Actually you know what? This is my blog, youre at MY whims. MY DIVINITY IS PAST INFINI-
Okay you get it. Now listen to me yap about how interesting I find the idea they banned healing as a form of magic in Witch Hat Atalier (as someone just starting the Anime and never read the Manga...)
For those somehow unaware- Witch Hat Atalier is a manga getting it's own Anime adaptation about a girl named Coco living in a world where there's a social gap between witches and humans. When she discovers any old human can be a witch (and trauma including her mom) she becomes an apprentice to a witch named Quifrey on a journey to learn magic and save her mom. Blah blah it's peak.
There's a sequence in episode 2 I believe where Quifrey talks about the types of magic that are considered forbidden- any spell used directly on a person, teliportation without the use of a gateway or doorway, some others I forget. And in the middle of that he says 'healing magic'. I haven't seen anyone talking about it but I think it's interesting.
Yeah, healing magic is magic used on another person- but most of the time people think of healing as positive. Now, I have no clue if this gets explained later in the manga somehow (if it does let me know), but it's an interesting rabbit hole.
There's a lot of ways healing can be used to harm. For example, Yosano from Bungo Stray Dogs. To keep things short, she's a character who works as a nurse for a magic detective agency and has healing powers. She can use this not only to revive the team but also as a form of torture, being able to take someone on the brink of death back to life to hurt them again.
And I feel like that could be applied here too. Any magic that could be used to harm someone and magic used on a person are both criteria healing magic fits in. And you might say 'well not everyone is going to hurt someone when they heal' but you have to remember it's not about the spells but who weilds them and how creative they get. You or me or Coco probably wouldn't dream of using Healing magic like that- but someone out there could and would if allowed to.
Anyways it's an interesting thought process and I wanted to share it because I haven't seen anyone talk about it yet!!
