“It was lovely to meet you.”

         ‘ ——and you believe this will work? ‘ he queried, all the more intrigued by her sudden outburst as it became clear it would soon develop into something highly entertaining. His evident boredom – over centuries, had led him toward this one and her many qualities it saw him enjoying the time he’d revolted against for so long. Perhaps she would teach him a thing or two about this new age that the world was living in. He had mastered a great many things over time but there were still many details he had yet to decipher. ‘ I commend you for your efforts in this endeavour, Madam. ‘

   Édith then put aside the plate filled with strawberries that she had been eating, standing up from the couch in her boudoir and taking one last sip from her champagne, then walking over to where he was and stopping behind him, placing a kiss at his shoulders. It wasn’t customary of her to be so bubbly and light-hearted, but naturally the drinks were quite a help to achieve that sort of change in her. “And besides, it will be FUN.”
