Audacity has been around for 25 years and over that time accrued a lot of technical and design debt. The team in charge of Audacity is working on rebuilding the ship as it sails. They are building something more modern, more performant, more useful, more flexible, better looking, and more intuitive. It will be out sometime next year.

I appreciate the introspection in this. I really don’t see fault in it. I don’t think GenAI will ever rise to the promises it makes. It will always be an utter waste in every way.

Bhutan is a kingdom whose government is constitutionally focused on making people happy. Rather than measuring GDP they index happiness. They’ve been relatively closed off to the world, but they’re opening up as a way to solve their problems, then do that for everyone. This is so inspiring.

This is my favorite podcast. It's about the internet, culture, and technology. Their show is twice a week and I love it.
