I have recently fallen in love with the TFOTA themed jewels from https://gadgetforentertainment.com/en
So if anyone knows other websites which sell the same type of jewelry (book inspired, faery themed, you got the idea) I would be really really happy to know it !
Also, I'm thinking about creating (or trying to, anyway) my own jewelry, so if anybody has any tips about how, with what, where to buy the pearls and chains and everything, I would also like that.
Thank you ! ♥
I just saw Joker Folie a deux
And it was disappointing.
More under the cut. There isn't really any spoiler but better be safe than sorry.
I hate Five and Lila's relationship as much as everyone, and it was a really shitty behaviour on their part toward Diego, but why do I keep seeing Dolores being mentioned as "Five's wife" and "Five cheated on Dolores" ? She's. A. Mannequin. She's not even a she, she's an it ! An object, something Five had to rely on to keep his sanity when he was alone in the apocalypse. This was not a relationship, this was not healthy behaviour, this was a psychological mechanism as a defense against madness. Something that Five had time to overcome during the following seasons (I don't remember the timeline, but there is at the very least the six years ellipse at the beginning of the 4th season.
Did I forgot some important detail about Dolores or is everyone just being weird ? There is so much to criticize on the season, we don't need to add Five as a cheater to the list.
Really disappointed by the end of the umbrella academy Season 4. The season has some problems that I easily overlooked during my watching because I liked the vibes. But wtf is this ending ?! Give me a happy ending ! Thanks to some cosmic intervention they were still all born the same day and could meet and be happy together in the One True Timeline, as friends if not as family ! What the fuck ! And all the cameo of previous antagonists (if I'm not mistaken in recognizing them) being all happy and normal but our heroes don't deserve that apparently. I'm full of (negative) feelings and this probably isn't the last time I speak about tua S4.

Okay, I need an opinion here: I feel like people are either SJM fans, or they are Cruel Prince fans. I know that there are people who like both, but if they had to pick one, they’d have an opinion.
Thoughts on this? I personally hated the way SJM utilized mythology and religion in her books, but I adored the way Holly Black used fairy folklore to the proper extent. SJM’s main characters are utterly annoying and I can’t find reasons to like them despite how hard I try. It was easy to like Jude. With SJM, there would be one character in a series that I could stomach or get behind. With Holly Black, I enjoyed most if not all of the cast of characters, particularly when it came to their nuances and complexities. I also feel as a whole, the Cruel Prince fandom is far less toxic than any SJM fandom.
These are the ramblings of a physically ill college kid (it’s funny how I can only read SJM books or feel angry about the books when I’m particularly sick and delusional), but I would love to hear what you guys think!
I'm definitely a Cruel Prince girl. Holly Black is my queen. And I can't stand SJM, so I think you're right it's one or the other, rarely both together.
That said, I'm in the ACOTAR fandom (hatedom ?) and not in The Cruel Prince fandom (just reading analysis to gain depth and some perspective) and I think it's precisely because I respectively love and hate these series. To me, TFOTA world is perfect as it is and there nothing to change, I just have to sit on my ass and drool over the worldbuilding, characters and plots. On the other hand, I already acknowledged that ACOTAR has A LOT of potential. Only this potential is wasted in SJM's hand, so fandom (and antis) took matters in their own hands. And that's what I love in ACOTAR fandom.
Does Feyre Want her Family's Help or Does she just like to bitch?
While listening to Acotar last year my fiance had me pause the audiobook to ask me a few questions.
1. Does Feyre show Papa Archeron how to skin and clean her kills?
2. Does she ask Elain to grow vegetables instead of flowers? (Do they sell her flowers to a perfume maker?)
3. Does she get Nesta gloves to help with the splinters?
4. Does Feyre ask Elain to take their father's carvings to town to sell them? (Maybe Feyre could paint them and they could be toymakers. Why is she angry the crippled man doesn't want to walk to town?)
And most importantly
5. Does she ask for help or just stomp around grumbling like a mother cleaning up dinner? Wishing someone would read her mind instead of actually asking for help.
He then said that if she hasn't done those things, she likes being the victim. She likes to bitch. She's the martyr of the Archeron family. And likes it that way.
Never thought about it but yeah. I'm currently (still) rereading ACOMAF (it's been two months i'm on it, i can't manage to read this one, please save me) and the more i read about Feyre, the more i dislike her. It's already established that 1) Elain and Nesta were not sitting in the cottage doing nothing, they were doing the house chores despite what Feyre had to say about it 2) per SJM, Feyre can't do no wrong and is always the victim of... the universe, i guess ? So it doesn't surprise me at all that her victimisation began even before I realized it.
Quick question : I wanted to go in the anti nesta tag, because it's always interesting to know what others think about something, if they make some valid points, because I like to challenge my own opinions. However I love reading characters analysis and I couldn't find any, so does anyone know some anti nesta/pro IC (I guess they're one and the same) blog where I could find in-depth analysis of Nesta/other characters/acotar worldbuilding ?
Thank you !
who do you think is the most realistic abuser between rhysand and tamlin?
Hi anon!!!
I feel like the overblown for Tamlin has a specific function, and so I usually end-up disagreeing with anti-Tamlin (not criticisms, but this particular crowd of people - if you know, you know ) sentiments. First and foremost, Tamlin and Rhys are purposely made into foils; that is, we are supposed to look at their actions and compare – once we get to MAF. In the first book, the story isn’t necessarily trying to make a point about Tamlin, so the ‘red flags’ being pointed out aren’t moments of intentional, tactical abuse.
I don’t think there’s an actual ‘realistic’ way to experience abuse. I don’t think it’s an adequate way to talk about abuse because there isn’t a universal experience with abuse. Everyone’s experience is different! There are signs, and staples that can help people identify abusive partners and/or experiences, but those experiences in and of themselves are unique, as is the response to abuse. I’ve always thought of Tamlin as a blank canvas that can be imposed upon. He’s abusive, in the fact he does a string of abusive things. He has all the hallmarks of an abuser…but none of the threads that make him feel…like anything more than a canvas, in my opinion. Like – I see how people see their abuser in him, but I also don’t believe he’s a very consistent character. He doesn’t do things for the same reasons, as MaF tries to argue; he also doesn’t act the same between those books. It’s subjective, but character wise he doesn’t stay the same. I’m sorry, but I genuinely disagree with the way Feyre characterizes Tamlin. If the story argues that Tamlin developed abusive tendencies because of his trauma, great! But like,,,the story tries to argue that he was always like that, and Feyre just never noticed and I just…disagree. I have my issues with Tamlin, naturally, but I think the reason Rhys is much scarier to me, is that he consistently has the same justification, with seemingly no introspection. He gets away with the abuse because he is constantly sympathized with. The only reason I don’t dislike Tamlin is because he faces consequences. Rhys doesn’t. He also does the same abusive things to Feyre in like…every book. He doesn’t have a character arc. So, it’s not realism I’m looking at, but consistency.
The more fruitful question should be consistency. Is the dynamic between Tamlin and Feyre consistent, and my answer to that is no. I don’t believe we get a pattern of abuse that is consistent across the two books Tamlin is heavily featured. Tamlin having anger issues is a characteristic that merely exists, for one, because Tamlin is naturally an adaptation of another character and therefore embodies those characteristics. It’s not to say that Tamlin doesn’t have a particular way of handling trauma (see: violence), but that consistently, Tamlin has always known to remove himself from the general public when he does. We never see him leverage his violence against his peers or Feyre ever – even when Feyre is effectively his prisoner. So while his anger is a consistent character trait, it isn’t a consistent abusive Trait. It’s also…the norm for stress relief in this society (see: Rhys + Cass + Az’s schedule beat downs to ‘calm rhys down’). He’s also never used violence against anyone in the entirety of TaR to ‘calm down.’
This is a change for Rhys, as discussed in a previous post, who actively does consistently leverage violence against Feyre (and his Inner Circle) since his introduction in the first book. Tamlin, as initially characterized, is revulsed so heavily by having to hurt his people, that he physically cannot go through with Amarantha’s curse. He chooses his people. He is disgusted with having to whip Lucien. He physically couldn’t stand what Amarantha did to Lucien’s eye – so much so that he vomited as soon as he saw it. In MaF, this entire dynamic (not just his abuse of Feyre, but of his citizens) becomes of focal point. The story tries to argue that Tamlin would willingly harm his own soldiers, and Lucien, when in the first book he literally stood against Amarantha and refused to participate in the curse, with no power. Tamlin doesn’t allow Feyre to leave the house in MaF, yet in TAR, when Feyre is attacked by those monsters in the forest, Tamlin literally just tells Feyre to be careful when she goes out, he tells her to stay close when he’s not there, and they leave it at that. Tamlin doesn’t ask Feyre ‘what does she want from’, as we established. All I’m saying is there’s no consistency in this behaviour. The story can’t even figure out whether Tamlin has always been like this or has just become like this.
And then my next question become has Tamlin ever leveraged violence against Feyre, prior to the events of MaF – and the answer is no. So not only is it not consistent on a character level, it isn’t even consistent between the dynamic between Feyre and Tamlin. When Tamlin initially falls in love with Feyre, he falls in love with the human girl. He doesn’t want a Lady – he doesn’t even believe he’s going to make it out alive. He falls in love with her because she isn’t just that, and he literally subtly shunned the way his mother would not say anything when his father became a tyrant. He’s essentially telling Feyre he doesn’t want her to be like his mother. So like, even that angle is again, not consistent with what we’ve seen. Snd because of this, people have purposely insert and add things to make him look like a worse character because like there’s nothing in that proves Tamlin is worse than Rhys as the book kind of argues.
No, Feyre, they did not make you weak. You were traumatized from UtM and were retching your meals every night. This is not their fault. I assume "they" are Tamlin, Ianthe and Lucien which, they do have their faults, but they certainly didn't make you weak, not if we speak about nutrition. They could've spoonfed you (and you would have hated it) and you would still have had nightmares and puke because of them.
I'm sorry, I really didn't want to tag anti feyre on my blog but rereading ACOMAF I just can't with her.

Almost all the characters in ACOTAR are terrible people in one way or another.
I'm personally pro Nesta and Tamlin and anti IC because the narrative tend to villify Nesta and Tamlin while absolving the IC of all wrong-doing, and really, that's my big problem with the books and the fandom. So I guess my point is thank you SJM for the story you created, I admit there is a lot of potential in this world and its characters, but infortunately you wasted it for me with how you handled them.
Nesta's bond was the Cauldron's vengeance.
That's canon I don't care
What the fuck Feyre. What. The. Fucking. Fuck.
About racism in ACOTAR
I hate the expression "lesser faerie". It's really horrible to name entire species like this, and more so to call them "lesser" to their face. Plus, we already know that you're racist and arrogant, it's in your name : High Fae. We get it, you're better than everyone else, blabla. No need to overkill it and call others the "lesser" beings, it's insensitive and frankly, if we think about it, it can also come across as insecure. "I'm a HIGH FAE I'm BETTER than you, you're LESSER" yeah yeah, we know.
SJM did not think real hard about this and it's sadden me, because writing about fae is really about limitless opportunities. Faes have some rules like no lying, or the time in fae realms is weird, and some others (and we all know that SJM followed and respected exactly zero of those rules). But as with their appearances and their powers, writers can go crazy and do almost anything they want. And we have SJM, renowned all around the world for her ACOTAR series and her fae writing, and what does she serve us ? Bland ass character. The most human looking her fae are, the most powerful they are. The most "high". Like, not only her faes are raging misogynists, they're also racists. We want escapism, not a carbon copy of our own world with a pinch of glamour
Also, I want to talk about Cassian. Now, we know that Illyrians are considered with contempt by about everyone, so I won't bother pulling quotes from the book. We also know that Cassian, as a bastard, know what it's like to be rejected and hated for something he has no control over, here, his birth. He was just born this way, exactly like "lesser faeries" are born this way. And yet, all Cassian has to say on the matter is : "and we're not lesser faeries, though some try to call us that. We're just — Illyrians". (ACOMAF, chapter 16 page 151) Maybe he doesn't mean anything but it's just feel so... condescendant to me. I feel like there is a subtext of "we're better than lesser faeries" in his phrase.
So. I guess there is no real point to this rant except that SJM is a shitty author. She can't name a specie (or rather, specieS, plural) "lesser faeries" and just leave it there and expect the readers to merrily keep on reading about Feysand fucking in the sky. There is so many issues with using the name "lesser faeries" that need to be adressed. And I genuinely think that SJM just didn't understand that there were issues in using this name in the first place. It's kind of impressive having so little thoughts about your own worldbuilding and about the words you're using when, you know, you're a writer.
So... yeah. If you have thoughts about it, I would love to exchange !
Okay so we all know that Maas' worldbuilding is shakey at best but I'd just like to complain about one aspect of ACoTaR that particularly pisses me off
People have probs already pointed this out but I like to rant so here we go lads: why the fuck is there a patriarchy
Like. There is legitimately no reason for the Fae to be misogynistic?? Now I loathe fantasy discrimination anyway (this is escapism, why does your world need sexism/racism/homophobia/etc?? If it's not relevant then take it out please) and there's obvs no reason for it irl but at least we can trace it back historically to certain cultures or events. But in the world Maas created misogyny is... so out of place. Allow me to explain
Let's start with the human cultures, shall we? Now they were enslaved for hundreds, if not thousands of years. Long enough that they had no collective memory or record of a time pre-enslavement. Therefore, their cultures would logically be derived from the Fae - so if the Fae didn't discriminate against people of a certain race/gender/sexuality/etc, then neither would the humans because they'd have no reason to, with no religion or culture to justify their hatred. Maybe individuals would harbour hatred for certain groups, but as a people, humanity logically wouldn't discriminate. So it all comes down to why the Fae ingrained sexism into their human slaves
So onto the Fae. They value power over everything, right? Strong magic = strong person. And since magic is shown to have no gender bias whatsoever... why would they develop one as a culture? Surely it'd make sense to have a system based on power instead of gender? Why would the magic of a High Lord never pass on to a daughter?? The only reason is Maas decided the world was sexist - it doesn't actually make any sense, and is never given an in-world reason seeing as the Cauldron itself is shown to have no problem making a woman powerful (see: Mor, Elain, Amarantha, and literally any other powerful woman in the series apart from Nesta, Feyre and Amren, who obvs weren't given their powers). There shouldn't be a bias against women in terms of power, as the Fae society shouldn't have a single reason to generate one
However, if you really wanted sexism in this fantasy setting, you would have grounds to argue society should have been a matriarchy. Think about it, if power is distributed the same, what's the one notable gender difference? The gender of their fucking god - the Mother. She is explicitly a woman, so if Fae society was going favour a gender, it'd logically be women. And humanity would follow suit, after being indoctrinated into this culture for however long and losing any knowledge they might have had regarding their own gods and culture
Tldr: there's literally no fucking reason for Maas to have written a patriarchal society other than the fact that she can't fathom a world that doesn't directly mirror our own

About the political power of Rhys and the IC
When we think about it, being in Rhysand's IC means that they have less political powers than his opponents. Because firstly, the IC always agree with whatever Rhysand is saying, and if they don't, too bad, because he won't listen to them. And secondly, they don't even do anything of importance as a government/political body.
However, if we speak about a Illyrian Lord or Keir (and the CoN's residents he represents), then Rhys must negociate with them and absolutely can't be on their bad side, and so he allows them to abuse their position and their powers on those weakers than them, and to perpetuate harmful traditions.
Rhys is a bad ruler. He can only enforce his authority on people who already agree with him (or, if they don't agree, won't do anything about it). His opponents don't respect him (see the Illyrians who don't respect the clipping ban) and still, Rhys respects them more than his own friends.
(Hello Mor, how do you feel about regularly seeing your abusive father in Velaris' street because Rhys couldn't be respected as a ruler ? Are you feeling respected, powerful and like your place as the Night Court 3rd (4th if we count Feyre) is anything more than a pretty title than Rhys gave you just because ?)
I feel like Rhysand doesn't understand that being a High Lord means you have responsabilities. It doesn't mean that you can micromanage the lives of your close friends/family circle. It means that you have a country to rule. Like, one of the first decisions Rhys made as a High Lord (beside appointing his friends in his government, because that's exactly how a government should be formed) is to give the right to the CoN to rule themselves. NO ! Please for the love of god that's not how you should rule. No wonder they don't respect Rhysand and feel like he is intruding in their business everytime he goes there. Technically speaking, that's exactly what he is doing. Because he gave them the right to rule themselves. Urgh.
And for the Illyrians, does Rhys think that having a ban on wings clipping is going to be enough ? The real work is on changing mentalities. No wonder "change takes time" when you aren't doing anything to initiate the change. Especially when you don't do a thing to punish those who break the law.
I suspect all these people disrespecting and hating Rhysand has nothing to do with him being half-Illyrian, half-High Fae, nor with him being "feminist" or "progressive" ; and all about him being a lazy, arrogant ass who hasn't done a single day of ruling in his whole life.
Edit : I just noticed I called Keir and the Illyrian lords "opponents" rather than "subordinates". It was totally unconscious (? Is it the good word ? Not sure. I mean, it was not a deliberate decision from my part). But it's rather telling isn't it ? Rhys shouldn't have to negociate with them because they're his subordinates. For some unfathomable reason, he choses to accommodate them.
@nestaarcheronweek Day 3 - Self Care
Self care is calling your sister's bluff and moving away from the Night Court instead of to the House of Wind.
Listen, I fully believe if Nesta and Tamlin got to compare notes on how the NC treats them they could have bonded. And it would be hilarious.
The art is cute and funny !!
I lowkey ship Neslin now. Tamlin playing the fiddle while Nesta is dancing ; the Spring fashion is better suited to Nesta imo ; there are both not great with people (they would have a rocky start lmao)... Yeah, this ship has great potential.
Nesta could do real healing, and so could Tamlin. And thinking about the IC throwing a tantrum about Neslin being together is the cherry on the cake.
