Watching Catfish freaks me out, it’s the reason I don’t like talking to people online unless I’ve actually met them before.

Because people are crazy! I can’t believe some of them go through all of that trouble just to lie

Some people want their fifteen minutes of pain, or they want to believe that people aren’t that cruel. It just depends on the person.

I feel like some of it has to be cases made specifically for television because I’m with you. How do people still fall for it? Some are just too entertaining though. 

I think the same thing sometimes, but then I’m like...why would anyone intentionally want to humiliate themselves like that!

I feel like half of them are doing it just for the show or maybe some people are just that naive. No that’s harsh I wouldn’t say they’re naive, maybe it’s just harder to figure out then we might think. I don’t know really could be so many reasons.

I don’t understand why anyone would want to go on national television and make themselves look stupid though. 

Catfish is my jam, Dani! How have we never watched it together? There’s always a marathon on a Sunday morning, do you binge it too? It’s so uncomfortable and awkward I can’t look away! 

I have no idea but we definitely should and it should involve wine. I constantly binge it whenever it’s on!

I don’t know – maybe they’re looking for something and think they find it so want to believe in that so badly. I mean, the world is full of horrible people but you can also meet some really great ones online. 

Of course they want to believe it, but they also have to think about the fact that if the person is continuously avoiding them there’s usually a reason for it

It’s so addictive, isn’t it? I ended up watching a while marathon of it the other day and I have no regrets about it whatsoever. Do you have a favourite episode? I think mine is that one where Nev throws that dude’s phone into the river. Fucking hilarious. You’d have thought people would learn from watching the show but I guess not.

I watch marathons all the time even though ive seen every episode! I don’t know which is my favorite. Most of the time I’m watching it for Nev and Max’s antics because that’s part of what makes it so great. Sometimes I couldn’t care less about how the result ends up

That’s a show I’ve never watched because it terrifies me. I agree, there are so many different ways to find out whether or not the person you’re talking to is really them or not without the humiliation of going on TV.

The pure stupidity of most of the people on the show is what’s really scary. I know people think theyre talking to the love of their lives but if that person doesn’t want to meet you, take the hint and let it go

Exactly! Especially because if they’re calling Nev and Max they clearly have seen the show so they should know better!

I wonder the same thing but sometimes they don’t truly know, I guess. So they need help. Plus, it does keep the entertainment going for us viewers.

I’m sure people are trying to find the love of their life, but go on about it all wrong. They probably get bored of waiting for prince charming to come and rescue them, so they go to the internet in hopes they find the one. It makes for some pretty good entertainment, if you ask me. I feel like people get money out of it too, so that’s a win for them.

They find the one who never wants to meet up with them anyway so it’s the same thing! I don’t know why anyone would want to get paid to look that stupid on tv because both parties end up looking like fools. I can’t even wrap my mind around the way people think. That’s why I love to watch it. Like one day I might figure it out.

Pettiness, I say… It’s the level of spite and wanting to embarrass the cheater which makes people set them up on tv. That’s what the show is about, right? I’ve never watched, but I hear people talk about it.

No one’s really cheating per se. It’s fine to set someone up on tv I guess, but usually it’s the person getting catfished, the one that actually calls the show, is the one who ends up looking stupid.
