As some of you know, I’ve recently contracted with Madokami and have been learning directly from her and Devil Homura about what it truly means to be an astral magical girl. I asked them specifically about Doppels. What they are, how they function, and how magi use them.
And yes: they confirmed that Doppels are absolutely real.
Here’s a bit of what they told me:
🌑 A Doppel is your shadow self
It isn’t a separate monster or something outside of you. A Doppel is the part of your soul that carries your pain, your desire, your trauma, your transformation, your memories, and the darker places you don’t always acknowledge or hide away.
But instead of consuming you like a witch form would, a Doppel is a controlled release of that energy, it is your shadow turned into power. When a magi calls their Doppel, they undergo a temporary ego-death or shedding of limits. Using it means letting go of fear and allowing your deeper self to rise. It’s not destructive - it’s transformative. It’s a rebirth moment where your power evolves.
🌒 Doppels activate when your energy expands beyond your normal limits
Magi call their Doppels in moments where their magic needs to stretch further than their usual form allows. It’s an extension of the self, like projecting your spirit outward.

Clair-senses & Exercises
Clairvoyance: The ability to see the not so ordinary. Your intuition speaks directly to you in the form of sight. Images form in your mind or interpret information through pictures.
Clairaudience: The ability to hear or interpret information from spirits. Clairaudience is a way of receiving intuitive messages without using your physical ears but rather hearing messages within your mind.
Clairsentiency: The ability to sense the presence or absence of spiritual beings and feel energies.
Clairempathy / Psychic Empathy: The ability to feel another’s feelings as their own. This is different from regular empathy, which is the ability to identify with another’s feelings.
Claircognizance: The ability to just know things out of nowhere. It can tie into Precognition.
Precognition: The ability to know something is going to happen before it does, premonitions.
Clairtangency: The ability to assess metaphysical properties through touch.
Clairalience: The ability to perceive metaphysical smells.
Clairgustance: The ability to perceive the metaphysical through taste.
Artistic and Divine Inspiration: The Poets have given many names to the unprompted artistic impulses found in creatives. The Norse concept for this is oðr. The Welsh and Celtic concept for this is Awen. This is the act of receiving metaphysical or divine information through artistic impulses.
Exercises to Improve Your Clairvoyance Skills
Exercise 1
Sit quietly with your eyes open.
Focus on a still object in front of you.
In your mind, take note of the objects and furniture around you.
If you see shadows, sparks, or movement, keep focused on the item in front of you.
Sit for as long as you feel comfortable.
Make notes on what you saw and felt.
Exercise 2
Sit with your eyes closed.
Clear your mind and thoughts.
Once you feel your thoughts leave you after a comfortable amount of time, focus on your eyelids and that black canvas it is.
Imagine that blank canvas and focus your intentions while keeping an open mind.
Allow whatever images that come to mind to play out. Don’t try to make sense of it.
Document findings in a journal.
Exercises to Improve Your Clairaudience Skills
Exercise 1
Go to a place where you are most comfortable.
Close your eyes, relax your body, and let hearing be your dominant sense.
Gently tune in to sounds that you don’t normally focus on.
Really pay attention to the layers of sounds and identify what each one is.
Document your findings in a journal or record yourself.
Exercise 2
Sit with your eyes closed.
Clear your mind and thoughts.
Once you feel your thoughts leave, focus on your eyelids and that black canvas it is.
Focus on the sounds around you and slowly try to tune them out.
Imagine an old radio with a frequency dial. Turn the dial through each station.
With an open mind take notice to any sounds chiming through. It’s okay if you hear nothing. Keep moving through each station. You won’t run out of them.
Put your intentions into each turn of the dial taking note of any sound.
Document your findings in a journal.
Exercises to Improve Your Clairsentiency Skills
Exercise 1
Get more familiar with your energies by touching how your hands, feet, eyes, etcetera feel.
Learn how the environment feels around you rather it be the city or rural areas.
Learn how animals and plants feel from one to the next. Not everything is the same. Become aware of that. Every plant has its own pattern past the base patterns. Every animal has different markings apart from the next. Identify those traits.
Once that is learnt and recognized. Learn to feel the airs around you in different regions if one is able to do so.
Exercise 2
Visit different haunted facilities observing all the key details.
Take note of the atmosphere. How does it feel?
Take note of the emotions you feel during a tour.
Take note of the temperatures surrounding you.
Take note of any odd experiences and the people with you.
Exercise 3
Meditate with a specific spirit.
Take in the surroundings before starting.
Consider your moods beforehand. Noting them down.
Focus on the intentions for communication.
How do you feel during the meditation? What about after?
Did anything in the environment change?
Did temperatures in the environment change?
Did you feel hot or cold?
Did you feel any movements outside yourself?
Document your findings.
Exercise to Improve Your Clairempathy Skills
Ask someone you know to show you a picture of somebody they know very well, but you’ve never met at all.
Look at the picture and feel into it by observing all aspects. Focus on how this person was feeling when the picture was taken.
Ask yourself what kind of person this individual is.
Share your findings with your friend.
Now, ask your friend for feedback. How correct were you? Repeat this exercise as many times as you want with different people. Remember to keep a journal for any findings.
Exercises to Improve Your Claircognizance Skills
Exercise 1
Grab a pen and pull out your notebook. Before you start writing, ask yourself a question. What guidance do I need today? How can I find a resolution with a problem? How can I be helpful today?
Then set a timer for five to twenty minutes and write whatever comes to you. Don’t edit yourself. Express yourself fully and write whatever comes to you.
The more you do this exercise, the easier it will be.
Exercise 2
Meditate before bed falling asleep to a method of relaxation.
Clear your mind during this meditation pushing away any internal thoughts.
Focus your intention on an open mind and dreams.
If a dream begins let it play out.
Upon waking write down your findings. Keep a dream journal taking note of anything that happens later in this world.
Compare and contrast experiences in this world versus your dreams.
Exercise 3
When topics are being discussed among individuals take note of things you know but have not studied or read about or heard about from any other source.
Document any experiences keeping notes on things if any.

A (Short) Guide to Bilocation
Bilocation is the act and process of consciously astral projecting. I personally like to call bilocation “soul-splitting”, but the proper term is the one I will use in this document. Like all astral and spiritual practices, it is important to ward before you attempt Bilocation. During Bilocation, you may encounter spirits of all shapes and sizes, so protection against potentially malicious ones is not a choice. (Well, it is, but you’d be stupid to not want to be safe.)
Bilocation requires visualization, so if you have Aphantasia, unfortunately, you are out of luck.
How to Bilocate
To Bilocate, there are numerous methods. Some involve meditation, others (mostly the “old magick” ways) involve physical torture, and others involve waking yourself up during regular Astral Projection.
My method, however, is much simpler, and lacks the physical torture. I cannot affirm that this will work for everyone, however, for my many students over the years, this seems to work quite well.
First, make sure you can focus. If focus is flickering (ADHD), this can still work, as long as you keep yourself on track after distraction.
Second, you will want to relax and visualise the room around you. Force it to become clearer, until you can move and identify objects with ease. This may tire you out - for those unskilled in visualization, you may need to take breaks or work on that skill before attempting bilocation.
Third, once your visualisation of the room is solid, move your visualisation to the next room, force it to become clear, then move it to the next room. At this point, you may feel like you are actually walking between rooms, picking up different objects, etc. This is good! You want this to continue.
At this stage, you should be fully in meditation, and visualising with ease. You may even feel vibrations around your skin at this point. This is all good. You want to be feeling like the visualisation is actually happening. The hardest part now, is to go outside. Open your door, and walk outside. Do not be afraid if you see entities or spirits walking around. The door is symbolic - it is a starting point, when you step outside, you are fully bilocating now. Yes, it’s that simple. You can walk, you can fly, you can do everything you can while astrally projected, yet you are conscious.
Astral Realms
A place to go, when starting bilocation, is to your personal realm. Everyone has a realm, and there’s multiple types: Open, Closed, Personal, and Internal realms.
Open realms are spaces within the astral plane that anyone and anything can visit. These are, for example, godly realms (realms owned by a god, such as Amaterasu or Nyx), “afterlife” realms (such as hell, valhalla, etc.), and large “world” realms such as Earth’s astral counterpart, mars, and so forth. Fictional worlds and universes are also usually open.
Closed realms are places that you can only visit if you have been invited. These tend to be other people’s realms, closed culture (that you may not be a part of) realms, entity-based realms (such as specific dragon types, kitsune realms, etc) that require being or having a past life as said creature to enter, and so forth. Closed realms are usually heavily protected.
Personal realms are where things get interesting. Every entity, every person, has a realm all to themselves. It is a space where they control everything. You can instantly build a house, you can give yourself a pile of gold, you could give yourself a full gaming pc (although, i don’t know why you’d need it on the astral). These realms are completely customizable to the owner, and each person’s realm is usually shaped by their experiences and likes until they change it themselves.
To access your personal realm, you can walk into your soul, or visualise a door to which only you have the key. One can also have multiple personal realms, it just takes energy to create new ones. Every personal realm is considered “closed”, although your personal realm will need heavy warding to be fully secure.
Internal realms are realms where you may not be able to control everything, yet they are still very much a part of you. Internal realms include, but are not limited to: Higher self’s dwelling, lower self’s dwelling, soul-scapes, life-scapes, and your Past Life Regression “Library”. All of these realms are also closed to outsiders, but do not require heavy warding - as for someone to enter these realms, they would need to possess your soul.
Plane walking
Among the astral realms, the astral is separated into planes. These planes can be labeled as “lowborn” or “highborn” planes, and they follow… “observed” rules, but these rules are not concrete at all.
The “rules” of these planes are simple, and largely based on old christian belief. The higher the plane, the more “holy” the entity, the lower the plane, the more “demonic” the entity. This.. doesn’t work, in reality. There are angelic entities that come from low planes, demonics that come from higher planes, and, there’s more types of entity than just demonic and angelic, but alas.
These rules do hold some truth, as gods and angels do tend to reside higher than “regular” humans, and demonics tend to reside lower. On the “higher” planes, one can find more “valuable” realms, such as the Universal Library(A massive, guarded library). Almost all godly realms are within “higher” planes as well. On the “lower” planes, you can typically find demonic realms, animal, and oftentimes fae-based realms as well.
Walking between these planes is simple. The vibrations one feels when attempting full astral projection (instead of Biloc) are important here. Lowering and increasing vibration and frequency requires some focus. Feel the vibrations and feel them amplifying or cancelling out. You can then use this feeling to push yourself through the planes you wish to travel between.
Some planes don't require lower or increased vibrations, and some realms may require it while the plane does not. Trial and error, with experience will get you farther than this guide will.

MAGICAL ADVICE FOR THE BOOKED & BUSY MAGICAL GIRLS
NOTES 。this is NOT a roleplaying account, nor is this a form of delusion. the owner of this account is a practitioner of witchcraft, and irl magical girls fall under the chaos magic and pop culture magic aspect of witchcraft.
recently, i have been torn between my magical duties and my mundane responsibilities, though i'm sure that i'm not the only one. everyone else has their lives, riddled with each of their own struggles, and sometimes we can get occupied with one aspect of our life that we completely neglect the others.
this comes into play as well for us magical girls who fight off monsters while attempting to balance 'normal' people things, such as our jobs or education. but how can one balance them and find the right time or schedule for each, without the feelings of being overwhelmed?
i relate to this a lot as a magical girl myself, sometimes fighting off entities and handling mundane activities at the same time can be the cause of why we are stressed and drained. in this post, i'll be explaining how this can be overcome!

01 · evaluate your schedule
examine whether or not your schedule is too much for you to bear if you combine magical activities with mundane activities, and think if the time you've allotted for those two aspects of your life are balanced to maintain a good psychological and physiological health.
do you get enough hours of sleep and do you skip your meals in order to attend to your magical duties? do you tend to spend a lot of hours at night participating in your magical girl activities, and do you still find the time to enjoy other things in your life?
this self-evaluation is vital so that you'll be able to figure out what it is that you really need to do, what you actually have to adjust in order to ensure a healthy magical schedule for yourself, as well as to properly care for yourself in times of stress. should there be any adjustments you want to do, base it on your schedule.
02 · time management
now that you have figured out and examined your day-to-day schedule, apply the skill of time management. it doesn't have to be in one go, you can implement it in small amounts per day until it becomes a reasonable and comfortable pace for you to work with. you can lengthen or shorten the amount of time that you dedicate to your duties, this is to make sure that it does not become a taxing task for you.
if you are busy, you can limit your magical girl patrols and the number of concept entities that you wish to take care of and manage. for example, you've only scheduled your magical girl duties for friday, and only do them when it's friday unless it is urgent.
this is to make sure that things don't go out of hand or are too stressful especially when we do lead our own civilian lives as well — highschool students, university students, or part of the working population. do things when you have the time for it and if you are available and capable to do so. you wouldn't want to suddenly receive a business phone call during a fight now, would you?
03 · mini-magical activities
if you cannot find the actual time to spend on things related to being a magical girl especially when you're focused on your other workload and are worried about 'abandoning' your practices, there is an alternative.
you can intertwine the magical and the physical together through little acts, and this can be used as well not only by the busy magical girls but those who struggle from chronic health conditions. by intertwine, i mean that you can allow your magic to.seep through your day-to-day life by creating tiny related acts to it.
you can use your own magical energy in order to boost up your manifesting or to ease up specific difficulties — a problem? pull the magical strings and weave your desired outcome through your magic, visualize it and intend it to be so, and watch your manifestations take effect. for me, this tends to work almost immediately and i've used it for various occasions, i didn't need to perform a ritual nor a spell work because my hand gesture was the only thing i needed.
another suggestion would be to set up magical protective wards or barriers in your space, or places that you feel are in need of magical protection, and this can be done via setting up sigils, energy work, visualization, incantations, and so on. you can also imbue magical energy into your meals or beverages in order to enhance certain effects of it if you wish, or to give yourself a good peaceful sleep.
04 · taking breaks
should there be a time where you think that none of the aforementioned advice would work, then you can simply retreat and take a break, no matter how long it is as long as your energy levels in accomplishing magical tasks are back to normal. there is absolutely no shame in rest because it is a form of productivity wherein you allow your mind and body to regenerate itself.
you can set up a timeframe of until when will your break last — would it be a few days, a few weeks, or a few months? it is definitely okay, take your time, and this is not a race. it's normal to get tired. this is the real world where we, as magical girls, experience real world things too such as fatigue, especially when being a real life magical girl isn't all sparkles and rainbows as other people may think it is.
you can be specific on what type of magical work you want to get a breather from, is it the fighting or all duties altogether? fighting can be tiring especially when injuries and wounds are to be expected, and whenever you get injured, you should always give yourself the time to catch up and heal. being a real life magical girl isn't like the fictional media after all.
if you feel or sense that your duties are pressing doubts and stress onto your mind, you can attempt to step back and distract yourself from it, considering the fact there are numerous facets to being a magical girl; the stark differences of real world traumatizing experiences and lighthearted moments that are just the two sides of the same coin as magical heroes.

regarding some interactions i've been seeing more frequently lately, i decided a general post on etiquette inside the community would be very useful for some newer magical heroes.
a magical girl's main value is to be kind, so i think we could all use some help in making that easier. this post includes (number) general "rules" for magical girl etiquette!
1. you shouldn't ask other magical girls to turn you into one.
this, at its core, is just plain disrespectful. a magical girl's journey is something incredibly personal, and asking people to just "turn you into one" is just as bad as asking people to manifest things for you or anything of the sort. and in all honesty, if we could all just become magical girls by asking a higher up to turn us into one, we would all have full results already.
by relying on someone else to "turn you" into a magical girl, you're not only relying on someone else to do these things for you but you're also placing pressure on said person. do not become dependent on random people on tumblr, or any platform, for that matter, for results— it's just rude and benefits no one.
2. on a similar note... don't go around asking for people to get you free readings or manifest you things!
sorry, i just had to specify this too. please don't do this! you can't just ask people here to do things for you, magical girl communities aren't your personal request blog. if you really need a reading, you can ask people for them if they specify they're doing readings. otherwise it's much easier to do divination yourself without bothering random people.
as for manifestation, this is similar to point 1. this is a personal journey, and you can't just ask people for it because "you can't do it". not only is that not a good mindset to have at all in terms of manifestation, you're relying on other people to get your desires. random people on tumblr can't do these things for you, and even if they can this is just rude to ask to people you don't even know.
3. don't put people down for their achievements.
you struggle with a certain magical activity and feel sad when people manage to do it? that's sad. don't put people down for succeeding. i can't believe i have to say this, honestly. you're allowed to be upset, but you are not allowed to make a scene about it and make people feel bad over... being able to do things.
listen, everyone here is hurting in some way. and honestly i would argue that a lot of people might feel the same when they can't seem to do things other people can. but guess what? these people don't shit on other people for achieving things. you're allowed to have your feelings but you are not allowed to be rude because of them. this will hurt people. this has hurt people. other people have feelings and doing this will make people feel bad about achieving things. you're putting people down for feeling good about themselves.
please just... don't. again, you're valid for feeling these feelings. but you can't act like an asshole because of it. stop making other people feel bad because you do.
4. don't act like your experience is the only valid one.
this goes for both physical and astral mahous— don't assume that all magical girls do things a certain way. astral and physical magical girls are one community, and we should stick together. that's why you can't just assume there are only either physical or astral magical girls. this is misinformation that has been around for ages, and honestly i'd just call it ex animo behavior; also known as, terrible amounts of misinfo server. assuming one or the other is never helping.
if someone asks you how to become a magical girl, without specifying physical or astral, you shouldn't just explain one and act like it's the only way. this is just ignorant. if you don't have experience in one of them you can ask them to specify or explain the one you're familiar with but be clear that this is not the only way to be a magical girl. if you can, you should also educate yourself on both sides of mahouhood, and you should at least try not to spread misinformation. it's the least you can do, in a tiny community that is so subject to this kind of fake information.
5. be kind! stand up against bullies!
don't let fellow magical girls go around bullying people. this sounds very obvious but you'd be surprised at how often this happens, and sometimes completely brushed off. i've had someone play off how they hurt me as a "jupiter retrogade" thing. and i still haven't got a decent apology for any of it! 🎐
but personal experience aside, being a magical girl is all about being kind. you don't need to be all cutesy gentle and love everyone and everything or whatever— just be kind. don't bully people, don't vague about people, don't hurt fellow magical heroes or anyone for that matter.
just as any community, being a magical girl does not exempt anyone of being a bad person or of causing harm. again, as obvious as it sounds, apparently it needs to be said. you have to own up to your mistakes and to the people you might have hurt, that is included in being kind. and an apology isn't just "sorry if what i said came off as immature or mean ahaha!"
and if you see a magical girl being rude or a bully, you should stand up against them and you should call them out on it. no amounts of sweetness or formality or not being good with tone will take away the fact that if you're being a bully, you are being a bully and you're not excluded from fault.
