Nuance is understanding that NATO sucks but Russia is the aggressor. That There are Nazis in Ukraine and some of them are being funded by the United States but Ukraine is being invaded on orders of an ultra-nationalist right wing oligarch. That you can support Ukrainians without joining either imperialist causes by which I mean NATO and Russia while at the same time not equivocating or erasing the fact that Russia is basically pulling a US in trying to occupy Ukraine. Yes, you can point to the several warnings of multiple war experts(and criminals) like Henry Kissinger stating that expanding NATO into the Baltics is only going to agitate Russia decades prior to this but also be cognizant of the fact that Russia is actively invading Ukraine, bombing hospitals, and is preparing to use Sarin gas like they did in Syria. You can point out that US is guilty of the same inhumane war crimes that it’s tisk tisking at Russia without excusing the crimes that Russia is committing against Ukraine. You can say fuck both these sides without trying to pick a side. It’s really a fascinating position to not choose sides and want to help Ukrainians out of the way of missiles while not white washing the idea that the Russian capitalist oligarchy is solely responsible for this war and we shouldn’t exonerate them with haphazard whataboutisms that only serve to make Russia seem sound.
