keep replying to their announcement post, both versions. keep sending feedback. cancel Tumblr Premium. leave 1 star reviews on the app store. interact with all the posts about this you can and let everyone know what they're doing. however you are engaging, be loud, and be unsatisfied.

Artists/writers/other creators: if someone popular adds a comment to your work, you now get zero credit for any engagement from that version of the post. Congrats, staff, you fucked it.

Gimmick blogs: Now inadvertently hijacking others’ posts. These are already a bit controversial as some folks find them annoying, but now like heritage post blogs or detector blogs or even fucking hellsite-genetics are creating alternate versions of posts that are more likely to take off and cut off OP from their own damn notes.

We can’t even have “investing at x notes” anymore. You can’t peer-review others’ tags without making a version of the post the OP can’t even see. Hell, harassment will probably be way easier, as the OP can’t tell if when someone comment-reblogged their post it blows up in a hateful corner of this hellhole.

This update breaks:

Any kind of collaborative, "yes and type" post, which is like 95% the point of this website

Making any friends bc you now won't interact with anyone's posts in any meaningful way unless you're an asshole that should get blocked.

Organising your blog with tags, so you'll be able to find something again

Tagging potentially triggering content so others can block and not see it

Adding image description or any disability aid

This is so hateful. Some of this literally makes Tumblr unsafe for parts of its users.

I'd say add anything I missed, but obviously we now live in a world where we DON'T want people to engage with our posts...

I sincerely doubt staff will reverse this, so I can only hope someone will be able to make a plugin to sidestep this in time.
