would it be stupid of me to tell my boss I'm on the autism spectrum? I've heard that it's a bad idea to tell bosses unless you are asking for specific accomodations, which idk if I do. In general I just would like to give him an explanation as to why I have trouble interacting with people and come off as stupid sometimes. I'm really trying my best to be good at my job, but if I'm not given clear instructions I get confused.

I also know that a common theme with stupid or incompetent people is needing to be told to do something in order to do it, so I don't know if my autism symptoms make me inherently stupid or bad at my job, or if there is a difference. I just want to let him know there is a reason why I get confused easily and that I'm not entirely stupid, but at the same time I don't know if the latter is even true.

i hate being fundamentally different from anyone else because I spend so much time and effort and energy trying to blend in with everyone else when I'm at work or other environments, but still everyone can always tell that there's something wrong with me and I am missing core experiences and traits that would otherwise make me a normal person
