He takes the knife after only a second's consideration, doing his best to mimic her stance and throw. He fails. The knife hits the tree, but bounces off of the bark instead of sticking into it as intended.
(Leon doesn't seem all that disappointed.)

"What, got a problem with corporate talk?" Homelander says, though of course he speaks in jest - he's no fan of it, either. "Can't say I blame you for that. Saying what they want us to say, hearing what they want us to hear ... It gets kind of old after a while."
Which isn't to say Homelander isn't good at following Vought's instructions and thinking like the product he is; appearances are everything, in his line of work.
But that Homelander let that whine comment slip, and got met with agreement, and even a shoulder bump, an act that is so cordial and so human, and so unlike where he's come from ...
It feels genuine.
If he dared, Homelander might say that it even feels like Leon likes him more for having said it. What else could the shoulder bump mean, if not camaraderie?
"Well, friend, if you want to get away from our babysitters for a longer period, I can take you to another city in a blink. For now, though ... Let's just say I don't believe a word of that 'inter-corporate synergy' stuff they had me spewing. I give Macro Cosmos and Vought a month."
And then, Homelander bumps Leon's shoulder - mindful of his strength, of course.
"I'd like it if you stuck around, though."

His smile widens as the gesture is returned. It's no secret among the League that Leon is a physically affectionate person — he's always happy to accept hugs from fans and patting his opponents on the back after a battle well-fought — but the ever-watching eye of forced professionalism starts breathing down his neck if he dares to offer anything more intimate than a handshake. It's nice to be able to express himself freely here, to stop acting like a Champion and to act instead like Leon.
This is definitely how to get a friend.
❝ A month is generous. They'll all pally-pally for the first week or so, but I bet you as soon as the real business starts they'll be locking horns over every little thing. Leon himself is rather unfazed by the whole affair, having had a full two decades to come to terms with his uncanny ability to breathe underwater and traverse large swathes of the seafloor with ease, and is still looking around at his surroundings as if expecting the Isle to manifest out of thin air like a desert mirage.
...He can still make Alola work, though. Training is training!

In case the sarcasm dripping from his tone isn't indicator enough, Leon's eagerness to escape the clutches of their respective entourages is surely proof that he's just as tired of the official hand-holding as Galar's guest is. Indeed, having a whinge and whine about the petty frustrations of it all sounds like heaven compared to the overly-rehearsed talks they could be made to endure.
It's silly, he knows, but the more corporate responsibilities of the Champion role have always felt like a physical weight upon his shoulders. His presence in those awful meetings always feels like a formality, a reassurance that even the great, unbeatable Leon will dance to a rich man's tune and jump through every hoop put in front of him. He'll smile and nod and sign his name on the dotted line, all while the nameless men in suits whose faces he never bothers committing to memory talk over his head.
❝ Besides, ❞ he laughs, nudging Homelander's shoulder with his own, ❝ who knows when we'll next be alone like this? Might as well get it all out now, before our babysitters find us. ❞
