Fishing for fish and surfing for waves. Life in SoCal. I decided to do something I've never done before and hop onto a jetty about a mile north of the Newport Beach Pier where I discovered a peaceful and yet very active scene. Hope you enjoy. The history of the jetties is a long and interesting one. Thanks to the jetties, boats and harbor crafts can sail freely and SAFELY back and forth between the peninsula bay, surfers can catch centralized waves, fisherman can fish, and dredging is minimized. A lot of lobbying, fundraising, advocacy, and finally a bond measure made these jetties possible. And between 1934-1936, eight jetties were built by the Army Corps of Engineers, opening up many opportunities for the fun and business we get to experience today. . . . #ilovenewportbeach #jetty #jettyfishing #explorelocal #newportbeachcalifornia #surfing #surfphotography #traveller #socal #panasoniclumixg85 #7artisans25mm (at Newport Beach, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/COwRjfspMfa/?igshid=24c1tu127zn
