so here is a not so mindblowing outfit just to get the ball rolling.
i often get really dressed up even if i’m gonna be home all day, but today i wasn’t feeling it. but i can still be presentable and feel like myself even if i don’t feel like getting all fancy.
threads
teenage head t-shirt: i got this from True Value Vintage in Vancouver. $15 knocked down from $30 (sometimes you ask and you receive!)
light wash skinny jeans: XXI Forever in San Francisco for $10 USD (not including the travel costs…). i like XXI forever for stylish, inexpensive clothes, but the sizes are on the small side. are 25-year-olds supposed to go there?
glasses: i got these from clearlycontacts.ca. they’re Love brand, L770 Sand Petal. the frames are $89 before tax and lenses and all that good stuff. these are the first pair of glasses that i’ve ever really loved! super cute.
the moccasins and watch i wear pretty much every day. the moccasins are Laurentian Chief which you can get at shoe repair shops in any Canadian mall. however if you are going to buy moccasins i recommend Manitobah Mukluks — they’re more expensive but more unique and the company is Aboriginal-owned. the watch is a Timex weekender.
(disclaimer: i know very little about makeup and can’t be bothered to do it the “right” way. consider yourself warned.
makeup
face: maybelline dream fresh bb cream in the lightest shade and no foundation/powder because, again, i can’t be bothered. this cream is nice because it magically blends in to my skin tone and evens everything out. this is great news because i have no idea what my skin tone is. it is also SPF 15 so that is nice for us pale mennonite types. i actually put the cream on over a layer of SPF 30 sunscreen because it is really moisturizing (i live in an extremely dry climate) and because there is skin cancer in my family. this is probably why my face is so shiny, but it’s healthy!
eyeshadow: from the NYX natural palette. i chose the peachy/coral shade for no reason whatsoever. this eyeshadow was a gift and was FREE
mascara: i always use maybelline colossal volum’express mascara in glam black because i am too lazy and cheap to try other kinds. that being said if you have light, fine lashes like me, it’s a pretty handy mascara for darkening and lengthening without going crazy.
lips: maybelline superstay lip stain in continuous coral with a little bit of gosh lip marker in berry just on the inside of the lips.
note: i use a lot of maybelline products because i generally like how they perform and they are inexpensive ($12 at most for any given product but it’s always on sale). again i am trying not to spend a lot of money so i don’t really go to MAC or Sephora. that being said maybelline is known to test their products on animals and that is super lame. does anyone have any suggestions for good cruelty-free options?
that’s it! thanks for reading! please tell me your thoughts :)
