Summary: Virgil comes to understand that everything he has is based on a lie. Virgil angst/hurt/comfort. Platonic LAMP/CALM. See warnings.

Warnings: Deceit and (a lot of) gaslighting, panic attack, angst, self-doubt, self-deprecation, crying, spoilers for “Can LYING be Good?”, arguing, it’s… real heavy on the angst and I super don’t want to trigger anyone…. let me know if I forgot anything

A/N: HEAVILY INSPIRED by “Words Fail” from the Dear Evan Hansen Soundtrack (a small splash of “You Will Be Found” kind of at the end?). DEH just makes me think of the Sides in general, but this song for Virgil especially. Edited only by myself so all mistakes are mine. First time writing Virgil (as a focus, at least). Hope it’s okay!

“You.” Virgil’s eyes darken at the figure that appears behind him in the mirror. He leans against the door way as Virgil finishes applying his eyeshadow. “Get out. Don’t you have some dishes to clean?”

“Very original.” He looks unimpressed. “It’s your fault, you know.”

Virgil rolls his eyes. “No, it isn’t.”

“You said it yourself, Virge,” he says. He casually inspects the fingers of his yellow gloved hand.  “You always aim to protect. So where were you to protect him from me?”

Virgil’s jaw snaps shut. His hand starts shaking and he tightens his grip on the eyeliner almost hard enough to snap it in half. “Get out.”

“Oh, get over yourself,” he hisses back. “You act like you’re so much better than me. But you lie too, Virgil. You lie to all of them, all the time.”

“No, I don’t.”

“Oh, you don’t?” He cocks an eyebrow. “So you’ve told them, then? Who you used to be? Who you truly are?”

Virgil shakes his head. He looks away from his reflection. “I don’t know what you’re talking about—“

“That you’re a Dark Side, Virgil.” His yellow eye glints in the shadow. “Or have you been playing pretend for so long that you’ve forgotten?”

this hits so much harsher after the events of SVS and DWIT!

like how Janus kept insisting that Virgil was just as much of a liar as him for hiding his “dark side” past, and now that he has canonically revealed it to Thomas

Logan Sanders reminds me of a teacher I had who, ironically for Logan, taught drama. Now I can't help but think that he would do that thing my teacher did where when I, having just seen my friend pretend she had pulled the Meant-to-be-yours stunt for a play rehearsal, was having and actual PANIC ATTACK on stage, the teacher yelled at me because 'Heather doesn't panic when she sees that!! You're lucky I need you onstage for ensemble!! Even if she did, that doesn't look realistic. She said that. About my actual panic attack. That sounds like a rant, um- I feel like if Logan wasn't all anti-theatre and that stuff, he would do that- So yeah... Sorry -📱anon

There was a post that called this comic out for 1) not being tagged properly 2) ignoring the good stuff that Logan did in this video.

The first point is on me. I wanted to apologize to the OP of the other post, but I think they have blocked me (and that’s completely fair, I do post a lot of Logan criticism and negativity, so if you like Logan, this blog probably isn’t for you, lol). For that reason, they likely won’t see this. The reason I usually don’t use the regular tags (”unsympathetic Logan”, “Logan critical”, etc.) is to distinguish between Logan from Sanders Sides and Logan from other fandoms. So it’s a way to keep track of my own tags. 

However, after this post got reblogged by bigger blogs, more people would see it. Therefore, it now makes sense to use the proper tags that people will usually block. 

As for the second point: I will not deny that Logan did more than insult the others. I will not deny that he was the only one who noticed Virgil’s distress (which is actually impressive, given that he usually sucks at feelings and has no social skills). 

He was literally being annoying idk what he was expecting from narrating an argument
