Check out this wacky book cover for my upcoming sci-fi mystery novel called "AX-17: THE KIRA DIARIES." NOTE: The layout is made that way so the entire text doesn't get cropped when uploading it on Wattpad.
To the uninitiated, the art style is supposed to be reminiscent of 1960's art style (specifically a mix of Brad Bird's "The Incredibles", Ryohgo Narita's "DURARARA!!" and several other projects of Chris Reccardi).
Hey everyone!
To my fellow Wattpad neighbors who might be silently following me here, I don't know if it's just me and it's freaking me out. It seems the silly orange app's slowing down on me, though I'm still able to read books offline on mobile and access my profile. I pray they don't suddenly ban anyone (including me!) (γ Β΄ Λ `)
Anyway, I've been reading a lot and also hoping to land more creative opportunities this year. There is one waiting for me and I'll be starting next month.

IMO I don't know how the fuck people equated calling someone a narcissist with NPD because while obviously the word is shared, narcissist is usually used to literally describe assholes and abusers not people suffering from NPD as a slur. Like r/raisedbynarcissists is a prime example.
Honestly, it feels very "white people looking to be oppressed" with how people try to control language. Language is culture, completely. The way it functions is cultural. And people bring languages all the time to public forums where they follow cultural rules that are uniquely theirs.
The act of trying to control the language of others rather than trying to understand what they are trying to say is bad faith. You're not engaging with what they are saying, you're arguing that they are saying it wrong. That's like someone speaking Spanish and you trying to force them to talk in English. It just gives off "in oppressed people trying to be oppressed" vibes when people don't at least TRY to understand the people around themselves.
It's a fascinating evolution of supremacist behavior.
Absolutely! People need to stop constantly policing how others would express themselves and forcing their morals down everybody's throats. I've met some folks who would be mad at me for not responding in a way they expected and putting words into my mouth.
It's like if you're trying to share your personal experiences and someone kept interrupting and saying "Erm, actually the word is X ... " or "Dat ish sooo offensive" throughout the interview.
Every time I'd call someone a "narc", "simpleton," or "psycho," I am actually criticizing their behaviour and not who they are as a person. I am not trying to claim they have NPD or some sort of brain damage out of malice.
Why can't people just sit down and listen as they try to understand what the other party is actually saying? It's important to know that your experience is not universal. What is considered impolite or outlandish to you may not be seen that way by someone else.
This is also why it's so important for everyone to read more books. Not only do you learn new ideas but also different perspectives and cultures. Go out more and hang out with different people outside of your league.
Sometimes, we need to meet someone halfway and focus on the actual message they're trying to convey instead of making it all about ourselves. Nobody wants to be that type of person who ends up taking things too personally when their friend is only making friendly banter with you.

I am currently finishing up some training in work, and the topic is on helping international students to avoid culture shock. They have just presented me with this graphic:
They've captioned it with "This is a bit of fun but it highlights the underlying point" but I am now completely stuck on "I'm sure it's my fault" - "It's your fault" - "Why do they think it was their fault?" as an interaction
Hmm ... This is interestingΒ (βΰ²°_β’Μ)
It's also important to consider the cultural differences, tone/context and the people you're talking to. I am aware that most Brits tend to be passive-aggressive and not always mean what they say.
Here's how I'd understand it as someone who mostly grew up with USAmerican English. Please note that this is just based on my personal experiences and interpretation so kindly take this with a grain of salt:
I also would like to add a few examples. When a friend says "I hate you" in a deadpan tone, it could mean "I can't believe you'd force me to do this" (when it's an emergency), "You may be a pain in the butt but you're alright" (when describing someone) or "Go away!" (when things go wrong).
Second, phrases like "OMG your English is sooo good" could be considered a compliment or just low-key insulting.
Third, being asked "How was your day?/How are you?". If it's my boss or coworker, I wouldn't dump all of my mental woes on them. I would just say "Yeah, I'm good" or "I'm surviving." We're not here to chat.
Fourth, the friendly banter. If I were in Australia and somebody called me "mate", I wouldn't think much of it. It's just as innocent as "Hey, kiddo!". Of course, to the uninitiated, it may sound rude and something saved for people you know fully well.
Samurai Jax
Got lazy to draw but I imagine Caine being Aku. The second image shows different emotions of Jax from left to right, top to bottom: Bloodlust, Grief/Agony, Apathy and Anger.
Imagine Jax being tormented by his past and confronting his inner demons.
Enjoy your summer!
As someone with a larger size and who used to struggle with weight since childhood, you have no idea how this comic made me feel seen! Nobody should shame other people for their bodies βΈ(ο½‘Λ α΅ Λ )βΈβ‘
I remember working out a lot and being watchful of what I eat just so I don't end up looking like a whale whenever I wanna go for a swim. While I do love my chubby looks, I'm still motivated to stay fit and active.
Before any of the young Tumblr kiddos end up missing the point of this post and roasting me in the comments, please know this is just my overall thoughts and impression on Filipino entertainment while drawing parallels with Screen Australia.
Not a thirty-page deep dive into the entertainment industry! Actually, there are many people out there who could break down this topic better than I could. If I miss anything, kindly let me know. I'd appreciate a nice conversation on this topic.
Anyway, according to the official website of FDCP, they offer grants ranging from PHP 30,000 ~ 50,000 for the production of a thesis film project. That's around AU$ 703 ~ 1,172!
Screen Australia, on the other hand, offers grants to video game devs, filmmakers, TV screenwriters, etc. (including early development to full production) ranging from AU$30,000 ~ 500,000. That's worth PHP 1,279,733 ~ 21,328,890.
I swear you could already buy a house and pay off all of your debts in a year with a million pesos.

UPDATE:
Uhh ... So I've been seeing news about a new Internet bill being passed on to the Senate in the U.S. From what I can gather, the KIDS (Kids Internet and Digital Safety) Act would allow platforms to monitor your online activities, assuming your estimated age based on those info, monitor private messages and require facial scans.
Imagine constantly reminding kids about the dangers of posting sensitive info online then suddenly do a 180 by requiring them to give out their IDs to use the Internet. Do you see the contradiction here?
Facial scans? As someone who's always been mistaken for a teenager because I don't look like my age, if I were to live in the U.S., I'd be totally screwed once this law is passed. Whether you make art for a living or not, you still rely on the Internet to look for work, write, watch movies and even do research.
What's worst is the use of AI. Why are these boomers fully relying on some technology that can't even write a clear sentence and tell what a human looks like?
If I'm correct and they're gonna be determining someone's age based on their speech (because I doubt a machine understands how some teens can also be as well-versed as an adult or vice-versa), then we're certainly cooked!
This may be a wild hot take but the government should be leaving the Internet bills up to the millennials and Gen X-ers who at least know more about Internet culture. Not a bunch of boomers who can't even connect to the Wi-Fi without calling their kids or grandkids for help.
I was going for some retro-futuristic vibe but to those who might struggle to read it, the prologue for this book will be dropping this weekend. Here's the official schedule for y'all:
πΊπΈπ¨π¦ July 3rd: 15:00 PST/18:00 EST
π¦πͺ July 4th: 02:00 GMT+4

So the prologue for my new upcoming book just dropped. To the uninitiated, this retro-futuristic sci-fi novel is a love letter to millennial culture, Indian and Arab culture as a whole. The chapters will be rolling out at the start of November (a.k.a. International Sci-fi Month).

[Circa 2050. As the rest of the world burned, ravaged by numerous wars, famine, natural disasters, and civil unrest, the once powerful and greatest nations have fallen, but one small nation has resurfaced as a new superpower in the midst of a deadly storm, strange phenomena, and deep secrets.]
Hey there, mate! In case youβre wondering, I am currently in the process of improving TCOTRB (The Case of The Red Bubble) β also, check out this rad new profile background I made teasing the book on my Wattpad profile. Also, rest assured that the overall premise, characters and writing will stay intact.
I remember reading it again and let's sat it was painfully cringe (HAHA!). There were some repetitive paragraphs and probably many confusing parts that I might've overlooked so hopefully itβd be more appealing to new readers β and olβ fans revisiting it β as well.
Tomorrow on Saturday, the rest of Chapter VIII will be out on Wattpad at 06:00 (GMT+8). Starting next week, the other remastered chapters will fall on Fridays (16:00 GMT+8) and Sundays (06:00 GMT+8).
By the way, here's a close-up of the Philippines. They consist of dome islands that are built above sea level. Oh, that's not all! They also have settlements beneath each island underwater.
To the curious newcomers, here's a sample chapter of TCOTRB. Taken from the first part of [Chapter II: Conspiracy (?)].
Also, beware of any mention of disgusting viruses, blood and amateur writing. If you're gonna be a grammar cop in search of impeccable writing and misinterpret the story, then this might not be for you.
PIT-PAT-PIT-PAT ...
The loud shushing sound of the rain drummed against the dome's glass surface. It only allowed some through its tiny formed holes - like a giant shower head - until an hour had passed. This is done to prevent any flooding.
Milo was on a video chat with Kaira, Leo, Jin and Irene via his laptop. He kept glancing at his bed window where there appears to be a bright red light in the distance.
"I kept seeing it ever since we moved here. The Red Bubble usually glows at night so maybe one of you could tell me what it is ...Β " he pleaded with an awkward grin and both hands gesturing at them.
There was a moment of silence.
They could hear a child's high-pitched screaming coming from Leo's camera. Leo slowly popped a potato chip into his mouth before talking. He looks jaded, but at the same time, has gotten used to his little sister causing a ruckus around the house.
"Well, my friend ... That place is off-limits and the authorities say we shouldn't go near that place," he said.
"What do you think is in that place?" Milo asked.
"Nobody knows for sure, but they had closed that off following the deadly Magrana virus outbreak ten years ago," Leo said.
TheΒ Magrana outbreakΒ was caused by the virus of the same name. It has left people with huge bloody boils on their bodies, their blood becoming infected until their insides resemble the pulps of a real pomegranate. Hence, its Catalan name "magrana."
Since it started on that island, it had to be closed off while its residents are forbidden from ever leaving.
"I doubt that," Irene refuted, "How come it was never broadcasted on TV? Besides, that story is just made up by some kid from BreadIt*."
She argued that there was no way the Magrana virus existed, though something similar was called the Mariana disease except it didn't turn people's insides into pulps.
"Do you think the government is hiding a secret bioweapon in there?" Jin asked.
"Maybe," the rest answered in chorus.
Irene then told Milo about how the subject of The Red Bubble is a rather sensitive topic in this country. You are not allowed to share any personal theories or try diving into this case yourself in public spaces - most notably, on social media.
Of course, spreading them is forbidden. However, it is fine to keep it within a limited group.
"Either you riskΒ losingΒ your online privileges or if you're lucky, be requested to take down the -Β " she was suddenly stopped when Leo's camera disappeared from the chat.
"Oh no ... It's his darn Internet connection again!" Jin face-palmed.
* NOTE: - "BreadIt" is a parody of the website called Reddit.
