firstly, his cheeks are now as red as his hair.   it's truly a feat.   as is the embarrassed scowl. secondly, her infatuation with him makes him cringe, on so many levels, pls do not remind him of it ...

“My my... Did you go to the beach without me? Your face looks ... sunburned. You really should consider investing in a decent parasol.”

Minette shakes her head at that - He didn’t need to apologize , like she’d said she knew it sounded funny so she couldn’t blame him. Besides , she could have just . . Not done it. So , ultimately it was her own fault.

She jolts at the touch , but relents and allows her hands to fall back down to her sides. Ohh . . He didn’t have to try and make her feel better , really.

“ I - I’ve been . . Practicing. Usually I can’t help when it happens but , I noticed that when I do it the seelie will react sometimes. So , I’ve been trying to do make it sound more like one , just to see what would happen. ” This was terribly embarrassing. Why was she even telling him all this ? She could have completely played it off and saved herself the shame !

His hands return to his own personal space, held up defensively. No more touching. 

 “Communicating with seelie... Fancy that.”

Probably for the best if he diverts attention from the ‘why’ and ‘how’ Minette came upon this unique talent. Lord only knows how his reputation might continue to suffer if he’s tempted to tease the poor dear any further.

      “Taste is a choice but some people just don’t got any. A cryin’ shame really.”

He’s absolutely doing his best Donna impression. He’s not jealous at all. 

as uninterested as he was at first in this whole joint training exercise–how he’d much rather have been deployed in a place like fontaine or natlan to stir up drama in–it appeared that the silver lining finally presented itself to him. as far as tartaglia was concerned, the vast majority of the knights of favonius were mediocre in combat at best. he’d never seen kaeya in combat before, but just the air of confidence he carried with him was already promising. 

honestly, he reminded him a tad bit of himself. this really was going to be fun. 

the stakes kaeya offered caught him by surprise, though. he wanted him to buy him a drink at some bar? he’d heard that the knights had fallen a bit on harsher times recently, but really? that bad? despite his surprise he still stifled an amused chuckle, nodding in his assent. 

“very well. i’ll cover the entire tab for you and all of your men this evening,” he spoke with an eager grin painted across his features, arrogant in his promise because he simply was that confident and certain that he’d have the man before him pinned to the floor with one of his blades at his throat in no time at all. it was part of the mind game, too, to set the stakes even higher and mess with his head a little bit–to have him second guessing himself. 

“if i win, i want you to have the knights stop sending spies to snoop around at the goth grand hotel. simple enough, is it not?” he stepped back a bit, and ordered other members of the fatui to make room but watch on. he beckoned kaeya with his sword, daring him to come closer and initiate their duel. 

Spies? Sent from the Knights themselves? My! That’s awfully rich to hear ( and from the mouth of a Harbinger, no less! ) once Kaeya considers just how long outside influences have been trying to tear their wind-blessed city apart from within.

After all, the likes of Schubert Lawrence did not get ideas of betrayal all on his lonesome, did he?

But it is neither the time nor the place to roll out the laundry list of evidence that they’ve compiled thus far. A day will come when justice can truly be served; the Cavalry Captain is not as impatient nor as impulsive as his dear brother in his own personal quest to punish those responsible for all of the wrongs done to their homeland.

If he must play along with their games and bide his time until then, so be it.

"Oh, is that all?”

The glint in his eyes is playful as his own sword is drawn with a flourish, with nary a word of confirmation or denial regarding the accusation. To discuss matters of so-called diplomacy with a captive audience would be nothing short of a gigantic faux pas.

Kaeya, himself, makes no order to the Knights to observe. One way or the other, the ensuing commotion will grab their attention -- or serve as a reminder to better mind their surroundings at all times.

As his limber frame suggests, he’s light and quick-footed as he dashes forth, making the conscious decision to go all-in on his aggression and speed. His blade is flung forth as he makes his approach, the cryo vision on his hip shimmering with elemental energy as he sends a flurry of ice shards ahead to obfuscate the swipes of his sword that will come to follow.

Ah - He’s laughing at her ! How rude ! But more so . . How mortifying . .

A desperate whine rings from her throat , hands rising to hide her face. “ P - Please don’t laugh Captain , I know it sounds silly . . ” Normally , noises like that were something she couldn’t control. But what she didn’t like to admit was that recently she had been trying to use them to mimic seelie’s , thinking : Maybe she could communicate with them somehow.

“My apologies, that was very rude. I was just, ah... So taken aback?”

Oh, how poor Crepus would roll in his grave if he knew one of his sons had stooped to such churlish behaviour. A Knight should know far better than to laugh at a lady, his own hands moving to pry her own away from her face, expression pleading.
