I Just Really Like Mayor Damien

I’ve been using Google docs as my writing software for as long as I’ve been writing fics (13 years, yikes lol) so the formatting tools are a bit of a learning curve for me still. I’ve only written half of one thing in it though, so hopefully writing a whole fic from scratch will help me with it.

Things I like so far, for anyone else wanting to switch from Google docs

They’re committed to being AI free. Excellent.

You can choose pretty color schemes (including one called Kudos that matches AO3’s color palette.) (actually the pretty colors are a problem it’s too fun to switch them around. I use Lilium)

Creating headers creates an outline and you can click the header to navigate to it

The drafts feature makes it easy to keep different versions of your work. I don’t do good enough at editing (write and post immediately club woo) to really use it but I think it’s a great feature

You can also collaboratively work in a document, great for RP or people who co write. I honestly haven’t used this because I don’t RP or co write but it’s good that it’s there

There’s something Mark doesn’t know.
