You guys, whatever your opinion on the nominees and winners, let's agree that we're all glad American Sniper didn't win Best Picture or Actor.

I dedicate this award for my fellow Mexicans who live in Mexico. I pray we can find and build a government we deserve; and I hope Mexican immigrants in this country can be treated with the same dignity as the ones who came before and built this immigrant nation.

When I was 16 I tried to kill myself because I felt weird and I felt different and I felt like I did not belong. And now I’m standing here. So I would like this moment to be for that kid out there who feels like she’s weird or she’s different or she doesn’t fit in anywhere. Yes, you do. I promise you do. Stay weird. Stay different. And then when it’s your turn to stand on this stage please pass the same message to the next person who comes along.

A person who is nice to you, but rude to the waiter, is not a nice person.

If your friend is crying over a break up in the middle of the night, and you have a Psychology final at 6 AM.. it’s okay to choose the test and support her in the morning. If you’ve promised someone that you would see a movie with them but stayed up all night coughing your brains out.. it’s okay to reschedule. You do not need to feel obligated to sacrifice your own self for the sake of someone else all of the time. The only person I was born to nurture is me.
