Dangerflow

Take one part hip-hop, one part soul, add a dash of Afro-Cuban rhythms, shake well and enjoy. These carefully-blended ingredients make up the sound of South Florida's most exciting & refreshing hip-hop band, Dangerflow.  Dangerflow brings its hip-hop beat to the crowd with a cocktail of live percussion and funky guitars. Led by both a socially conscious wordsmith and soulful vocalist, the danceable sound doesn't come without substance. With influences that range from The Roots to Gym Class Heroes, the group makes sure to include an inspiring message in nearly every song. Dangerflow has been perfecting its signature sound since 2007 and released their debut album Win, Lose or Die in 2011.   They are recipients of the Miami New Times 2009 Best Caribbean Band Award and the 2011 Miami New Times Readers’ Poll Best Band Award. While the band has been busy performing, they have also been using their music to affect social change. In 2008, Dangerflow performed at the United States Conference on AIDS and have been collaborating with community-based organizations to inspire Miami’s youth.  Currently, Dangerflow teaches Hip-Hop Empowerment Workshops to address social issues that youth face today.  Hip-Hop Empowerment consists of musical activities including creative writing, making beats, and discussions about hip-hop as a cultural force.  Through team-building exercises, Dangerflow demonstrates how music can influence youth to make positive choices. The workshop also addresses career development and goals. The band uses their own example on how Dangerflow started from the ground up and their use of resources and social media to gain success. The workshops have been conducted at Miami-Dade Public Schools, Miami Bridge Family and Youth Services, and Miami-Dade Juvenile Detention Center.  Additionally, the band works closely with the Miami Council for International Visitors (MCIV).  Through MCIV, Dangerflow has developed global partnerships and has performed with Vocal Motion 6 from Namibia, Prissk from Cote D’Ivoire, and Affrikkanitha from Angola. Dangerflow has performed for numerous charitable events for non-profit agencies including Stand Up for Kids and Dwyane Wade’s World Foundation  Since 2009, Dangerflow has been working with the Miami Heat performing at the American Airlines Arena and developing songs for Sunsports/ Heat TV.  In addition, Dangerflow's single, The Crown, was featured in the Miami Heat documentaries Into the Fire and The Crown.  The single was also featured on ESPN Sportscenter, Monster Energy/ X Games video, MTV, and in a commercial for the 2012 Australian Open Tennis Championship. Their most recent single, Fall Before You Fly, has been used by the Miami Marlins and Fox Sports to promote the 2013-2014 Major League Baseball season and was also featured on ESPN.  Their second full-length album, Fall Before You Fly, will be released in early 2015.
