I believe it… That’s how I got my internship.

Networking is seriously so key.  I got my job through my sister, actually.  The company we now both work for was looking for software developers, and she convinced them to give me a shot even though I wasn’t even finished with college.  They gave me a three month paid internship to prove myself and a job offer at the end.  Use your connections, even if it’s family, to find the job you want!

This is definitely true. I got my current job through a facebook post from a mutual friend. The job hadn’t been posted online yet, they were fishing to see what was out there and someone forwarded it to me. My company also LOVES hiring employee referrals. In fact, if you’re generally qualified and you’re a referral it’s pretty much a guaranteed interview. I got another friend a job at my company that way.
