Youngest daughter of Daphne Danvers and younger sister to Daisy Danvers, Sloane always had her eyes set on stardom from a young age. She didn’t know how but she knew she wouldn’t be just any old resident in Aurora Bay, she had her aims set much higher.
When she started showing a talent for ballet as a young child it was a no brainer for her to focus on that aspect of her life, her mother nurturing the side of her daughter that excelled towards great things. Always encouraging, making sure she had everything she needed to get to the top of her game. Sloane took her dancing very seriously, eyes set on New York from her early teenage years.
Thick skinned and tough she was never someone to be messed with, even when she was prancing around in her baby pink tutu there was an air of danger about the redhead that let it be known she could flip on a dime. With her mother’s fiery temper very much intact.
When she turned eighteen she was admitted to Joffrey Ballet School, and her path to the New York Ballet was well and truly set in stone. Her dreams of becoming prima now in her opinion just a matter of when, no longer if. Spending every moment she had in her day practicing, she refused to settle for anything less than perfection, the heaviest weight the one she placed on her own shoulders.
Graduating top of her class she was a shoe in for the New York ballet, starting off in the chorus just like everyone else, but Sloane was truly living her dream. No, she wasn’t going to just settle for background though, not for a second. Every role she got was a stepping stone towards the one she truly wanted. Juliet in Romeo & Juliet, Odette in Swan Lake, Giselle in Giselle, she was determined that one day she would be the one dancing in the spotlight at Lincoln Center.
When she was twenty four something happened to Sloane that felt like a dream and a nightmare all rolled into one. Seemingly singled out by one of the higher ups in the ballet company it was heavily implied that if she was to give herself to him *entirely* she would be rewarded in the form of a higher position in the company. She knew it was wrong, she knew it wasn’t how it should be done, but the taste of Prima was on the tip of her tongue and Sloane relented. She became the girl who slept her way to the top.
She thought stepping out onto that stage as Clara that first Christmas in The Nutcracker would feel like every dream was coming true, and it was special, but the voice in the back of her head telling her she hadn’t earned it was ever present, and ever since it’s never left her. She carried on with the illicit affair as was required of her to keep securing the coveted roles, leading to her being disliked by a lot of other dancers who couldn’t understand why she was having all the best roles bestowed upon her so easily. But in the background there was nothing easy about what was going on.
The man, Harrison, who had taken advantage of her need to strive for the top became controlling, nasty even, and Sloane fell into the world of alcohol and drugs. Sometimes he supplied them, sometimes she got them from other sources, either way she found a way to get her fix. Cocaine often, occasionally pharmaceuticals, on top o the appetite suppressants she was already on to keep her figure, her health was becoming a total mess. Both mental and physical. Still her pig headed determination to be the best kept her eyes on the prize, night after night she went out to dance, day after day she would train for hours on end.
When Harrison found out he was not the only one Sloane was conducting extra curricular activities with he flew into a rage, threatening her, declaring that he was going to ruin her unless she stopped. She had to be exclusive to him. His little puppet, that’s how it felt at least, and she told him she would. Except that was just impossible, Sloane had no interest in the man, he was just the only way to keep her career. On the side she was meeting other people that captured her heart even from the depths she’d buried it a long time ago, making her feel a tiny bit valued, and she couldn’t get enough.
Well, the threat he’d given her when he first found out about Sloane sleeping around finally came to fruition when she was entering her fourth year as Prima for the New York Ballet. Weeks out from opening Sleeping Beauty as Princess Aurora he made good on his word, spreading around the industry how she’d managed to get to the top. The things she’d done, most of which had been forced upon her by him, but funnily enough that part had been left out. The narrative twisted until it looked like she’d pursued him with the ultimatum, that she had taken the drugs to improve her stamina or calm her anxiety. He painted her as a disgrace, and soon no one would touch her with a barge pole.
With no other option Sloane left the city to return to Aurora Bay where she had grown up. Furious, humiliated, broken, and out to get anyone who even looked at her wrong. The girl was a shell of the person who’d left for the city over ten years ago and that was obvious to anyone who knew her. Still riddled with addictions and an eating disorder she was nothing short of a bitch to be around. Icy, Sloane had tried to cut herself off emotionally to avoid the pain of getting hurt again, the pain of what had already happened running so deep inside her. Wearing a mask of someone who didn’t care, but she did. God did she care.
Sloane loves fashion, music, make up, partying. She is in essence the typical girly girl. Spends too much time posting on instagram (Although this is bad for her since it’s often followed by a barrage of horrible comments from people on her photos) she is the baby of the Danvers family and boy does she know it. A total mommy’s girl, she’s returned back to her family house with a broken wing. Trying to down her pain in frivolous activities because deep down she’s convinced she’s no longer worth anything. On the outside it might look like Sloane Sloane Danvers is overflowing with confidence, but underneath the facade there is no one who hates the redhead more than herself. No one who puts more pressure on her for perfection than herself. No one who expects more from her than herself.
