Masquerade. Completed this for a discord challenge. It broke me towards the end so I can see some clear issues with. Too bad I’m gonna close my eyes so I can’t see them.

Anytime I feel like I’m taking art too seriously, I step back and give myself something fun to do. Went Pinterest surfing for references and found this old low quality picture of Captain Maggots from the 00s and decided to make it my own. Taking a break from trying to copy a reference photo exactly OR using them to figure out poses and what not is so relieving. I get burnt out (no pun intended) so easily. Just painting a portrait without being perfectly realistic makes art fun again.

Unfortunately, her most annoying recurring customer shows up at her door after being attacked by a werewolf and they have to work together to kill the one who did it before his first transformation. That means interacting with all the supernatural beings she wanted to avoid and an international organization that wants them under control.

Something I really like doing is using black and white vintage images as reference. It’s allows me to be a little more free with the colors while keeping me inspired by my love of retro art and fashion.

Sketch of another OC of mine. Her name is Jack and she is my favorite of all my OC’s. I thought about doing a full painting but as I tried I realized I had no clue how to approach it.
