Randomly Over-analyzing NSA files part 8
Alright you brat (affectionate) , you've been popping up in everyone's spotlight it's finally your turn.
-The little shit (affectionate) of tiktok right now that is sparking controversy within the Incredibles fandom, because the fandom doesn't know the difference between a morally questionable asshole and FREAKING HOMELANDER.
-YES HE HAS THE SAME APPEARANCE BUT GAMMA JACK IS NOT HOMELANDER, HOMELANDER WOULD DROP A CAR FULL OF PEOPLE FOR NO REASON, GAMMA JACK WOULD SAVE THE PEOPLE IN THE CAR ALRIGHT NOW SHUT UP. (And don't tell me 'Oh if there was a pretty lady in the car he might' HE PRIORITIZES PRETTY WOMEN BUT HE STILL SAVES REGULAR CITIZENS HE NEVER SAYS HE DOESN'T SAVE THEM)
-And honestly he's even less of a villain in The Elastigirl Prequel despite the fact that we barely get any lines abt him, he plays the pinball machine with Apogee, fixes his hair when talking to Elastigirl and the others, canonically uses hair products (I mean that hair cannot stay swirled like that naturally) and orders photos for his fans.
-Not to mention he CHOOSES to shake Mr.Incredible's hand when congratulating him in his new cartoon. The guy's ego is extremely high if he is 'prone Tyrannical and Megalomanial impulses' but he still takes the time to congratulate his friend in his success. ON HIS OWN ACCORD. No one tells him to even SHAKE Mr.Incredible's hand, he just does it unpromptly.
-If anything he's Magneto except if Magneto chose to work with Charles but still kept his ideals while also NOT trying to destroy one half of the human population.
-Now then enough of my ranting cause generally I'm sick of the Homelander comparison, let me ACTUALLY see his files for one second and when it comes to his Audio Recording I think compared to the other files I'm going to have to read EVEN DEEPER IN A MATPAT SORT OF LEVEL TO JOG IT INTO PEOPLE'S HEADS THAT HE'S MEANT TO BE A COMPLEX CHARACTER. An asshole? Yes, but a complex asshole. (This is also because people are now diminishing their minds in critical analysis of a character ever since the normies came in and think they can try to fit into fandom spaces by shoving their disrespect to its culture.)
-This might actually be LONGER than most of my analysis because I am literally shoving myself towards maximum hyperfixation and reaching multiple stretches in a Matpat level. So may God help me
-Now by far his power is the most deadliest compared to most Supers, as much as you can control fire so it doesn't accidentally hurt people (Though not sure about Blazestone) you can't ensure Radiation isn't straight up deadly, especially if we don't know if Gamma Jack controls all forms of radiation or only Gamma Radiation
- I tried searching up if Gamma Radiation is meant to burn, but Google is unreliable and the best I have is a nerd on tiktok saying that Gamma Rays straight up disintigrate people, but then there was also another nerd in their comment section that pointed out the 'From focused burns to complete disintegration' and said that it's possible he might control all forms of radiation and the name 'Gamma' in his hero hame might be because they didn't want to call him 'Alpha' Jack or 'Beta' Jack. So most of my sources are unreliable.
-If he does control all forms of Radiation then named himself 'Gamma Jack' then it is in-character that someone with megalomanial tendencies would name himself after the most powerful Radiation Rays that is only known to be countered by lead (Which means Syndrome's Omnidroid is either made of lead or coated in it, possibly coated since Mr.Incredible is immune to bullets)
-He makes up his lack of agility and indestructibility with his strength, endurance and intelligence, so you have a walking, living, nuclear bomb that you really shouldn't underestimate if his intelligence is that high. Also in the fact that canonically he has the highest threat rating only second to Mr.Incredible.
-apparently the intensity falls off depending on the distance, so if you're too far from his actual range, then you're probably safe (Jesus Christ so he is LITERALLY a bomb.) This also probably factors to how he lost to the Omnidroid considering he needs to get close enough in order to actually do some damage.
-Originally known as 'Handsome Jack' so I'm guessing both 'Gamma Jack' and 'Handsome Jack' are names he gave himself, which means that either Jack is educated on how radiation works or he's a Greek nerd.
-Doesn't help the fact that he IS canonically handsome.
-'Prone to Tyrannical/Megalomanial Impulses-Believes Supers to be a Superior Race' So this is the part where people focus on and compare him to Homelander which again, is a very very misguided compairson. If anything he IS like Magneto, cause Magneto has the same ideology about Mutants and puts himself up high like a damn dictator, anyone who challenges his ideology is automatically against him. Except unlike Magneto it's possible that Jack has more restraint.
-He is canonically friends with Mr.Incredible, if we count the deleted scene as canon, why would Mr.Incredible recruit Gamma Jack to recruit Gazerbeam into becoming a hero?
-He is also supportive of Gazerbeam's decision with how happy he was to see him in his Supersuit (Guy had his hands up in the air and everything)
-And again, he CONGRATULATES MR.INCREDIBLE IN THE SUCCESS OF HIS NEW CARTOON. So if anything he's technically even if Gamma Jack is an asshole he's technically a nicer version of Magneto, which FEELS weird to say it out loud. Actually he's just Magneto if Magneto didn't choose world domination and literal genocide, and instead went with Charles and chose heroism instead.
-Also while I'm on the subject on this matter 'NSA recommends close Grade (A Level) Monitoring.' People keep saying this is because he might be prone to be a villian, but this isn't even specific??? It doesn't say Gamma Jack is prone to being evil, it just says that it's recommended that he's monitored closely and it could be a number of things, like say BEING A LIVING NUCLEAR BOMB.
-If I were Gamma Jack and I was prone to Megalomanial Impulses that would also mean I would literally be shooting Gamma Rays everywhere. And since Gamma Rays are the strongest radiation blasts known (I think) OBVIOUSLY THE GOVERNMENT WOULD NEED TO MONITOR HIM.
-Yeah sure we can count his tyrannical impulses are a problem but he is also a threat BECAUSE OF HIS FUCKING POWERS REGARDLESS IF HE USES IT FOR GOOD OR NOT, not to mention the government needs to decontaminize the area around him if his radiation bursts can spread through the air and poison people. (Honestly it would be HELL living as Gamma Jack if you didn't have a high enough ego) I honestly don't think he would be deployed for petty crime too if his powers are that dangerous which is why I think he didn’t end up going to that big crime incident in The Elastigirl Prequel despite the fact that he was with all the Supers in the Beta Force Headquarters and saw people were leaving because of a petty crime. (Yes they were using gigantic fans to blow people away but you gotta admit...that plan is stupid)
-So 'Tyrannical/Megalomanial Impulses' are something he can restrain himself with, mostly because again, he's friends with Bob, he doesn't seem to express this in the Elastigirl Prequel and even more evidence once we get to his audio recording. And 'Needs Grade (A Level) Monitoring' can either be because of his Impulses or because his powers are dangerous for Super Hero work. It doesn't specify that he is prone to being a villain.
-Now do I also think that the NSA might also be overexaggerating him a little? Yes yes I do. Even in cartoons I don't trust governments who run on greed to be accurate about their people, especially if the Movie sort of goes on X-Men logic and puts Supers like some kind of Marginalized group, considering despite their powers they are powerless to the government. Especially with the way that he talks in the Elastigirl Prequel and his audio file, do you really think that Jack even takes his words seriously half the time?
-Now back to me not being tired of tiktok, Picky Eater, now is he an exteme picky eater or is he just a normal picky eater? I for one am a picky eater including my sister but hers is more extreme. Sure we have the same tastes on what we are picky about, like for me I don't like Pickles in burger (Yeah common I know) or even tomatoes, but Pickles on their own is a yes while tomatoes on their own are a no. The same with my sister. However the difference that I can give an example of is that she doesn't like cake because she doesn't like the spongy texture. This includes cupcakes, lava cakes etc. Meanwhile I like all types of sweets except cheesecakes cause the taste makes me vomit.
-So it's a rock paper scissors on what type of Picky Eater Jack is.
-By this point I've memorized his whole audio but I will rewatch it again just to help myself.
-I honestly have a hard time trying to imagine his exact voice when reading comics or fanfics became I can't get the accent right. But he sounds so nice. Voice-wise.
-'Start from there and work my way down the list' Yes Jack might’ve had some collateral damage on his hands but he says it in a way that he doesn't actually MEAN HE DOESN'T SAVE PEOPLE HE ISN'T INTO come on guys the Heroes would've been SUED years ago and it wouldn't have been because of Mr.Incredible. Or better yet revoked of his hero duties because he just kept saving people he found attractive. That is not at all what this line means, he saves people, he just has a list on who to save first.
-Also the range of villains that Jack had to deal with is...questionable? The fuck are 'Super Aquatic Ninja Pigmies?????' The hell do you mean by that Gamma Jack??? I understand the robots and the zombjes but what the hell are Super Aquatic Ninja Pigmies???
-This also means he was probably sent in an underwater mission before...that or some underwater super lured whatever the hell are Super Aquatic Ninja Pigmies and he helped defeat them.
-But notice how the examples are not petty crime. 'Zombie Monkeys' 'Giant Laser Robots' If I were the NSA and I had someone who controlled FUCKING RADIATION I wouldn’t honestly give him missions revolving petty crime that might kill, civilians, police AND the criminals in one shot.
-He only needs 5-100 meters so if anyone got caught in a blast like that they'd be dead.
-'But-but-but- the Gazerbeam deleted scene!' It’s likely Gamma Jack was just observing how Gazerbeam would do as a Hero cause it's obvious by that scene, neither Frozone, Mr.Incredible and Gamma Jack did shit to stop the robbers, Gazerbeam was soloing the whole thing.
-Yes he's a womanizer, as much as I can defend him from NOT BEING HOMELANDER, He is an asshole with flaws.
-Then again the 40s to 60s weren't so kind with women so.
-'Those ones are the ones that are really hard to kill' I would personally argue this depends on your morals, but yes Gamma Jack kills his villains but that isn't necessarily a bad thing, from a moral standpoint yes it is bad, but if you were to kill a robber in your own house then it's justified.
-To be honest I find his voiceline pretty hilarious but you can also hear that slight nervousness in his voice that just screams 'What the hell am i saying???'
-Guy also doesn't know what comes out of his own mouth sometimes.
-But also the fact that he expresses he has to restrain himself from his attraction to women BEFORE getting the job done says a lot. It shows he knows his own flaw when it comes to being attraction to women and he needs to pull the brakes before he gets distracted. He DOES know restraint.
-Which again goes back to the whole 'Prioritizes women' If he can find ways to restrain himself before killing of a villain he finds attractive then he can restrain himself from getting distracted with saving pretty women before going over to save people. He KNOWS RESTRAINT.
-He can be attracted to women, but he also knows when to prioritize his job. Otherwise that intelligence stat doesn't make fucking sense.
-But still he is still an asshole. I would punch his nuts in real life. (Maybe that's why I decided to add him to my favorite character list so that I can make this dude suffer. Angst angst galore for the walking bomb)
You know my anger for the lack of people willing to look at that complexity makes me wanna take my anger out on him with angst headcanons (No no no it's not because I love him what do you mean?)
-So since Supers gain their powers when they were a child, Depending on how I want to make his backstory, he either killed his own parents or he was given away to the government because he was too dangerous.
-Also I firmly believe that Supers show their powers as a way of Self-Expression, when being forced not to use their powers it's really like a way of denying what's part of them. (Honestly this might end up actually being an LGBTQ coded scenario rather than race? But idk) this is mostly inspired by the symbolism that the more Violet starts using her powers the more she becomes confident, this is because Violet is now expressing a part of herself that she's grown to love after years of denying it and hating it because society expects her to be normal. Same with Dash except he tries to rebel instead of being ashamed of who he is, he defies authority and society in his own way because he knows it's wrong he just doesn't understand why and he tries to find ways he can use his abilities because he really can't help but use them.
-I also kinda firmly believe in the concept of Enantiodromia where one extreme eventually leads to it's opposite, in which case Gamma Jack is so egotistical and self-confidence that he's actually insecure and has low self-esteem.
-Where am I going with this? Well if Supers powers are a form of Self-Expression then Gamma Jack having radiation for powers becomes a flaw in this self-expression, where instead of being proud of his powers he's actually ashamed of them. All because he has to hold back or he accidentally kills someone. Like I said it is literally hell to have his powers because in anyways to sunday, if he can control all forms of radiation the best he can do is give you microwavable burns, which still suck.
-Which means Gamma Jack is constantly having to hold back his own powers which means by Supers culture or at least by Super's standards, he is ashamed of his own powers and if he follows the same self-confidence issues like Violet I honestly think his ego is to hide the fact that he literally hates his powers since other heroes can express them safely, while Gamma Jack literally risks death every time he infects the air around him.
-It's also canon he uses hair products and really cares about his looks so he has insecurities about how he looks too. He always makes sure he looks good regardless if he has to take a photo or not.
-Secretly jealous of Mr.Incredible. Look, Bob literally has the looks of the standard American Male, Blonde hair, blue eyes and he has a muscular body that even by today is considered attractive, he is also canonically more muscular than Gamma Jack which is a given considering he lifts trucks for a living.
-But it's also the fact the Movie implies that Mr.Incredible was also the face of the American Supers. It was with sueing him did the people get comfortable with suing every Super. And someone actually pointed out and asked WHY didn't the Peeping Tom in the Newspaper clippings within the Movie start the banning of Supers why the hell did it have to be Mr.Incredible? Possibly because he was the standard on what Heroes should be, which, if Gamma Jack and him were friends I honestly don't believe that Jack wasn't the least bit jealous of Bob.
-Not to mention Bob was able to get ELASTIGIRL, The girl famous for breaking hearts and rejecting TOP SUPERS.
-It's probably why he didn't go to his wedding, I sort of headcanon the Empty space next to Dicker is meant to be for Gamma Jack.
-Though I think Jack highly respects Bob since they are friends and he was even willing to congratulate him in his success, I just think since he knows how to restrain himself, he knows when to keep his jealousy for Bob on the down low because they were friends.
-And this lines up with the fact I do think Gamma Jack heavily hides his insecurities with his self-confidence and ego.
-Met Frozone and Mr.Incredible when he was very young, he was having control issues with his powers and started terrorizing the city.
-Jack is the reason Bob doesn't want a sidekick despite Bob being the one to help him with his control issues.
-Bob is considered the closest to Gamma Jack, every hero other than him was kept at arms length. It also caused some misconception with Mr.Incredible having sidekicks back in the day and Jack was still rebellious even at the past that both Bob and him agreed that they weren't sidekick and hero. Unfortunately this is what inspired Buddy and gave him the idea that it was okay to be Bob's sidekick.
-He is the youngest to be a registered Super, being 12, younger than Macroburst and Stratogale when they first got registered. (EMPHASIS ON THE REGISTERED)
-Has a heavy love for his own freedom, does not like to be controlled. Hence why he avoids Psycwave regardless of how hot she is.
-After the ban he started a movement against the government but that plan failed and he was moved out of the city for safety reasons, living in a huge farm isolated from everyone else.
-Had no way of contacting the other Supers, Mirage and Syndrome wouldn’t have found him if he wasn't already on Government watch.
-His Isolation caused him to sort of humble himself, the Ban ended up destroying who Gamma Jack was as a person and honestly you'd understand why he went to the Island in the first place.
-Touch-Starved, sometimes communicates by touch when he can't use words. Old interviews will recall Jack sometimes sitting way too close to Mr.Incredible or Frozone. He's subtle about this fact
-I subscribe to the idea he didn’t like drinking until after the ban.
-Works as a mechanic, not like he knows how to tend to a farm, but he only does that as a hobby.
-Probably had a 20-step skincare routine but minimized it after the ban. Same with the hair products, probably lost a lot of money from damages and from spending.
-People who live in the rural area call him 'Farmer Jack' though if anyone asks about the constant explosions at night they pity Jack because they believe that he works too hard on vehicles at night.
-Is very honest and expressive when drunk, sometimes he'll say things he doesn't even mean to say, maybe stuff about his insecurities and lonliness. The bartender handling his drinks often wonders if he should get therapy.
-Owns at least 3 replicas of his suit. (He would do that, he would definitely do that) 2 of them are from Edna and one is just a costume he bought cause it looked like the real thing.
-The first one from Edna is another version of his suit cause I can't decide if he just has both the Gamma symbol and the 'Y' symbol or if I want one to be canon. The second one is a backup suit in case he somehow manages to tear through it using his Gamma Rays.
-If you ever head to his room, it's just stock-piled with all his merch and stuff, from posters, to stuffed toys, to awards, to his costumes, newspaper clippings all of it. People who visit his house and don't know he's Gamma Jack often wonder if he was just a huge fan back in the day. (He would do this, he definitely would do this) Try to talk him into selling it and he will give you the biggest death glare.
-The last Person he ever talked to was Everseer before he disappeared, by then he lived alone.
-Took Therapy sessions with Everseer, at some point he recognized the accent and it kinda didn't help the therapy sessions if he knew who Everseer was...he doesn’t like being openly honest.
-In fact he's had multiple therapy sessions with different therapists that all recommended monitoring, which is the reason why he wasn’t looking foward to Everseer in the slightest. At some point Jack memorized what diagnoses he would get and just told every therapist afterwards to put it down and pretend to do anything, Everseer was the only one that protested.
-Likes to fly around at night. The lack of city lights makes him mesmerized by the stars.
-I kinda have multiple headcanons abt his death? He either got shot, got torn to pieces or tried to explode the Omnidroid while also exploding himself. The one thing in common is that it grabbed him by the cape.
-Does love children, wants one of his own but he's aware of how he treats women so he can't see himself in a relationship.
-Is the youngest in Mr.Incredible's friend group, while the rest were in their 30s-40s he was in his 20s.
-Lastly: Jack is not his real name. Not even his middle name or last name. In fact there is no Jack anywhere in his real name, he sort of took the Universal Man route but legally changed his name to 'Jackson Williams' (Which is why I named my Oc daughter for him 'Tessa Williams') But Jack is not his birth name.
