It is my clients request that the walnut boxes I'm working on have a makers mark; so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to have my logo etched onto metal discs and set discreetly into the work. I'm really pleased with the outcome and will apply them to all my major pieces of furniture. Thanks again to my talented brother Ed Harrison for a top job designing the logo. More on this project over the weekend.

Finished and delivered the spalted maple and threaded ebony vessel I've been working on - the clients are very pleased.

Nearly there with the wardrobe commission. Here the three units are assembled and in position. A little bit more work needed - plane in left hand door, turn handles, fit ball catches and tweak the top cornice... but 98% finished! Will take more photo's once completed, this is it for now.

The third of three wardrobes! Here is the corner unit with door hung and mirrored glass in place. This is assembled in sections by using a combination of domino's and pocket hole joinery, as this piece need to be disassembled to be taken up a staircase. I will do a more detailed post on this project shortly once this has been delivered!

With all of yesterdays wet weather I decided to continue with turning the vessel for a couple in Essex. The threaded finial and base are both out of ebony and the vessel body is spalted maple.  A short section of dowel is drilled where the vessel base and plinth meet, plus plenty of Titebond glue. There is also small tenon on the base which will fit into a larger piece of ebony; this will give the form stability -with the timber on order it is back to a slightly larger project!

I was given some beech logs some time ago from a large tree that fell near Carmarthen in south Wales U.K, which has some beautifully rich grain colouring. Now I've got round to using some of the logs and I've found the perfect project for them. Here is a turned hollow vessel from a log which I parted in two halves and will be part of a college project on the theme containers/containing. The inspiration behind this form comes from the shape of gourds which I have been researching. By turning in the 'green' (unseasoned wood) some distortion may occur as the wood dries out, which will be fine as this is the organic appearance I'm looking for. This piece will be finished in Danish oil and is to contain/display a collection of feathers. I'm looking forward to taking some shots of this finished with the feathers in!
