re smoking a pack a day.” You turn around to find your husband leaning on the doorframe, fighting back a smirk as he looks at his defiant daughter. “You better be staying away from those crayons, Piper.”
“Haha, help her.” You tilt your head and motion it towards her, which makes Leon enter the room and help her out. She’s still difficult, her moodiness doesn’t disappear simply because her father helps her out, but at least Leon has enough patience to deal with the child.
“Don’t you just feel so nice and pretty with the outfit that your mommy picked out for you?” Leon asks as he brushes her hair, and she purses her lips together.
“No,” she answers, making a sigh escape your lips. At least she’s honest. You begin to look for her backpack and anything she might need for the school day– A task that doesn’t take long when she’s not being difficult. “I need a jacket.”
“Are you cold, cutie?” he asks, and she nods before hugging herself.
“Someone left the fridge open last night,” she says, making you roll your eyes. You make sure that she can’t see you as you do so, not wanting to hurt her feelings. She hasn’t done anything wrong but it’s just funny to see that out of all the amazing qualities she could inherit from her father, she inherited that.
Leon chuckles for you, absolutely loving the commentary from his daughter. “You’re right. Seems that I forgot to close the door last night.”
When Leon is done with her hair, she goes to the closet to pick a jacket, landing on the denim jacket that matches her outfit. Leon’s eyes land on the window, noticing the gloomy sky.
“Let’s get you an umbrella, unless you want to shower again,” he tells her, and she nods in agreement.
“There’s one near the door, guys. Let’s hurry up before you’re late, Piper,” you chime in.
“Is there?” Leon cocks an eyebrow.
“If there isn’t it should be fine, it’s just a bit of water.”
“I don’t wanna go for a swim, mommy,” she says, and you sigh as your husband laughs. She’s truly turning into a mini version of your husband.

Synopsis: After breaking their coffee table, Y/n and Jeongin get dragged to IKEA by Changbin, only to get distracted and become convinced a random shopper is a serial killer

“Ugh, why do I even need to be here?” you groan, dragging your feet down the massive aisles of IKEA.
Changbin doesn’t even turn around.
“Let’s think,” he says dryly. “Was I the idiot who played ‘the floor is lava,’ jumped from the loveseat onto the coffee table, and then watched one of you try to kick it out from under me at the exact same time?”
You and Jeongin exchange a guilty look.
He gestures between the two of you.
“—oh wait. That was you two idiots.”
You splutter. “Yeah, well—that table was on its last leg anyway!”
Changbin whirls around. “It would’ve lasted a lot longer if someone didn’t kick its actual legs.”
He shoots a pointed look at Jeongin, who scoffs “I couldn’t let the maknae win! Where’s the honour, Changbin? The honour?”
Changbin pinches the bridge of his nose. “We’re splitting up.”
You gasp dramatically, clutching your chest. “That’s not how this relationship works! We need a vote—”
“No, you—” he cuts himself off with a sigh. “To look for a table. We’re splitting up to look for a table. You two just—just go be useless that way.”
He turns and walks off before either of you can argue.
You glance up at Jeongin. “…plushies?”
He nods immediately. “Plushies.”
Jeongin picks up a Blåhaj, squinting at it. “You know, I don’t know what’s up with him. He’s been such a dick today.”
You shrug.“To be fair, Chan yelled at him for letting us ‘mess about,’ and we are in IKEA way earlier than any human should be.”
“…fair,” he admits. Then he eyes you. “Why are we looking at sharks anyway? Don’t you already have, like, five?”
You scoff. “First of all, I have nine. Second of all, i only have one Blåhaj and he needs a friend. It’s basic emotional support logic.”
“…that’s not how plushies work.”
“That’s exactly how they work.”
He turns back to the pile, reaching out—only to brush against someone else’s hand.
“Sorry!” he says quickly, looking up.
The man staring back at him smiles.
A little too widely.
“Oh, no worries,” the man says. “You have very soft hands.”
“Yenni,” you suddenly say, grabbing his sleeve, “we need to go get that bedding.”
He doesn’t argue, practically sprinting with you into the next aisle.
“I swear to God, if you get kidnapped, I will never hear the end of it,” you mutter. “Actually, no—you’re pushing thirty, that’s not kidnapping, more of an abduction.”
Jeongin barely reacts, glancing back. “…didn’t he look familiar?”
You peek over. “I mean… kind of? But let’s not—”
“Isn’t there like—a robber? Or a killer? We saw something on the news—”
“Jeongin, he’s not a killer.”
“Oh yeah? What makes you so sure?”
You glance back again.
The man is now…stroking a giant bear plush.
“…okay,” you admit slowly. “If he was a killer, I feel like he’d have better things to do than—”
You both freeze as the man lifts the plush and takes a deep sniff.
You stare in mild horror.
Jeongin turns to you with a pointed look “Maybe he just likes smelling bear plushies from ikea…okay, he’s weird. That doesn’t mean he kills people!”
You keep walking in silence, until Jeongin breaks it. “Djungelskog.”
You blink. “Excuse me?”
“The bear,” he says. “It’s called Djungelskog.”
“…you remember that, but not our anniversary—mmph?!”
Suddenly, you’re shoved back against a shelf, Jeongin’s hand clamped over your mouth.
“Shhh!” he whisper-shouts.
He peeks around the corner.
You pull his hand away. “Why do your hands smell like cheese? Actually, no—what the hell was that for?”
“I said shut up…and there were free samples. Can you focus?!”
You roll your eyes but follow him.
You peek around.
The man is now staring at a set of knives.
Big knives. Very big knives.
“…maybe he just needs a new knife,” you say weakly. “That’s normal.”
“Oh yeah?” Jeongin whispers. “Do you think he tried to juggle knives and now one’s stuck in his ceiling?”
You smack his shoulder. “First of all, you and Felix dared me, second of all, it’s normal! Stop assuming everyone’s a murderer!”
“He said my skin was soft!”
“Your hands are soft!”
At your raised voices, the man glances over.
You both duck instantly.
Just enough to still see him…testing the knife with a little too much enthusiasm.
Jeongin leans in. “Oh yeah. Totally normal, Y/n. Super innocent.”
“…okay, yeah, I’ve got nothing.”
“…so follow him?”
“…follow him.”
The next ten minutes make everything worse.
‘Jeff’ ,as you’ve now named him, has:
* Had a full conversation with wooden mannequins
* Laughed. Then gotten angry. Then laughed again at nothing in particular
* Bought three rolls of duct tape
* And stared at himself in a mirror for a concerning amount of time
You and Jeongin are now crouched behind a display sofa.
“…oh my God, you were right,” you whisper.
“I told you. What do we do?”
You peek over.
“…well, I’d say call the police, but I think we should be more concerned about the fact that the clearly insane man we’ve been stalking is now missing.”
Jeongin slowly looks up.
“…oh.”
“…oh.”
A hand lands on your shoulder.
You scream.
“DON’T KILL ME I HAVEN’T C6’ED MY VARKA—!”
Jeongin screams too.
“What on earth are you doing?!” Changbin stares at you both.
“Murderers,” Jeongin says.
“Furniture,” you say at the same time.
You elbow him, he whines.
Changbin drags a hand down his face. “You know what? I don’t even want to know. Get up—I found the table. I just need a worker to get the order ready.”
You follow him like scolded puppies.
“‘Murderers’?” you whisper. “What is wrong with you?”
“Can I not inform our beloved Binnie hyung of our heroic actions?”
“Not when he’s like he’s not in the mood for our shenanigans.”
Then, you see him.
‘Jeff’.
Jeongin immediately shoves both you and Changbin down onto a display bed.
“What—?!” Changbin whispers, as you slap a hand over his mouth.
After a moment, you both explain everything.
Changbin stares at you.
“So. You’ve been stalking a random guy who hasn’t actually done anything—”
You wince.
“—instead of doing the one thing we came here for. The one thing i asked you to do.”
“…when you say it like that…”
“He said I have soft hands!”
“Maybe he just has poor social skills!” Changbin snaps. “I asked you to do one thing—”
He stops.
“…oh, I hate it when you two are right.”
You turn.
‘Jeff’ stands there, his jacket now tied around his waist revealing a much bloodied shirt with knives, duck tape and an unreasonable amount of cling film in his basket.
“SEE?!” you and Jeongin whisper-yell.
Jeff looks over.
All three of you drop behind a table.
“…plan?” Jeongin whispers.
“The plan,” Changbin says flatly, “is that we are getting our table and going home.”
“But what if he tracks Jeongin down? He knows his scent!”
“Is he a bloodhound now?!”
Somehow, you manage to order the table and escape.
Later, you’re all sprawled on the sofa.
“Feels weird not putting my feet up,” you say, staring at the empty space where the table used to be.
“Whose fault is that?” Changbin mutters.
You pout and ignore him, resting your head on Jeongin’s shoulder as he flips through channels.
Minho walks in, “What took you three so long?”
“Murderers,” you say.
“Furniture,” Jeongin says.
“Idiots,” Changbin says.
[Post-credit scene]
The TV flickers in the background as no one pays attention, focused on dinner
A news report plays.
“And in other news, a man has been arrested today in connection with several murders—”
I just finished Total Monster Kill, and felt compelled to expand on a YouTube comment I left. This was the final JRWI campaign I watched before I am entirely up to date, and having watched the progression from the very beginning of all of the campaigns in a matter of months, I have to acknowledge the incredible amount of progress the entire crew has made!
Grizzly’s Dm’ing has improved more than I can describe in a comment, with descriptions feeling so much more real, pacing keeping events captivating and tense at all times, and NPC’s conveying such complex ideals integrated as a product of stellar world building. Recently I’ve noticed a lot more experimental mechanics and story-beats, which have been pulled off so well - the fact that not only is he confident enough, but talented enough to make these work is a huge testament to his improvement.
Condi’s voice acting stands out to me by far as his biggest improvement, as while his characters too have become more fleshed out and deep, the pure range and guttural emotion displayed by him in this campaign (TMK) immersed me so much more than I found myself being in the earlier days of riptide and prime defenders. Even if he does end up with noise complaints lol.
Bizly has always been quite a strong player in voice acting and storytelling, but I’ve especially noticed the sheer complexity and moral dilemmas he weaves into his more recent characters - especially in Everett - has noticeably improved, and the story is so much more impactful because of it. I’ve also always admired the way Bizly delivers his sentences, with diverse cadence and perfect pauses in any scenario, emphasising atmosphere wonderfully.
Although Charlie Slimecicle wasn’t in TMK, I have to simply acknowledge the sheer improving talent he has in improv, as well as the way he seems to always know the most impactful choice to make in order to build a more compelling plot - be it as a player or a game master. Charlie’s ability to manipulate nuanced tone and setting (especially seen in the suckening) and his ability to make horror and pain feel not just “not cringe”, but terrifyingly immersive, is extremely rare.
Finally, Milo - who despite being newer, is such an amazing addition to JRWI I cannot imagine it without her. The way she can make any sentence feel like a punch in the gut- be it from humour, characterisation, or acting so beautifully tragic it makes me ugly cry for half an hour straight- is unparalleled. She is such a dynamic player and adds perfectly to the overall energy of the team.
ALSO! the sound effects, editing, and art have been so gosh darn amazing, and picked up dramatically in the last few years, so a huge shoutout to editors and artists too! Having specially commissioned art, and even dedicated soundtracks (jrwi if you see this please do more soundtracks, is so unbelievably hype and worth it 1000%) is sick as hell and brings so much to the show.
Thank you JRWI for such amazing and moving content, getting me into TTRPG’s, and I can’t wait to see how you can improve even from here!
