What turned out to be a decision making process ended up being a very interesting social media experiment. Just how much does race influence your decision making? Most often we look at products, magazines or images and how much does the PERSON in the image help to influence your decision? I posted mock covers for the hard cover version of my Lighting Diagram book that will be distributed to the Light Is Light Workshop participants. The first image was Caucasian brunette model, the third image was of an dark skinned African American model with intricate braids and African tribal markings. Each image was strong in its own right, and there would've been no "wrong" choice in what image I would use. I posted it in various photography groups (some exclusively black, some multicultural as well as international). Something interesting started to appear. More than 90% of the Black photographers gravitated to the Black cover, where a equally high percentage of the whites gravitated towards the White one (the brunette).
