You didn't really intend on being camilo's boyfriend and you didn't intend on being friends either, you didn't want anything to do with him at first and now you feel as though you couldn't live without him, you actually hated camilo when you first saw him but as time went on you actually started to fall in love.

How you two ended up as lovers sounds like it's straight from a romance novel, a classic strangers to friends and friends to lovers.

You sat underneath a tree and you were reading a horror novel, you always did this whenever you didn't have any chores and camilo happened to see you doing this often but it wasn't like he was stalking you, it's just he happened to walk near your tree a lot and he totally wasn't walking near it because he wanted to talk to you but didn't know how to approach you, totally not the reason.

You and camilo have crossed paths before in the town but have never actually spoken to each other but of course you knew camilo as he was apart of the madrigals but you didn't know him personally and you didn't want to, he seemed annoying to you but on camilo's side, it was totally different.

Camilo wanted to talk to you so bad but he didn't know much about you but he knew your name and that's good enough! As we all know, camilo likes to make people smile and it's his goal every day and he has yet to see you smile at all. He sometimes asks his family members have they seen you smile and they answer no so his mission currently is to walk up to you and make you smile no matter how long it takes.

You were just reading your book until you saw a shadow in the shape of a scrawny human covering your book, making you look up to see the afro -latino shape-shifter staring dead at you with a smile on his face, your faces were just centimeters apart making you push his face away with one of your fingers.

You looked at camilo weirdly with an eyebrow raised as he took a seat in front of you "Can I help you?" You asked as you tilted your head and camilo nodded "You can help me by smiling." Camilo said as he scooted next to you to see what you were reading, you looked at him even more weirdly "Um..no, can you go now..?" You asked and camilo shook his head no making you groan "Not until you smile~" Camilo sung as he leaned his head on your shoulder making you sigh.

Camilo thought of a corny joke for a second or some way to make you laugh, he then grinned and shape shifted into you and the eye's were cross-eyed and he had a lopsided mouth then camilo tapped your shoulder making you hum as you turned look at him, camilo excepted you to burst out laughing but you just stared at him with a un-amused look.

You sighed and turned back to your book, camilo was a bit confused as people usually at least smiled when he did that but he usually did it to children under the age of nine so I guess it wasn't gonna work on someone that's his age, guess he'd just have to find another way.

Days went on and camilo hadn't gotten you to smile nor laugh yet, you thought that camilo was annoying and you told him to leave you alone but he didn't, though you didn't do anything else other than telling him to leave you alone as you kinda enjoyed his company but you would never admit that.

Camilo leaned on your shoulder as he munched on an apple, you two were leaning against a tree and were reading niebla together "¿Y qué es amor? ¿Quién definió el amor? Amor definido deja de serlo..." Camilo said reading one of the lines from the page that you two were currently on.

You looked at camilo with a loving look in your eyes, you loved camilo but you wouldn't admit it, not even to yourself "What?" Camilo asked as he noticed that you were staring at him while you were still caught up in your though "Nothing, you're just cute.." You mumbled making both of your eyes widen.

You snapped out your thoughts and immediately became flustered making you drop the book on the soft green grass "Aww! You think I'm cute!" Camilo said smiling as he hugged you making you two fall on the grass, you two rolled around in the grass making you two laugh and smile "It slipped out I swear!" You said laughing as camilo started tickling you as he sat up then camilo stopped as he realized that you were laughing and smiling then he grinned wider "You're smiling!" Camilo yelled as he cupped his cheeks.

You then realized that you were laughing and smiling "I made you smile~" Camilo teased as he stood up and helped you stand up "Yeah you did..." You said as you chuckled a bit and you looked down at your hands and saw that you were still holding hands with camilo from when he helped you up and you smiled softly.

You didn't know why you just randomly thought about how you and camilo met and became lovers but maybe it was because you couldn't sleep and camilo was just cuddling you while being fast asleep.

You were having another sleepover with camilo, camilo liked when you were over at casita and he liked it better when you stayed the night because he could use you as a teddy bear as he slept soundly and you didn't have a problem with it but there was one problem, camilo was a very heavy sleeper and he was a wild sleeper so you couldn't sleep at all because camilo would be clinging onto you so hard that he would almost crush your ribcage or he would just have half his body on your body and the other half on the floor.

It feels like overnight on archive on our own alone there’s just been a massive boom of madrigalcest fics overnight and a server I’m in had a run in with someone who ships 2 minors+cousins from the movie (one of which is FIVE FUCKING YEARS OLD) and I’m honestly shocked there’s not enough public pushback. Plus the amount of Bruno fics in this category… my god way to ruin a comfort character.

As someone who has known people/are friends with people who have been victims of this sort of thing, (as well as being a person with common sense) I want to make it clear that my page doesn’t welcome proshippers or anyone who advocates for this sort of thing. I believe this is disgusting, and while I don’t condone death threats, doxxing, any harassment like that, I think there should still pushback to say “hey this is messed up and shouldn’t be normalized.”

Under the cut I’ll go more in depth with my feelings on this topic, so be warned.

No, proshippers, people aren’t mad at you bc they’re mean and don’t understand fiction is fiction: people are upset with this because it’s objectively and morally disgusting and wrong. And I don’t understand why this has to be explained.

Children CANNOT consent. A fully grown adult CANNOT and SHOULD NOT be in a relationship, sexual, romantic, otherwise, with someone who is underage, since their brains are still developing. Don’t excuse these types of dynamics because teens and hormone imbalances. It makes you look like a creep.

Incest is inherently gross and reprehensible and traumatic for the victims involved. And it is wrong for adults as well, who have grown up under the same roof, same parents, with the same siblings, etc etc. I won’t go into detail but if you disagree with this, go get your head straight.

And I don’t care about the “fiction is just fiction” argument because fiction DOES affect reality. That’s how it’s been throughout the course of history. You can look at the shark hunting skyrocketing after Jaws, and you can look at Yellow Peril Propaganda pieces that paint Chinese immigrants as sleazy monsters, trans people being depicted as inherently disgusting and predatory, and beyond. These pieces of fiction have had very real effects on our world. And the normalization and romanticization of pedophilia and incest in online spaces is especially dangerous. Especially if it’s for a DISNEY MOVIE, where the target audience are CHILDREN.

Showing that “oh hey these disgusting things are acceptable” fucks people up. It fucks up the victims who have experiences this first hand, it fucks up people who just want to go about their day, and it fucks up potential victims of this sort of thing because it’s being normalized and encouraged by these people.

And in the cases of people who engage in proshipping having been victims of this type of abuse as well and are pushing out this content to cope: 1. That should never have happened to you or anyone. It’s traumatic, it’s disgusting, and should be treated as such. And 2. Just because it helps you doesnt mean other people who have gone through similar trauma want to see it out of nowhere. And see it being paraded as normal or acceptable.

Also don’t use the original influence the movie Encanto is from to justify it. Encanto is very very lightly influenced by the book 100 years of solitude, and the only similarity they share is the element of building an isolated oasis in the midst of major conflict and has underpinnings of generational trauma. That’s pretty much it. The original book has a running theme of violence, incest and sexuality. (That being said, my disclaimer here would be that I’m not an expert on the book. In fact, I’ve never read it. But a quick look on Google into its themes can tell me yeah inc/st is very much framed as a bad thing here.) The directors have taken MANY liberties for obvious reasons, and Encanto is just its own thing in its own right. Don’t say because it was in the original book that makes it okay because even within the book, that’s framed as a monstrous act with a whole host of social and physical consequences.

I don’t know what else to say.

Fix your head. Fiction affects reality. Don’t you dare trivialize the trauma of people who faced these disgusting acts first hand. There is a reason why people don’t like you.

That being said, don’t send death threats or dox people. That’s just not cool. In a perfect world, this wouldn’t be the case, but Proshippers need to know more on WHY they are wrong and reprehensible instead of just falling back on “antis are mean”

And while I’m at it, proshippers from other fandoms I’m in (Assassin’s Creed, Resident Evil Village): if you ship incest (blood related or otherwise, ie Connhayth or any of the lords together), my page isn’t for you guys either.
