i almost didn’t see this one up in the tree! they look so much smaller when they’re all scrunched up like this

these individuals are nestlings! that’s the stage in between hatchling and fledgling, where they’ve grown some feathers and opened their eyes, but they still not ready to leave the nest and have to rely on mom and dad bringing them food (which i also seen many times)

i saw a bunch of seagulls yesterday, and i’m sure i’ll see many more this week

another bird i’ve never seen before! very exciting

i’ve actually never seen a mockingbird at home, but they seem to be pretty common down here by the gulf

i wanted to share a fact about why plume moth wings are the way that they are, but i’m having trouble actually finding a reason. if anyone knows the purpose of this wing shape, please share!

i haven’t had this id confirmed by the people of inaturalist, so please correct me if i’m wrong! but this moth is so shiny and pretty

these little guys are named for their protruding “nose.” they’re very cute and come in a variety of colors!

this is a species of false widow spider, but don’t let the word widow scare you away! these common house spiders are essentially harmless. they are not very defensive towards humans, and there has only been one known case of human envenomation
