thinking about how horatio threw his entire life away for hamlet. he went to college, he was smart, he was a good student—“a truant disposition, my lord” “i would not hear your enemy say so”. and he left it all behind. for hamlet. and then when hamlet died, he had nothing left to live for except hamlet’s dying wish. hamlet was his north and he left him with a single direction—what will he do when that’s done? the story begins with him and it ends with him. it really was horatio’s tragedy all along
