I just couldnât get this post by @k-vichan out of my head and it was driving me nuts so this happened.
âDean, I want you to understand that this Nephilim business is urgent and an all hands on deck situation,â Cas says. âThe angels approached me for help and I needed to do something.â
Dean stares resolutely at his desk. âYou couldâve stayed with us and helped us if you wanted to so badly.â
âThe angels are my family and I-â
âThe angels are your family?â Dean asks, incredulous, finally turning to look at Cas. âWeâme and Samâare your family.â
âBut you wereââ Cas cuts himself off, glaring at Deanâs wall in frustration.Â
âWhat?â Dean stands, stepping into Casâ personal space. âWhat, huh?â
âYou said I was your brother.â Cas looks Dean in the eye like heâs challenging him. âYou were lying.â
âNo,â Dean shakes his head. âI definitely wasnât.â
âIâm an angel,â Cas grits out. âI can sense when someoneâs lying.â
Dean pauses in contemplation. He remembers the conversation in his baby, of course, and he has a sneaky suspicion that he knows what Cas is getting at.Â
âYouâre our family,â he says slowly. âAm I lying?â
Cas is silent for a beat. âNo.â
âSam and I, we want you to stay with us, here. Am I lying?â
âYouâre like our brother,â Dean says, cataloging every shift on Casâ face.
Cas narrows his eyes at him, and jackpot. Dean was right.
Dean swallows hard, hesitating for only a moment.
âI love you,â his voice comes out soft, almost a whisper. âAm I lying?âÂ
âIâ no.â Cas is visibly shocked. âI donât understand.â
âIâm in love with you,â Dean rephrases, letting the breath heâd been holding in out.Â
âWhy didnât you tell me?â Cas asks, face twisted in confusion.
Dean laughs bitterly. âWhy? Because you keep leaving, thatâs fucking why.â
âI thoughtââ Cas looks dazed. âI thought you didnât want me here. I thought you were lying.â
âWell, clearly you were wrong, dumbass,â Dean grumbles.Â
âYou were lying,â Cas retorts. âDumbass.â
âDonât âdumbassâ me,â Dean sputters. âJust, câmere.â
Cas takes a step forward and Dean raises a hand, brushes his cheek.
âOf course,â Cas mutters against Deanâs lips.
