I don't like fandoms because they delude fans into thinking they can have a say in the creator's life and plans. You're just a customer, and customers aren't always right.

If you don't like a creator, just stop being a customer. Stalking their pages and their friends is weird behavior. It's strange that when someone from a century ago did something wrong, people throw a tantrum if they found out you're reading their works. But when their favorite creator who are still alive abuses someone, they suddenly think it's irrelevant. Fandoms aren't consistent in their principles.

I actually recommend everyone write for a rarepair once because it completely changes your relationship with fandom. Engagement stops being numbers and starts being names. You know who's going to show up. You recognize usernames. Someone disappears for a while and then comes back and you're like “OH MY GOD WELCOME HOME.” It's incredibly wholesome. It is also deeply inconvenient when all six of you simultaneously get writer's block-
