okay so i had this meichae angst fic idea and i literally just need to get it out of my head before i explode. it all started when i listened to harry’s cherry and saw everyone saying megan’s australian friend was otis, and then this concept just hit me:
the fic jumps between past and present chapter by chapter, starting in the present day then going back to the past in chapter two.
in the past, yoonchae and megan are in this situationship thing. megan’s completely self-sabotaging the whole dynamic and yoonchae is just such a yearner about it tbh like i imagined this actually beautiful relationship between them until the uncertainty of what they even are starts eating at it, and eventually everything just crumbles during this brutal fight where yoonchae finally asks megan what are they and yeah yk how that goes. all of this inspired by casual btw.
in the present, megan gets into a relationship with otis as a way to try and find the happiness she lost when she lost yoonchae in someone else. yoonchae finds out at coachella and that’s when all these cherry-coded feelings of nostalgia hit, because yoonchae’s hanging out with the friends that megan introduced her to and having to watch her move on while she’s still stuck in the same place waiting for her to come back.

all of this was inspired after listening to absolutely devastating songs like cherry, casual, the 1, the cure, less, evermore (yoonchae) and others for three hours
