I’ve wanted to put this together for some time now and I finally got around to it, lets introduce them-

Firstly you’ve got Flax Mannequin ,sister of my other character, SkinGlob Mannequin, her name is meant to sound like, ‘glass’ because she’s… glass! She’s a glass mannequin person, and she’s super into tradwife culture, it’s her self conscious response to the jealousy she’s had for Skin since their father uh… concocted Skin in a lab, yup. (Small thing because I’m sure it’s hard to see- Rudy’s red light refracts through flax’s body and comes out purpleish on the other side, I just enjoyed adding that)

Rudy Lightroom was invented specifically to be Flax’s husband, that doesn’t mean he’s a total nothingburger though, I based him off a theater spotlight, at one point he was a regular spotlight but then he got into production and it became his big life calling- I like to think he swaps out color gel’s based on his emotions, red is his default but maybe he’d switch to blue for sad or green for angry, also- I liked designing him a lot, especially the drippy marker face… it’s melting because his lamp is too hot…pfttt

Basically I took the hair from his beta design and the limb-fusion element from the weeping scope, and his face (if it’s hard to tell) is meant to be a sort of indented cage, as with his waist, because I took the idea of the solitary soul super literally. I’m not sure how else to VISUALIZE that

I’m aware that this is a fruitless and tedious quest but fuck you I’m a baller? Anyway, I’ve made a lot of assumptions here in this little draft version, like drawing the Bremen Emire and Eastern union to be roughly equivalent to 1945 German and Soviet territory, and kind of conservatively sizing Edo as just Japan and Korea, and other notable guesswork like:

“Vinland” probably isn’t ALL of the america’s, I wager that central and South America remain uncorrupted for two very simple reasons:

Tomato’s and Tobacco, while the tobacco description directly mentions Vinland, the tomato one doesn’t which I find more interesting because tomato’s originate from South America, which implies the region they come from ISNT part of Vinland despite these both being American crops, Tobacco originates farther north towards Mexico, so I’d surmise that the corruption of Vinland tampers off the farther south you go, making Mexico kinda iffy (hence tobacco being rare still) but central and South America safe enough that tomato’s are unremarkable

Another big assumption I made was that of the location of Charmagne-Lombard, which by the name I decided is probably some kind of union of France and Italy, which I decided because, while not a real word in my research, charmagne does sound etymologically French, and I figured Italy because Lombard actually is a real word, the Lombards being a name for an ancient Germanic people who concurred the Italian peninsula and some parts of Central Europe, the very edge of this territory being south France which contributed to my decision that the country is likely a version of both italy and France, given in the first game it was just “Lombardia” which, to me implies there was at some point a peaceful merger, like the also hyphenated Austria-Hungary

Course I could be wrong, Charmagne-Lombard could be JUST Italy or, alternatively, Italy and some of its other neighbors, or it could be not Italy at all, we don’t know enough for me to say

Another funger country that we know surprisingly little of is the Vatican, which I’ve drawn our hwre as being all of Spain- because well… there’s no way it’s as small as the real life Vatican, in the funger universe we know it operates like any other nation, which requires a lot more space, especially considering it’s potential economy, futhermore, with the amount of times the Vatican is mentioned you’d think if there WERE a Spain equivalent country that it too would come up, but it never does, case closed

As for Voroniya I kinda gave up there and went with whqt the wiki guessed it was, which is Ukraine, which seems about right? I’ll do more research when my head is clearer, I need to make lunch but I’m putting that off at the moment

Last but not least…. The eastern sanctuaries is a doozy, it’s clearly some version of the Middle East but is always spoken of like it’s a general place? So I have two theories:

Theory A: the eastern sanctuaries IS a collection of separate countries but is talked about as a whole because theres some kind of alliance that’s caused them to act as a political whole (either due to western colonialism from Rondon or due to the Bremen being a unifying threat)

Theory B: the eastern sanctuaries is a single kingdom with multiple sub-nations in it, like our real life UK, perhaps unified by the overarching culture of the yellow mages and the general effect that Nas’hrah had on the region with his conquests

My non funger mutuals can ignore this, anyway, so moonscorch Pav right? Hot topic of debate, especially since miro’s speedpaint from a couple weeks ago or however long it’s been…

My main concept with this design was to subvert what the scrapped one was while trying to keep its themes, mainly Pavel’s presumed fear of being consumed by Bremen ideology, becoming what me meant to destroy, hence the longer hair and snake from the Kaiser’s design being added here as well as the pickelhaube and officers sword (not well drawn mind you, I’m not great with weapons….) I also kept the avian element, representing the Bremen Eagle, from the scrapped Miro design

But also, I think it’d be interesting if Pav’s moonscorch was so visibly human, I mean- fundamentally the evil he’s afraid of is a human evil, after all the kaisers motivations are the elevation of humanity, war is a human concept, no matter how you stretch it it’s all VERY humanity oriented, so maybe pav’s design would represent that by keeping his face and body

The last thing is that I gave him extra arms, I did this because the Bremen elite soldiers are sylvian marriages, I wanted to put faces on his waist too? But I ended up not really having room so I just scribbled, the idea is that mock-marriage features like that would further make him resemble what a “true Bremen” looks like, course I’m not sure if the Kaiser even cares about the loyalty his officers give him, that culture might be entirely internal, we probably won’t know until Pavel becomes playable (one day…)

God shes so cute. I’m so proud of this one guys, look at her. I finally have an actual design….. I had to study a couple different dresses to get this right, I did try to keep it relatively simple since I intent to do a lot more art of her and if id given her a proper lolita look I think it would’ve gotten to be too much… so I went with a simplified style, common for more casual Lolita or Cutecore girls- honestly finding references for her hair was the hardest part, I couldn’t find a name for it so I had to try and describe it into Pinterest, found references eventually!

Mary lore-wise is a character that’s evolved a lot throughout the years I’ve spent on my original works, but most recently she functions as a loveable reference character, simultaneously a sort of optimistic, humorous relief in reference to the crushing nihilism of a lot of the cast, as well as being the viewers look into a NORMAL person from this world, which is desperately needed when you’re writing royals, prophets and the general upper echelon as most of your cast, which is a direct tip by the way. If you’re writing a story about exceptional characters you should try to fit in someone relatively normal as a way for your viewer to understand what basic life actually looks like

Of course by tribute of being a main character Mary does have some exceptional abilities in that she’s a shape-shifter, she shares a plight with Jasonas that she never asked or agreed to be a Vessel for a god, but rather then falling into despair about it like he does, Mary makes use of her ability by getting involved with revolutionary groups, using her powers to slip into conversations of the high classes as an informant, the story we find her in is her ultimate mission, to infiltrate the private school that for the first time in history, will host a royal child amongst its alumni
