Crown princess Freya

“I promise you on Novalie’s life that I’m happy. Now let’s find a ring.” He insisted, though Riley did roll his eyes at the twirl Freya did, his lips curling up at the sight of his twin so utterly happy. “Did you have any ideas?”

“And I am happy. Though you’re clearly outshining me today.” He laughed, his arm going around Freya’s waist before he started to walk them towards the front doors of the palace. “Let’s just hope that she doesn’t throw a tantrum halfway down the aisle. Otherwise I’ll be giving you away while holding her.”

“As long as you promise me that you’re happy I will let it go for now but only because I want to focus on Addy right now and finding the perfect ring,” she admitted unable to help herself as she twirled around in happiness. “If she does throw a tantrum I will happily let her also give me away too.”

“Same meaning, different translation.” She smiled, following Freya’s pull blindly. Adaline listened to Freya’s fears but even they couldn’t pull the smile from her face. “They won’t change their minds. I won’t let them. But let’s not rush this. I still want a dream wedding.”

“Have you met my parents?” Freya asked her quietly as she turned to look back at her but even then she couldn’t help her happiness, “I’m going to make sure that you get your dream wedding. You’re not allowed to settle in the slightest with me.  I’m always going to put you first and make sure your future is the happiest.”

“beautiful day outside indeed.” oscar placed himself beside his eldest sibling, smile coming across his face when he looked in her direction. “what has you so chirpy? the sound of wedding bells? or my presence?” 

Freya knew her face lit up even more as she moved to hug her youngest brother tightly in excitement, “You’re here now!,” she exclaimed unable to hide her reaction to seeing him, “It was because of my wedding announcement but having you here? That makes it so much better. Os!”

Adaline could understand Freya’s fear, her change in fiancé was sudden compared to Adaline who had been stuck in limbo waiting for a partner. She didn’t share the same fear as Freya, but that didn’t make the woman’s feelings any less valid. “They won’t pull out.” She told her softly, lifting her hands to hold Freya’s face with a smile. 

“I’m American. Do you know how stupid it would be to anger me or my family? Let’s face it. You’re stuck with me forever.”

“I’m not stuck with you. I want to be with you for the rest of eternity,” She pulled back pouting as she moved to pull her with her wanting to be out of the hallway so that she could privately enjoy the moment with her fiance. “That doesn’t change the fact that I’m going to want to marry you the first moment that I get. That way they really cannot change their minds on me.”

“Don’t worry about that for now.” He meant his words. One day he would tell her the price he paid for her happiness, but for now, her happiness was the only thing that mattered. At her words he chuckled and nodded, glancing down the hallway. “Novalie is in daycare at the moment so I have the rest of the day to help you pick out the perfect ring.”

“I have to worry about your happiness every second of every day, Riles,” She pointed out draping herself over her brother knowing that nothing would ever compare to what he did for her. “Lunch is on me and maybe a cute locket for Novalie after all I have to ask her to be my flower girl.”

Mine.

That one word started the tears once more, sliding down her cheeks and crashing into Freya’s hands on her cheeks. There was no way this was real. But it felt real. Everything felt real. So it had to be.

“I never want to let you go again.” Adaline confessed, letting her head drop to Freya’s shoulder, nuzzling her face into the woman’s neck. Screw anyone that walked by. 

“I’m going to be your wife.”

“No crying, my love,” Freya whispered as she rubbed her back tenderly and held on to her. She knew though that it wasn’t sad tears they were both over joyed and had a lot going on. She still hated the idea of her crying though. 

“Do you think we could get away with eloping? At least if we’re officially married our parents can’t change their minds,” she pointed out as she pulled back slightly looking her in the face with so much relief. “And I’m going to be your wife.”

He embraced Freya as hard as she was embracing him. Riley knew that Freya probably already had suspicions that he was involved in her sudden change of engagement, so he didn’t see a point in trying to hide it. “You’re welcome.” He whispered in her ear, sighing happily as he tightened his grip on her. 

“Looks like we have to go engagement ring shopping.”

“You know I’m going to have to make it up to you somehow,” she had no idea what her twin had given up to give her the life she wanted so desperately but she was willing to bet that it wasn’t anything small. Not with their parents. Which meant as much as he hated it she was going to have to poke her way through his life.

“Are you willing to do that with me?” She asked him curiously.

Adaline couldn’t help herself, when Freya’s lips touched hers she pulled away, eyes wide and afraid that someone had seen them. It had been too long of them hiding their feelings for each other that it didn’t feel real that they could be openly affectionate. 

But they could. 

“I love you too.” She whispered before she pressed her lips against Freya’s again, pressing her body as tightly against the princess’s as she could.

Freya’s heart stopped in her chest when Adaline pulled away from her but the fear was quickly put to rest as she reached up cupping cheeks as she pulled away in order to break the smile while she smiled happily. She knew she had to look crazy to anyone else but she didn’t care.

“You’re mine. You’re officially mine and I still can’t believe it,” she admitted shifting to run her hand through Addy’s hair. She was still waiting for someone to wake her up.

max looked across to the other at the mention of the weather. the smile that could be seen on her face was mimicked by the prince. “it is quite beautiful. this time of year is often underrated compared to the rest… particularly when in greece.” he replied, gaze moving to the view that was before them. “is that the only reason you’re smiling?”

“Probably not,” she admitted knowing that surely a blush was finding it’s way over her cheeks. “But trust me you don’t want to open that can of worms, dear. It’ll be a huge mess and I don’t want anyone else to deal with it. It’s not fair to anyone else because it’s a huge emotional mess so we can focus on the beautiful view instead.”

Had Riley sacrificed some of his own pride and possibly sold away more years of his life to his parents than he had wanted to? Yes. Was it worth seeing the smile on his sister’s face? Also yes. 

“It is. Quite a lovely day.”

“Have you heard the great news yet?” She asked him curiously trying her best to hide her smile from him even momentarily but it wasn’t possible. She couldn’t help herself as she finally reached out to hug her brother. She had no idea what he did but she knew that he was involved.

She had cried, a lot, upon receiving the phone call from her parents, informing her that their current plans for her engagement had been tossed aside after a lengthy discussion with the King and Queen of Sweden. The moment her parents ended the phone call, she moved as fast she could, searching the palace for Freya until she found her. 

Within two seconds her arms were around the woman and she was crying again, pressing her face against Freya’s neck, her voice caked in happiness. “Yes. Yes it is.”

Freya hadn’t realized who the flurry of hair was until the familiar feeling of Adaline’s arms were around her as she quickly returned the embrace as tightly as she could manage. “I love you, Addy,” she told her quickly feeling the relief melt off of her as she was allowed to actually feel what she was and enjoy the moment as much as possible.

She didn’t hesitate for a moment when she pulled back in order to press a quick kiss against her lips as she smiled. She didn’t have to hide anymore and she could openly love Addy as much as she wanted.

As soon as the head touches her shoulder Elvira reaches over to drape her arm across Freya’s lap. “I’ve honestly expected them to entirely forget my presence as usual, but it would seem for once they’ve remembered that they have children other than the eldest and the youngest.” Elvira wasn’t the closest with her family by any means, just Juliet–always Juliet. So when she too was shipped off it was a wonder she was remembered at all. Maybe that was why she clinged so tightly to Riley’s family, people who really showed love for one another.

“Oh–I…” She’d built herself up all morning for this conversation, for admitting her feelings in words to someone who would listen, but now that she was here words failed her. “I need advice.” Maybe if she could reroute it around his name she could still get the help she needed, maybe Freya wouldn’t notice. “I’m obviously at some point going to be married off to someone, but my heart is elsewhere. I don’t know what to do because I don’t think the person realizes how much I love them.”

Fury didn’t even begin to describe how Freya felt when it came to how Elvira was treated, but she tended to keep most of it contained except when she would tighten her hold on her slightly as she sighed. “I’ll find you a good match happily but I will have to admit that I’d be biased in that hunt and would want you to be as close to me as humanly possible once you’re married,” She knew that deep down the Spanish parents had to love their children it was just that they had a strange way of showing it to each of them. Meanwhile Freya threw herself so entirely into everyone around her.

Freya knew deep down that her brother and El had feelings for her, or perhaps that was her own wishful thinking. It was always a difficult line for her to distinguish when it came to what was real and what she felt. She knew that when it came to both of them though that she tended to be more biased about things. “First you speak to the person you love and tell them how you feel. If it’s who I believe it is his head is too far up his own ass to realize anything but once he does realize you love him as much as he does you I personally vote that the two of you run off and elope but then again what do I know?”

“They were the most entertaining thing to watch.” She let out a chuckle and moved away slightly when her sister poked her side, being a very ticklish person herself. Elsa found the whole thing entertaining because she knew her siblings weren’t actually arguing with one another, they were never serious arguments, just stupid fights that kids had. “I don’t know … I would like that, but I don’t want to get my hopes up, you know? I don’t want to get disappointed and hurt again … I’m scared, of letting myself love again.“ She said with a frown. 

“Well I’m sure they haven’t gotten any less entertaining the older we’ve gotten,” She admitted laughing lightly knowing that if anything their arguments were even more entertaining now. “Don’t be scared though. If you’re too afraid to fall in love then you’re never going to fully live your life again. You deserve to be happy and you can fight me on that as much as you want, Ellie. Because you do. You can’t hold back on your life.”
