Thank you Mom

my mom protected me from more than i realized.

born into an environment where loving your neighbor was second nature and treating people the way you wanted to be treated was the law.

i didn’t know there were restrictions to the law. i believed the priest when he said “everyone” deserved love

all 8 billion of us

humans.

i thought i fell under the description of “everyone”.

how naive i was… to think i would not be a restriction to eternal love.

they told my mom her son was a disgrace, an abomination, a sinner. the antichrist, to be condemned to hell.

i thought hell was for evil people?

was loving him a mortal sin?

i never knew about the names “the divine” called me behind stained glass and wooden pews because my mother took each name like a bullet so i didn’t have to.
