Dallas wouldn’t know what she’d be doing or where she’d be if it weren’t for Kala. It was surprising that Luke also helped too but the half-demon thought it was just something to do with Skylar coming down to beat the shit out of her. At the mention of her mother influencing her, Dallas just casted her eyes down as she shrugged since she didn’t know what to say to that. 

Though that mood quickly sobered up when she could hear those heals coming down those stairs. Her head whipped around and saw the boss’ sister scanning the floor as she descended, only to smile when their eyes locked. “Oh no..” She mumbled, “I.. I think she wants to .. talk to me? She just wants to talk to me right?” She grabbed onto Oz before she saw Dylan motioned her to follow. “….Save me.” She whispered before begrudgingly making her way across the floor to meet the other. 

At the question, Oz made a show of glancing around at their surroundings and said, “I mean, we’re certainly not in the Canopy two, so I can’t imagine there’s anything much more physical she’d want from you…”

Normally, if felt someone grab onto her without prior warning, things would turn bad quite quickly. Now, however, she was fully aware this was a friend and that said friend very much did not feel comfortable with the idea of speaking with the older woman alone. “It’s alright, babes. I’ll be following right behind you. If she tries anything I can provide a distraction.”

Oz couldn’t help but look at the girl with sympathy. “Kala does often seem to be an effective advocate for you, but I think a lot of the folks in town that would have reason to be upset, are also on the more kind-hearted side of the spectrum. They understand that what you did wasn’t entirely without your mother’s life-long influence over you.”

She let out a small laugh at the aspect of Dylan’s personality that Dallas chose to highlight after stating the woman was scary. “If you find that scary, I suggest never watching The Devil Wears Prada alone in the dark,” she remarked before nodding towards the stairs. “Speaking of devils though…”

Oz made a face and said, “Well, that’s kind of what happens when you upset the local pack’s youngest member: anyone in the pack, and anyone who knows anyone in the pack are bound to be upset with you about it. Honestly? Considering the technicalities of what you did, just be glad they decided not to press any charges. Supernatural Supermax is not a place for a holiday.”

Taking a drink, she snorted at the remark and said, “Damien is the one to be wary about because he’s unpredictable and has zero limits. Dylan, on the other hand, will always stop shy of anything that would harm her vested interests.”

“Yeah... I see that.”  She made a face matching Oz’s. It really wasn’t her smartest move to hurt the youngest of the pack. Everyone was very protective of the girl and she was just lucky to get away with just minor injuries when girl’s ex came over uninvited. “I get it.. I know I got lucky with with.. well, everyone in town - even with all the hunters. It’s most likely because of Kala.”

“They both scare me.” She sighed, “Dylan treats everyone like they’re her assistant or something.” Was it because they were talking about the siblings that she felt a sudden chill run down her back? The dj started looking behind her, around her to see if the demon siblings were around.

Oz let out a cloud of smoke before stating, “Any place that has a community of supernaturals, will always have a network in place that allows any news about things that may threaten supernatural safety to travel as fast as possible to all who need be warned. And nowhere is that network going to be faster than in a small-town where the community all seems to be related somehow.”

The blonde shrugged before putting out her smoke with a pinch and saving the remaining half. “Everyone knows that Damien will give her however long she decides she needs to complain, brag, gossip, you name it.”

“Exactly.. so everyone basically knows what I did.” She sighed, “This and my place is probably the only places I can go... safely.” Not that anyone was going to attack her, but it was a good way to ensure there were less chances of running into the group. “Kala and Evan.. and you guys are pretty much the only people who are willing to speak with me.”

At the idea of Dylan complaining, Dallas let out a cringe, “So she’s going to be up there for a while then.” She sighed as she motioned for the bartender to give her another drink. “She scares me.. A lot.” 

“Well, when he hired me, he only had the one club,” she noted. “I think he assumed if I could handle one club, one more DJ should be enough to handle two. Which may have worked if either of us was willing to deal with the second venue for longer than needed,” she chuckled. Nodding at the statement, Oz stated, “You really shouldn’t have started to begin with, mate. This is a club. People come here to get drunk and forget their sad bitch hours, not get drunk and wind up crying and depressed.”

Blonde waves bounced around as Oz nodded her head. “It wasn’t meant to be taken literal mate. More so asking if you really wanted the whole town to know you were being a right pansy after being made to face the consequences of your actions, or if maybe you’d like to keep that just between those of us who already know. But, I bet you found it awkward as hell when those cashiers did share. Same for the clubgoers mate….at least same for me.” Oz lit up a cigarette and said, “Kala’s right, as usual. But I’d hold off on hitting D’s office. Dylan is in there with him right now.”

Dallas knew she made a mistake by playing the sad music, but she always worked well when she could vibe with the music - dance music just wasn’t it at the time. Regardless, the damage was done so the demon gave a half-hearted shrug. “Noted.” 

She looked up at her coworker with clear confusion on her face. “.. The whole town knows what I did, don’t they?” It was a miracle that some weren’t as upset with her as others but everyone seemed to know what went down. She just happened to know the girl with the most connections so by default, everyone would know what happened if Skylar’s visit didn’t already make it obvious. Dallas froze after hearing the boss’ sister was here. “She’s.. a lot. Do you know how long she’ll be here for?”

“Eh, don’t sweat it,” she reassured, “Staffing properly is Damien’s problem, not yours. Any club owner worth his wait in salt would know that only two DJs on rotation when you have two venues to cater to is already bad maths.” She had taken to using the pre-mixed sets that Dallas didn’t take and just letting those play at the Canopy while she did live mixing at the Canopy 2. Not her ideal way around, but with dancers being so reliant on the music, it was a necessary swap.

“As for the songs, I get that heartbreak sucks. Believe me, I do. But this?” she gestured around, and landed on the currently empty DJ booth, “This is our job. There are certain songs that I know affect me on a personal level, and I have made it a rule to never include them in any setlist and always politely refuse to play them if requested. You wouldn’t tell a customer your story with Tomi with if you were a cashier at a fast food joint would you?”

“I’m.. surprised that he only hired the two of us..” To think that the two of them rotated was because they didn’t want to stay in Canopy 2 for too long. “... We should really bring this up to Damien.. Maybe he’ll hire another DJ to help.” Dallas looked up at her coworker, “So.. Basically, I should stop playing sad songs in general.” The dancers had been complaining about them too. 

“Well.. I’ve had cashiers share stories before.. I - I didn’t ask for them. I guess it was a slow day for them...” She looked up in the direction of the boss’ office. “...I should go discuss it with him. Maybe he’ll let me in the booth sooner. Kala said I should stop moping around too.” 

Oz nodded in silence before saying, “Yeah, nah mate. They were pretty fucking depressing. And I would know.” She took a drink from her water bottle -no drinking on the job was a personal policy- before giving a small shrug and saying, “I don’t really know, but I can’t figure it’ll be much longer. I’ve already told him I’m picking up any additional shifts because I have a day job that actually pays my bills.”

“...Mmm.. I’ll figure something out. I don’t want him to bench me again because I still can’t get those songs ‘out of my system’.” Fortunately, she was feeling less depressed now that time had passed. Still a bit bummed because she also hadn’t really seen Tomi since - and when she did at the gym, the girl was surrounded by literally everyone which definitely made it hard to talk to her. “Sorry..” She mumbled, feeling bad that Oz had to cover for her for a while now. 

“Remind me again why you can’t play your sets anymore?” Oz asked, a tone of genuine curiosity only mildly tinged by mischief. “Oh right, I remember now,” she quickly followed, “Because you started turning every night into emo night…and not even the good kind. I told you to just stick to the pre-mixed sets I left for you.”

“They weren’t that emo.. I like the songs though.” She frowned before looking back at her drink. “When do you think Damien’s going to let me DJ my own lists again? I feel like he might just fire me soon if I don’t get back into it.” It was nice of Oz to give her a few playlists to work with but it wasn’t the same as having her own mixes. 

Luke nodded as Dallas spoke. “Well, I’m sure if anyone would be able to make an educated assumption in regards to what effect the reports may or may not have had overall, it would certainly be a Guild member. Regardless, the head of the Guild in town hasn’t been fully looped in, and my understanding is that Kala is still a bit of an entry level agent so there may be information she’s not fully briefed on. I still feel that coming fully clean with the right authority figures in he supernatural community will go a long way in helping you out. Once again, I can’t speak for Tomi, but at the very least you won’t have a target on your back from the more radical members for the community who may deem you a much more dangerous threat.”

The redhead simply nodded at the question. “Yes, please. If I’m being completely honest, it would probably be best if you just handed the devices you used to communicate with your mother over in their entirety. I can ease into a plan by brining them to the attention of the Chief Deputy first, and then escalating from there to the Sheriff.”

Although she should have expected that the ‘higher ups’ didn’t know about her involvement, it still surprised Dallas just how much Kala was also protecting her. She had found it odd that neither the sheriff, her dad or anyone else from the guild or station had come to find her. “Right…” She didn’t really think much about the rest of the town other than Tomi herself. Dallas had spent most her time between her room and the DJ booth at the club that she didn’t dare interact with anyone else other than the boss and her sister. 

The DJ solemnly nodded as she slip into her room to gather all the copies. The girl remerged with a box in her hands. “This.. um.. this is just a bit of it. I’ve got another box…um.. wait.” She mumbled as she returned back the moment she set the first box down. This time she came back with a box and a laptop on top of it. “This.. This is it.”

It would be a lie to say that Luke hadn’t been expecting the question, but she had already mad up her mind that if she was going to demand transparency from the girl, it was only right that she provide the same. “The first reason, I think you’ll find is the most obvious: I want to protect my family and best way to do that is to have information. Information that, as this current moment, only you can provide,” she stated, her tone even as and matter-of-fact. “However,” she added, tone softening a bit to one of understanding, “I also happen to have some experience of my own in having to deal with the aftermath that comes with being raised by parents with rather questionable morales and ethics, and am no stranger to having to sport cuts and bruises of my own as a result of it. I think conflict can best be resolved when there’s a baseline of mutual understanding to work off of, and I’m pretty sure between me and Keagan, I’m the most likely to afford you that.”

Luke could sense the panic start to creep over the girl once more and she held up a hand. “Make no mistake, Dallas. The actions you’ve admitted to are very much punishable by supernatural law, and the only reason you haven’t been arrested yet is because I’m sure the Sheriff hasn’t been looped in. But there’s another Council meeting this week and I assure you that with everyone present taking into the account that their own families have been put in jeopardy, it won’t take long for her to pay you a visit. The last person to have taken action against the community and be found out, was only spared because of he good they had for the community since and the fact that they have basically become an informant. Since we have no proof you’ve done any of the former, informant it has to be.”

Dallas could understand the meaning behind her actions, but she didn’t know how much help she would be to the other. Her reports were mostly just reporting things to her mom - reports that weren’t read. And her mother didn’t say much about her side of things either. Regardless, Dallas wasn’t going to reject to help. If Luke wanted the reports, she was going to give it all to her. 

The half-demon nodded, knowing that Kala hadn’t mentioned anything to the Sheriff yet. But it really was a matter of time before this blew up in her face even more. “I can give them all to you.. Kala also already has a copy of everything if you think I missed anything.” She explained. The girl had not budged from her spot the entire time. “I.. No one.. really read those reports though - at least Kala didn’t think so.. I don’t know if they’ll help you that much.” Moreover, she herself wasn’t actually working under the Scions, so could she even be considered as an informant? “Do you.. want them now?” Since she had to give her sister everything, the copies were moreorless ready to be given to anyone else who needed them.

“From the look of you, I can see that Skylar made it clear how badly you fucked up in lying to Tomi, and the fact your sister clearly didn’t feel the need to step in should make it crystal clear who was in the wrong on that front,” Luke began, “So I won’t beat a dead horse. Suffice it to say, you got off easy. Skylar was too consumed by anger to work off nothing but instinct, but her skill could’ve made this far worse. Let’s not even mention mine or her mother’s.”

She leaned forward at the questions and said plainly, “I know that despite everything you’ve done, the last thing Tomi would want is to see you hurt. So, to minimize it getting bast a few bruises,” she waved her hand to indicate the girls face, “I’m here to help you get ahead of things. I need a copy of any and all communication that you’ve had with your mother since the day you set foot in this town. I’ll need a recorded statement that details what your purpose in coming here was, what changed, and what you’re willing to do to make things right. Consider this the beginning of your redemption PR campaign. I can’t guarantee my niece will want anything to do with you ever again, but I can at least assure you won’t be hunted down and branded a traitor…unless you’ve actually earned it.”

Dallas just nodded as Luke talked because she really didn’t think there was anything for her to say. It wasn’t like the other was wrong with what she was saying either. Skylar did a number on her, and she knew the girl also had training under her belt. To just get away with a few bruises basically told her that she got off easy. “Right..” 

However, when Luke started to talk about getting statements from her, the half demon was beyond confused. “You’re.. helping me?” But why? She figured that no one in this town was even going to talk to her aside from those she worked with and her sister - but the latter was most likely because they were sisters. “I.. Um.. The copies.. I, wait, why do you.. need a copy of everything? Are you.. giving it to the sheriff?” Keagan was the Chief Deputy after all and Dallas was sure that she was one of the last people who would help her out. 

Luke took the young woman’s release of the door as she backed away as an invitation to come inside, so she did. Closing the door behind her, slowly and deliberately, she turned to face Dallas and simply said, “You know we do.” The feigned ignorance would get her nowhere, and to further prover her point, Luke went ahead and made herself comfortable on the DJ’s couch. “Believe me kid, out of all of the adults in this town that could pay you a visit, I’m one of the ones you should be the least worried about. After all, Tomi and Skylar both belong to the town’s wolf pack and Skylar’s mother is now the Chief Deputy. Your sister may have shown you mercy in not brining up your affiliations to the Council, but I assure your no one else will.” She then held up a hand before adding, “And please, spare me the act of confusion and asking what the Council is, we’re clearly way past that.”

Dallas stood as far as her apartment allowed her to be from Luke. While she knew Luke was human, she also knew that the other was more than capable of handling supernaturals considering that she grew up with a pack of wolves. Moreover, she could also spar with the lot of them so if she had troubles fending off Skylar, Dallas was sure she was going to struggle with this woman too. 

“...What do you want to talk about?” The half demon asked. She had heard through her sister that Sky’s mom was the new Chief Deputy and that fact didn’t sit well with her since she swapped punches with said girl. The list of people who are pissed with her just seem to grow with time. 

It would be a lie if Luke said she didn’t have the immediate compulsion to come to this girl’s house immediately after being looped in by Sky as to what happened. After all, not only had she placed every single one of her loved ones in danger by feeding information about the town to someone who would be all too pleased to pass it on to the Scions, but she also lied and hurt her niece’s best friend who honestly happened to just be her other niece. If she had hesitated, it’s because she knew the there was truth to the saying that cooler heads would prevail, and in the moment she couldn’t guarantee that she wouldn’t have done what Skylar ended up doing anyway.

Speaking of, on top of everything the DJ had done to Tomi, she had also managed to physically hurt Sky. So to say that this meeting had been a long time coming would be an understatement. The trainer had used the excuse of needing to do some grocery shopping to leave the full cabin, and had found her way to Dallas’ place with ease. She knocked on the door, and wasn’t the least bit surprised when it opened and immediately went to close again. She stopped it with one hand, the other kept easily in her pocket as she did her best to seem relaxed. “I see you still haven’t learned to bother with the peephole,” she started, “Not that it would’ve helped much. You and I have a pending conversation young miss Capuno.”

Dallas hadn’t been expecting any company other than her sister so when there was a knock on the door, she didn’t even think it could be anyone else. The mistake she made when she opened that door and even with all her speed, the woman managed to prevent her from closing it. So instead, she just left the door completely and walked backwards into the room, feeling very wary of the other because Luke was definitely here to talk about Tomi.. or Skylar.. Or both. Either way, the half-demon was not looking forward to whatever this was. 

The only thing she could focus on right now was the distance between them because her own bruises from the fight with Skylar hadn’t even faded away yet. She was not planning to add more to that collection. “...Do.. we..?” 

Kala smirked and said, “I don’t know. You’re the twin that was up their ass up until recently, not me.” Of course, the Guild had been keeping track of their movements, but she wasn’t about to admit to that. Not exactly because she didn’t believe in her sister’s change of heart, but because it was very evident that their mother had been manipulating the other since basically birth. The last thing she wanted was information leaked, even if unintentionally.

Reaching out to pat her sister’s knee she stood up and said, “Well, I’m glad we got most of this sorted out. I’d love to stay and chat some more but, it’s my one day off and tomorrow I have to babysit some shifter kid for Leo. So, go get cleaned up. Let’s go eat something.”

Dallas obediently stood up and went to her room to grab what she needed to clean up. Not wanting to make her sister wait, she quickly got everything done and came out not long after. “Thanks..” She said softly, realizing that she never said it and her sister did come pretty quickly after she called her.
