I'm back again with an event for Vanica/Grey this year! However, things are going to be a little different!

First of all, this is only a little thing - a day event - stretching over three days to account for timezones and give anyone participating a little wiggle room.

Secondly, there is NO prompts list this year. It's a free-for-all, essentially - write or draw whatever takes your fancy! Your only limit is your imagination.

I've made these changes because I'm busier than I used to be, so I've not got the time to run a larger week event. But I didn't want to skip entirely, so now it's small and cute!

There are only two guidelines for this: firstly, please don't use AI in your submissions. This is about what YOU can make! And secondly, make sure to tag me at @dapple-events as you submit a piece, so that I don't miss it.

You may be wondering why I'm officially announcing this so early considering it's quite a small event over two months away. That's because I'm actually about to take time away from Tumblr, which I'll discuss more on my main in a bit, so I needed to do this first and get the ball rolling before I go. In the meantime, if you have any questions about the event, I'll be checking in here every few weeks or so in the lead-up to the event, and I'll be returning to Tumblr to host this later.

This was my first time hosting an event so I was honestly quite nervous, but it was smooth sailing the whole way through!

I would like to thank @queenbutterfly276 for participating - I hope you had a good time! Your art is absolutely brilliant! And for everyone else who viewed that art or read my fics, I hope you enjoyed it!

I know there wasn't a lot of traffic because this is a niche ship in a quiet fandom that's hibernating until the anime returns, but I still want to do this again next year because I had lots of fun. I think November was a bad time to pick, so if I did this again it would be at a better time like late summer - July or August or something - because I'm pretty sure there aren't any regular major events in those months?

But the fun isn't over yet!

Submissions are allowed for another week before I bring the event to a close next Sunday! If you were wanting to participate but you're a bit late to the party, don't worry! You have up to November 30th to submit anything you have up your sleeves, and for anyone wanting to follow the prompts list, you can use that for this coming week as well!

I'm putting together a bonus 8th piece to submit next week because I had such a good time coming up with all these ideas! It'll be something nice and cozy.

Today is Day 7, Free Day! Therefore, I decided to write a very cute angel/demon AU that @hybridanafrost came up with.

All royal grimoires come with a pair of spirits - an angel and a demon - whose job is to guide their royal and teach them how to conduct themselves and be leaders of the people. Noelle's spirits, however, are a pair of disasters. Grey, the angel, is extremely skittish and prone to panic. Vanica, the demon, keeps recommending illegal activities, most often murder.

Day 6 is Role Swap! This means that Grey is now one of Spade's usurper kings and Vanica is one of the Black Bulls.

Day 5 is Fantasy or Fairytale, so I decided to revisit the world of We'll Write Our Own Stories since it fits the prompt! You do not have to have read WWOOS or its prequel to enjoy this as it is, but anyone who's read both may have noticed that Grey develops a habit of putting flowers in people's hair between fics. This fic explains where she learned that, and is heavily inspired by How To Train Your Dragon's "Forbidden Friendship" scene.
