My First Day at CVAP: From “I Want to Hide” to “Okay… Maybe I Can Do This”
So… I finally did it. I signed up for CVAP.
And honestly? As someone who’s naturally introverted and shy, this was already a huge step outside my comfort zone. This was my first time really putting myself out there and saying, “Okay, maybe it’s time to stop just dreaming about voice acting and actually start doing something about it.”
But of course, my first thought was…
“Wait… there’s going to be a lot of interaction, right?”
And yes. Yes, there was.
This wasn’t your typical college class where you just sit quietly, take notes, and pretend you understand everything while hoping the professor doesn’t call your name. This was a whole different experience. We weren’t just learning. We were participating, sharing, and actually using our voices.
And surprisingly, the first half went really well.
Actually, it was more than “okay.” It was refreshing.
Sir Navi didn’t just teach us the basic principles of becoming a voice artist. He also shared stories and lessons that really stuck with me. Hearing him talk about his journey made me realize that becoming a voice artist isn’t just about having a nice voice. It’s also about confidence, perseverance, and believing that your voice has value.
And honestly, I needed to hear that.
It reminded me that maybe I need to be a little kinder to myself and a little more confident in what I can bring to the table.
Then came the second half…
Oh boy.
This was where my introverted self started screaming internally.
We had an activity where we needed to introduce ourselves creatively. My BR groupmate suggested that we do the TikTok trend where you say one line four times, but with four different deliveries.
And somehow… I agreed.
I still don’t know if that was bravery or a temporary loss of judgment.
So there I was, doing four different versions of myself: my normal voice, an old lady voice, Paimon, and Pikachu.
Looking back at the video now, I realized…
Wow. I was REALLY trying to speedrun that introduction.
Like, “Hello everyone, here are my voices, goodbye, thank you, I have escaped.”
But honestly? That was exactly how I felt at that moment. I just wanted to survive and get through it.
Although now, watching my BR mates’ performances, I kind of regret not taking my time more. They delivered their lines so confidently and smoothly. No hesitation, no rushing, just pure commitment.
They were so cool!
And that honestly motivated me. Next time, I want to challenge myself to slow down, enjoy the moment, and not let my shyness hold me back. I’ll do my best to keep up!
Later on, we had a discussion with Sir Ron and Ms. Dine about multimedia production, and suddenly…
It felt like I was back in college again.
Since I studied Communication, a lot of the topics felt familiar. But instead of seeing it as just a refresher, I want to see it as a second chance.
Because looking back at my college years, I know there were times when I wasn’t able to give my best. I was struggling with personal battles back then, and I know I had so much more potential that I wasn’t able to show.
So being here now feels like an opportunity.
A chance to learn again. A chance to grow. A chance to finally see what I can achieve when I actually believe in myself.
My first day at CVAP was scary, awkward, and honestly a little chaotic…
But it was also exciting.
And if this is just Day 1, I’m already curious about the kind of voice artist I’ll become by the end of this journey.
So here’s to stepping out of my comfort zone, one voice, one character, and one brave little introduction at a time.
