Tea Sea

I ran again tonight To see if the highway still felt like the home I haven’t found inside my own skin yet They say i’m scared of closed-in spaces Of crowds, and the unfamiliar Someone who can never tell whether he is running from something Or to it. I walked through downtown at 4:30 a.m. A cemetery of all our memories With each and every headstone Titled with a goodbye and a reminder Of the cities and monuments we created together That, though now abandoned Will stand forever. No matter where I go I hear nostalgia whispering in my ears Promising me the past was better than it was And I keep seeing the ghosts of old faces On new friends In their smiles, their mannerisms Or the way they scream in parking lots at 6 a.m. Maybe I am scared of closed-in spaces Or of my own skin But I can’t run anymore From the parts of me that people have touched Because they are so much a part of me That I am no one without them I can’t run from the past without running from myself

This right here makes me cringe.

Let’s have mercy for first-time murderers! They just got carried away!
