Behold the magic of compaction dynamics. Scientists from Mexico and Spain dumped 25,000 tiny dice (0.2 inches) into a large clear plastic cylinder and rotated the cylinder back and forth once a second. The dice arranged themselves into rows of concentric circles. See the paper and the videos here.

Eddie on his lack of football skills:

“My whole family support Arsenal & when I was a kid I used to get taken until they basically lost every match that i went to so it was assumed that I was a bad luck emblem, so I was never invited back. Total win-win for me! Then on Christmas my brothers would want to play football & I’d be sort of ‘go on, Eddie, you join in’ so I’d go along. It transpires that what I lacked in talent, I’d make up for in viciousness & I’d just sort of hack away at their… I’d try to commit fully, because isn’t that what footballers do, they commit? So I’d just hack away at their shins.”
