today we’ll start with something nobody enjoys because it’s overly simple. That is, if you’re in college by now.
The Dichotomous Key!!
Basically look at the two men in the image above. Notice how Scandalabra and Jon Wick are the same person?
“N-No, we absolutely aren’t!—“ Shut up Scandy. Anyways!
The dichotomous key was created to ensure proper classification of different species, even if they’re from the same or different group or kingdom!
”You saying I’m not a candle, kid?—“ Shut up Jon.
let’s put these two for example! Scandy has a more “pleasant expression” on his face compared to Jon. Can…can someone over there tell them to stop fighting? Thank you.
This could be divided into one characteristic: Has a pleasant expression, and doesn’t have a pleasant expression.
That’s one sector! Congrats!
Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you that the dichotomous key has two forms. I’d call it the written version and the aesthetically pleasing version.
Also, since we only have two people to compare, let’s call Skylar and Doug (yes the bald guy) to help with further classification!
Here’s a complete example for the written version:
ia) has a pleasant expression (Go to 3)
ib) has no pleasant expression (Go to 2)
iia) wears a suit (Jon Wick)
iib) does not wear a suit (Doug)
iiia) Enjoys spreading rumors (Scandalabra)
iiib) Does not enjoy spreading rumors (Skylar)
