the daistic church

Several years ago, my grandpa made a comic using the methods he had to do so. Using his camera, scissors and lots of creativity he made an entire comic telling the story of an alien girl that crashes on earth. Usign his kids as actors, he made two issues of this story and published on a newspaper.

Some years ago he asked me to illustrate a book based from this comic. He never saw the final result, since he died before the book could be published.

1. Mini Bio

Mbali is a 25 year old youg woman that owns the Inn and Pub “Cetshwayo”. She lived in Amak, a bordering country to Maiskuur, and lost her mother during the final years of the war.

She and her father Cetshwayo migrated to Maiskuur and started a new life at Viatois with their Inn. It was while working there when she met DImitriy and both became friends.

So I decided to start with this OC Challenge  and I’m starting with the characters from Equinox. Not sure HOW I’m going to do these, but there is going to be at least one per day because woot.

1. Mini Bio

So the first one is Mikaela Takala, Mii for short. She is the protagonist of Equinox alongside Dimitriy. She is a little girl of 12 from Yofen, a city at the north of Maiskuur.

She lived a peaceful life, being super good at school and very helpful at home, where she lives with her mother and foster sister, until she was kidnaped and ended up alone at the city of Viatois.

Before its fouding, Maiskuur was a land ravaged by snowstorms where few were said to survive.

The legend of the kingdom says that one day, a young maiden was sent to die on those lands as punishment for an unknown crime. On her dying moments, however, she was blessed by a vision of god, who then gave her the power to turn the land into a fruitful kingdom.

The maiden’s family name was Maiskuur, and the kindgom that was born on that land was named after her.

Some wips of Equinox that I wont be able to finish until next week! 

First iis the ongoing profile image of Mikaela Takala, one of the protagonists of the story, that finally has a color scheme. At least until I decide to change because she looks so much like a strawberry.

Then there is Maiskuur map. I’m still not sure if I want it to be fully colored or lineart only, so I’m taking the harder route and painting the whole thing while doing a good linework.

Anyways, Dimitriy is 27 while Alvar is 30. Dimitriy doesn’t have a job, he literally does whatever someone needs to get some money into his pocket. This include silly things such as carrying heavy delivery boxes and babysitting (Dimitriy is really good with kids) to actually serious things such as helping the army tracking criminals. Alvar knows his friend situation and is always finding all kinds of jobs for him, something that makes Dimitriy glad since Alvar jobs are the most exciting ones.
