i find it odd and actually quite annoying when some people are adamant about forcing the masc title onto azzi. even in a joking manner it seems…weird. she’s never called herself that and never gave that impression to have wanted to be placed under that title. infact she presents very feminine in almost every aspect of her life. i think it also speaks to how easy it is for people to masculinize black women especially those that aren’t hyperfeminine, in a way that people don’t do for white women. and it may just be the culture of women’s basketball to lean towards masculinizing all women (which is a bigger issue in itself) or people not being able to view the women in queer relationships as feminine (another bigger issue) but i still think it is weird how often it happens to feminine black women. and to make matters worse 9 times out of 10 it’s white women who are making the posts which furthers my point that these types of posts/jokes furthers the bigger issue of black women constantly having their femininity robbed (or having to go above and beyond to “prove” their femininity)
