I'm still working on my control over them but I'll do my best to give my findings on my magic and my personal experiences.

Disclaimer!: I'm a smile cure, so my experiences may not align with a concept like yes pretty cure 5 or tropical-rouge precure. I am perfectly comfortable with polite corrections, input, requests, and anything of the sort. Enter a request in my ask box!

1. MAGIC OBJECTS - SMILE PACTS AND DECORS ˚ও✦
Assuming you've already consumed ANY mahou shoujo media, you'd know that most traditional concepts gain their magic powers through a magic object. (I'll shorten it to MO to be less redundant)
"Spacey, what the heck is a magic object?! I just want to punch stuff!"
Your "MO" is the tool you use to transform and execute powers
This object is typically executed by a catchphrase. You can modify it to your liking. While typically short and simple, it can be as profound or as basic as you want.
In magical girl media, this object is typically a form of make-up or a phone. Depending on your concept, it can be any one of these or something completely different. (Not counting your physical object).
As a smile cure, my pact is my MO! I put in a decor and say 'pretty cure, smile charge!' and begin my transformation sequence. A transformation can be as short or long as you want with whatever music you want (if you choose to have any music at all). My transformation song is 'P3T' by Femtanyl.
Aside from your transformation decor, your smile pact is multifunctional. If you beat an Akanbe and it drops a decor, you'll find that it is a usable object that can be extremely helpful in the future.
Decors can be used by inserting them into the slot in your pact (make sure you're pressing down on the decor to make sure it's in) . It's a little bright and glittery when it's being used, but it comes out pretty quick.
Example: hypothetically, you defeat an Akanbe and it drops a decor in the shape of a band aid. after putting it in your pact, it gives out a first aid kit. It may be able to heal you later, so make sure you have a spot for them!
2. STRENGTH ˚ও✦
It's probably obvious to anybody who's seen any form of precure media that we tend to be SUPER strong.
Throwing around enemies 10 times our size is pretty impossible for even the strongest of mundane human strength.
Approximately, I have gained 9-12x the amount of my mundane strength. I'm not the strongest person on earth, I can hardly do 10 push ups, and I have bad back pain so forget about lifting anything that isn't my partner. But in my cure form I've found that I can throw things around pretty easily.
To utilize our strength, our fighting style is typically hands on. Unlike puellas, we usually are seen kicking and punching things.
In my experience using my strength, I've accidentally sent myself flying a few times!
The most recent way I've trained my strength was when I was in an arena with a few other magis, and one of them summoned a giant ice block. I punched it to see how strong I was and it disappeared completely. A few minutes later we saw it coming down from the sky, I had accidentally punched it so hard it went out of the bounds of the arena! Whoops! (If you're reading this, hey query and heron)
Your strength is not only in your ability to hit, your jumping ability also is under the category of being strong.
I've found that depending on how hard you attempt to jump, we can go as high as a 4 story building or higher.
Again, another experience in the arena, I had attempted to jump up to another magi who was flying on a Trident he uses like a broomstick. As a joke I jumped up to him and I was up there for a good few seconds, going past him and plummeting back down like a ragdoll. (Pft, if you're reading this, Hi Venus). I'm perfectly fine though.
3. SPEED & HIGH ENERGY ˚ও✦
Again, precures are known for being very fast! I’ve noticed my speed has been multiplied by around 6x. We can run to catch up with a car if we try hard enough!
Mundanely, I am a (reluctant) track athlete. I do the 4x100 as first leg, so I’m decently quick. But transformed I find myself running 5x as quickly! I use rollerblades for fun, but I'm pretty quick without them too! I've found myself being fairly clumsy because of it (ask anybody I've spared with).
With the speed, I also have high energy, which makes me a bit more quick to react by default. It's like the speed coil in roblox. Makes you feel like you're running around with rockets on your legs.
It can be a bit shocking because it's almost like being on a permanent sugar rush cranked up to 11.
4. REGENERATION / SELF HEALING ˚ও✦
This part can be a bit disturbing. You've been warned! Please skip if your find yourself uncomfortable.
This power is a little less obvious in magical girl shows, but it is a trait that is possessed in any mainstream concept that requires hands on fighting.
In some cases of this practice being romanticized, it is overlooked that we can and will most likely be severely hurt while fighting.
Akanbes often have extra tricks up their sleeves. If we were normal humans, injuries in our battles would most likely be fatal.
This is where our regeneration comes in! It takes about 3 minutes to a few seconds to heal depending on the wound. If its a scratch, it'll probably not take long. If it's a full wound through the skin, then it'll most likely take a few minutes to repair the damaged muscle tissue.
This also makes us pretty resistant to pain, allowing us to endure anything because of adrenaline and our magic put together.
"Spaceyyyy what if we get an injury that would normally kill us in the physical?!"
Well. That entirely depends on the state of you.
Its incredibly difficult to die as a magical hero. Like, pretty difficult. Like I got my head shot off by my girlfriend's musket and I survived type of hard. (True story)
I've seen magis get Lazer beamed to ashes and still come back astrally. (With the help of someone else but it counts)
I don't fully know the boundaries of astral death when transformed, but I know that you can regenerate through almost anything. So we are sort of indestructible when transformed, for lack of a better term.
5. MAGIC ATTACKS ˚ও✦
Alright, we already went over that our magic comes from our MO, but how are we supposed to use it exactly?
As a smile cure, I use my attacks by charging up my spirit. Do it however you need! Think about a loved one or something important to you. Something you'd fight for. When you're ready, call out your attack name and take the shot. After this, you may feel a bit tired, but I always feel better after having a snack after my fights.
Your smile pact will translate your spirit into magic. So the more determined you are, the stronger the attack.
Now I'll talk about this from another angle. From watching puellas fight witches (I'm around mostly puellas), I've noticed that concepts like Sailor Guardian and Anything under the Precure umbrella are more for purification and not harm. When you pay attention to the way magic is exerted among concepts, you'll find that when Precures use their final magic attacks, the enemies usually fade away from the object they possessed. They're not destroyed, the cure magic simply trumped the original negative energy that was inside the enemy. This is why I use the word purify.
I haven't tested my magic on anything that isn't an akanbe, but as an educated guess I'd say it could wear someone down depending on where it was aimed. (Not counting my true form)
I don't have an ultimate form because I haven't encountered any akanbes with anything other than a red nose, so I don't know the logistics of that yet. If you want a follow up to that later then let me know!
6. PUTTING IT TOGETHER ˚ও✦
After studying all of this, I've come to find that the best way to fight as a precure is hands on and feet off the ground.
Since the enemy is bigger than you, it's better to make sure you're off the ground so you can aim for any weak spots. An Akanbe's weak spot is typically the nose.
I usually go nuts with punching and kicking them. You'll be surprised how far you can send one of those guys flying. It's somehow still satisfying to this day.
When I fight, I make sure that the Akanbe is worn down before I launch the attack. Because its tired enough for it to be more difficult to move out of the way. If I miss I'd have to wait for myself to charge back up again.
Even if I'm rusty with my powers, I hope that everything I've learned can help anybody out that needs it!
Recently, we’ve seen an influx of people claiming to be Sailor Guardians, but all they seem to do is spread negativity!
Everyone should know that there can be more than one group of Sailor Guardians. That is simply the theory of the multiverse. Please don’t go around claiming to be the only ones and fakeclaiming others! It’s so very rude, and the Moon does not approve of this.
On that note, there’s people who have seen our concept and decided it was misinformation. We will have you know that we are the moon reincarnated over and over again, and we have been doing this for multiple lifetimes. Please don’t try and claim us as false when we know much more than you do. This is just basic respect for, let’s say, a teacher!
We are the first ones we’ve seen write an actual document for this concept, which makes us the coiner and creator despite it originating from Sailor Moon. (We do not claim to have written Sailor Moon, moon loves you Takeuchi Naoko!) If you do another ritual or some kind of contract with Queen Serenity, you have an inspired concept, but this is not how to become a Sailor Senshi’s.
I’ll repeat: Sailor Senshi’s do not contract with Queen Serenity!
This is not the requirement people are making it out to be! You do not have to contract with the moon. All you have to do is promise to protect the moon and universe. Of course, you also have to prove yourself worthy of such a title, but for some reason there’s groups of Sailor Guardians claiming that they are the “only ones” and that they have “contracted with Queen Serenity so they must be true”.
I don’t know who you’ve contracted with, but it is not Queen Serenity. The Moon would never accept you going around spreading negativity to your fellow magis.
Please, everyone, just be kind to one another. We’re all magical, let’s exist in the harmony we are denied from the public!
PSA; DEAR IRL MAGIS STOP BUYING THESE SOULGEMS AND RINGS.
These rings (and gem necklaces) are mass produced by many shops on amazon, temu, and aliexpress. They are the exact same product across all these fronts and are cheaply made in the same factory in sweatshops by typically child labour.
They are also again— cheaply made —and not at all durable! They will get lost and break easily, and the amount of magic it takes to transfer a vessel is not worth it.
You also do not need your soul/wish gem or vessel to be exactly like the one in PMMM. However, if you want it to be exact, SUPPORT REAL SHOPS AND OR PEOPLE ON ETSY!

Vetting (otherwise known as 'vet') is a process of confirming who you're speaking to, in this case, deities and magical familiars (specifically Kyubey in this Puella example) Vetting is how we avoid contracting and interacting with tricksters or trickster spirits/entities. These malicious entities obviously, seek to harm you (presumably seeking your soul). To find out if the entity is a trickster we ask clarifying questions, these are questions only they know and can answer fully and truthfully. I reccomend not asking a question that is a open yes/no as there's a 50/50 chance they can lie and get it right. Questions about concepts or basics are good for confirming, for example;
"What is potential?"
A; (something along the lines of)
《 "How you affect others" 》
"What is the astral realm
A; (again, something along the lines of this may not be exactly the answer given)
《 "The nonphysical realm where energies and entities often stay" 》
My conversation awhile back about vetting aswell;
"Some good ones that I use, "Have you ever contracted with someone named Kaname Madoka? (if yes); "what was her original wish?" ("To save a cat named Amy, to save Amy, to save a cat etc,")
Start with something basic like for example a question like "whats the/a/how does __ work?" ^ Something you know the definite answer of.
If they hesitate, fumble, or give a wrong answer it's a trickster
Assuming this is Kyubey, Kyubey will give the answer to you flat and can only lie by omission!!
tip: don't give them an open yes or no, like "Is Madoka a magical girl??" This gives them a 50/50 chance of lying to you"
Why can IRL Magis not fight with daydreaming/maldaptive daydreaming?
Hello I'm making an info log, but i feel that this should be shared because I see a lot of people claiming they can fight through these manners which is not true.
《 Important note on daydreaming 》We cannot fight or do magical girl work through imagination, daydreaming, or maldaptive daydreaming. According to the American Psychology Association,"n. a waking fantasy, or reverie, in which wishes, expectations, and other potentialities are played out in imagination. Part of the stream of thoughts and images that occupy most of a person’s waking hours, daydreams may be unbidden and apparently purposeless or simply fanciful thoughts, whether spontaneous or intentional."( - The definition of 'daydream', circa American Psychology Association.)And to cite the definition of maldaptive daydreaming."Maladaptive daydreaming is a behavior where a person spends an excessive amount of time daydreaming, often becoming immersed in their imagination. This behavior is usually a coping mechanism in people who have mental health conditions like anxiety. For some people, this behavior disrupts work, hobbies or friendships and relationships."(- Cited from the Cleveland Clinic.) Daydreaming is played out at one's will in imagination, daydreaming is nowhere near bilocation or astral projection which are not willed by one's imaginations or otherwise imaginative scenarios and actions. Maldaptive daydreaming is a serious condition in which daydreams plague one's daily life, how they focus, interact, and live in their enviorment, and overall somone's daily life. Suggestion of being able to fight and do magi work via daydreaming and specifically maldaptive daydreaming (again, a serious condition) is not only false in implying that our work is done by imagination and therefore not real, but also a notion of exceptionally gross ignorance for how maldaptive daydreaming affects people who struggle with it.

For anyone who’s contracted under kyubey or madokami (I think that’s her name?), which one would be better? I plan on becoming a puella, but I don’t want to risk a bad contract
but im rly tired of the whole 'Madokami is better then Kyubey' lie and the whole 'why would you contract with kyubey', I've noticed this general idea that Kyubey contracts are bad and cycle magis (particularly beginners) being on a sort of high horse with the stance that they have a safer or better contract than puella contractees. No one is better for who they contract with and no contract is better, both have ups and downs to them but it's literally just about what work tou want to do. This also ties into people flocking to Madokami under the presumption they'll be doing 'less work' and still reap the rewards, which is an absolutely disgusting and selfish mindset to have especially with a generous deity as herself.
Hᥱᥣᥣ᥆ ꧑y ρᥱᥲrᥣ᥉ ! I'm princess Kokomi and in my time of directing beginners in puella magi, I've noticed the lack of regard and information about entropy and energy in general.
So what is entropy?
Entropy is essentially the idea that the universe is slowly ridding itself of resuable energy. The principle where energy output is constantly decreasing, making energy unusable, causing the universe to slowly die out.
Cited from Reddit a better explanation; "That, in a broad sense, is what Entropy is: it's the characterization of energy that has reached its natural "resting state", and therefore is no longer useful to the reaction from which it was released. The consequences, then, are that because ALL reactions, chemical, mechanical, quantum, etc. behave according to this principle, then the universe should eventually reach a state whereupon no usable energy is left. All the stars will burn out, all the black holes will evaporate."
Think of a tree, say the world has 100% energy, it takes 50% energy to create the tree, the tree once formed only returns 25% of the energy when it's burned so we have 75% left. The energy input does not result in a benefical output.
Evergy is not created or destroyed, it simply stops being reusable.
Energy is also in the core of Puella. There's energy in our universe but it's dying (becoming un-reusable) out, energy is also needed for our wishes, but we exchange taking energy from the universe in the form of a wish in order to become magical girls and therefore regenerate that energy by defeating witches and witching our ourselves, hence why incubators seek magical girls. You work as a puella magi to repay the energy of your wish and contribute back to our universe, something like uncontracting, without repaying your energy leaves a gap that other puella and cycle now have to repay themselves (aka increasing the workload and depletion of the universe in arguably, an incredibly selfish manner)
I vaguely mention cycles, but entropy still applies to cycle magis.

If you're more active on the discord side of the community, then you might be aware of the amount of plagiarism going on. A lot of people, including me, have had their concepts or informational posts taken and reposted elsewhere without credits. I feel like we as a community are beginning to lose the plot. Plagiarism is not and never will be okay. You should always, no matter what, ask permission from someone before using their work in any capacity and give proper credit to them afterwards. You are literally taught in school that plagiarism is very serious, and it's for a reason. Plagiarism is literally stealing, and right now people don't seem to be taking this seriously.
Me and many others have had their concepts and information stolen without credit and without permission. It's really frustrating and I cannot reiterate enough that plagiarism is serious. You can literally get kicked out of universities for it. Just because this is in the magic community does not make it any better. Plagiarism is never okay, and if you had your hard work stolen and claimed by someone else you'd be pissed as well. I'm struggling to even write this post properly without coming off as mean, but after having my stuff stolen multiple times and seeing my friends have their stuff stolen it hits a boiling point.
to everyone in the community, no matter your experience level or how long you've been in it, learn to write your own things and information. stealing is lazy and rude, and if you're asked to take it down, listen. don't fight and get snappy, take it down. you don't have the right to keep it up when it isn't your work. do better.
If you're saying slurs that you can't reclaim (let alone calling people those slurs), you support pedophiles and zoophiles (even if "no-contact") or support non-traumagenic systems (ableist to ACTUAL systems), you don't belong in this community.
This, especially because the nagi community is full of kids, if you're pro or non contact, radqueer, or under the proshipping umbrella and you actively engage in a community FULL OF FUCKING CHILDREN you are extremely predatory

I feel like this is really reflective of the perfect victim scenario, a lot of people growing up are told in (for example) anti-bullying lessons that they shouldn't fight back because it's "hard to determime who's in the wrong" (it's usually not, this is an excuse to push blame onto the victim) That to be a true victim of something you have to have been fully the vunerable hurt party that does not defend themself or lash out.
People can't seem to accept flaw within victims and expect them to be 100% non-morally grey, scared frail sweet angels when this isnt always the case especially with trauma.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO CONTRACT

You may have some questions, and I'll answer them! If you're a beginner magi, please read till the end. Otherwise, scroll down for the TLDR version if you'd like.
What is a contract?
A contract can be defined as a sort of "ritual" between you (the magical hero. aka contractee) and whoever you decide to contract with (ex: madokami, kyubey. aka the contracter).
In order for a contract to take place, you give up or offer something in exchange for a wish or anything else that may be applicable.

What is the community getting wrong?
Alright. What was I trying to get at with this post?
Contracts were moreso created for concepts from Madoka Magica, Chainsaw Man, some OG concepts, and whichever others that may require one. This is the part beginners get wrong. They think: "Oh so to become a mahou, I need to contract! Got it!" NO!
I am a Puella Magi, I have a contract with Kyubey, I have a wish because of this contract and I operate according to this contract. But if I was a Precure? I wouldn't need a contract, if I was a Sailor Guardian? I wouldn't need a contract.
That being said;
IF YOU WANT A CONTRACT? YOU GET A CONTRACT.
You don't need a contract at all to be a hero outside of specific concepts, but it can be applied if YOU WANT!
Conclusion
You do NOT need to contract to be a magical hero unless you are pursuing a concept that requires it. Don't let anyone put that sort of information in your mind because it's untrue and you will probably end up with a journey you didn't even plan out beforehand.
Though if you've done enough practising, research and you think you want one regardless of your concept, go ahead, nobody should try and stop you! It's your journey!
TLDR; You don't need a contract. If you want one, get one. But it was specifically designed as a motif for those with concepts like Madoka Magica and others.
