I also find...sometimes for fluidity...copying a photo can be more informative if u do it a few times til you Get it. Practicing how to get the essence of an expression (or pose) instead of what's infront of u (which is often more muted and harder to read), seeing which things are essential, and which parts can be pushed or simplified to get it across better etc.
idk if these are Good examples, it's a little embarrassing to share as though I did it well, sometimes I lost the initial vibe or lost the angle etc, but I learned a lot!

i really really like winston/egon (second to polybusters of course) and their scenes in RGB are legiterally so cute. do you have any commentary/headcanons of any genre for them? thank you ! :)
I LOVE PROTONBLAST honestly, they are so great. Their relationship is very interesting to me because Winston is neither a scientist nor a walking annoyance (and mostly ships and dynamics that ppl like include either two characters who have similar interests or opposites that attract). These two a completely different thing and I love them!!!
When it comes to their dynamic, first, I must say that Winston LOVES Egonâs science talk. Thatâs not even a hc, thatâs canon. This man might not understand it all fully, but he likes listening to and watching Egon do his thing. I also like to think that Egon may sometimes explain the mechanisms and processes behind certain things that they encounter and Winston is eager to learn bc he loves his job (and the way Egon teaches, which isnât surprising, dude was an instructor in uni).
Overall, I think their relationship is quite gentle, idk how to really explain. They are there for each other a lot when needed, Winston looks after Egon whenever the guy overworks himself for multiple days in a row, and is mostly be the one to get him to rest. He always knows what words to use, and at the end of the day, even if Egon would decide to be extremely stubborn, he can always just pick him up and carry him to bed, as we saw on numerous occasions.
I also have this hc that Winston is great at massages, and that Egon would have a sore back from sitting around a lot and carrying a proton pack almost everyday (and I bet he also has scoliosis but thatâs more of me projecting) and Winston would be the one to give him back massages đŤś
Pics related!!
Useful Ghostbusters resources/sites that I like to use ->
Images.
GBfans' image gallery (features subcategories for all 5 movies, the cartoons and props across all films, has screenshots, bts, art, etc.)
Ghostbusters official gallery and archived assets on the GBwiki
'Ghostbusters: The Ultimate Visual History' archived on Internet archive, this one is so good for all manner of character and prop design art
Screencap collection (as described)
Ghostbusters Reference Library, archive of reference materials for all 5 movies and the game. Thank you to this anon for informing me of it!
GBprops (I believe this got meshed with GBfans but the original site has useful fan and canon reference images for equipment, ie. proton packs)
Reading.
Archived copies of the novelisations are available both on the Internet archive and Spookcentral. Ghostbusters I has two novels, one by Larry Milne and the other by Richard Mueller. II has a few, but the two most 'adult'-orientated one's were by Ed Baha and B. B. Hiller (I've linked the IA copies, but you need an account to borrow these, pdfs are available for free on SC)
Scripts for Ghostbusters I and II
'Making Ghostbusters' by Don Shay scan archive (also has lovely concept art and bts images)
'Ghostbusters: The Videogame' guide, surprisingly full of interesting tidbits and character writing (and the stylised one here - shorter and less in depth)
Misc.
Spookcentral (great for most archived copies of scripts, books, deleted scenes, some bts, etc. for gb1/2 and afterlife)
Role-playing manual. Interesting assets, ideas and some fun illustrations
GBnews!! All sorts of assorted fun things here
The archive of Ghostbusters HQ (now defunct), has all sorts of fun, older goodies on it. I just enjoy browsing old sites I think
Ough. I love them so much. OughH.
Dad.
Peter is fuckep up. We know that, but he's so good at playing in the social place and switching moods. When they go taking the money at the bank, he's certainly the one doing all the process and the one looking clean. And when they buy the firehouse he looks like a dad asking the children " do you like the house ?" " do you see yourself in this bedroom?". And after he gauge between the two and BAM there is the firehouse.
He's a dad. He's the one directing the construction (when they put the signs ghostbusters), and when Ray found the car look at his face palm and bvrzifjok^dz$
I don't have the impression to be clear, I'm rambling. I'm dispersing myself (is that grammatically correct?,dispersing myself?) BUT
-> I like him when he act like this
"it just seems a little pricey" yes dad, I know you have to pay the charges and to nourish your kids
how do you think the boys (janine too if youâd like) react when one of them gets hurt (physically, mentally, etc etc) on a bust? đ
Good question! I think none of them would act irrationally if itâd be a basic injury or scare, but if they saw that whatever happened was more serious than what they usually have to experience, they would absolutely prioritise each other over the job. We kinda see it in âThe Bogeyman Is Backâ when Egon falls off the building and the others immediately forget all about the ghost, rushing to save and comfort him.
Letâs imagine one of them getting really badly injured by a ghost, bitten to blood for example, kinda like how Peter was (Ray mentions it in the Drool ep), screaming out in pain, which alarms the others.
Egon would get immediately distracted by the scream and rush to the person to provide first aid (he canonically knows it). He would be very collected, maybe a bit frantic, but only asking important questions and not providing much emotional console just because of the heat of the situation.
Peter would run up to the person to hold and guide them to a safe spot, providing physical support and constantly asking if they are okay. During the first aid heâd sit near and ask Egon how bad the injury is.
Ray and Winston would most likely make sure that the others are safe and then focus on keeping the ghost away from their now vulnerable teammates and finishing the job, after which theyâd also run up to others and sit near, looking over the injury. Ray would provide his parapsychological knowledge to estimate the danger and treatment of the wound, while Winston would comfort the one who got hurt by half-hugging them or grasping their hand soothingly.
Janine would get immediately worried when the guys would arrive with an injured person on their hands and would make sure to scold them for being too erratic and impulsive on the job, while also being comforting and bringing them hot liquids and overall staying near because sheâd be just so concerned.
When it comes to a potential emotional scar from a bust, that can also be seen in âThe Bogeyman Is Backâ though they fuck it up in the middle of the ep. But I think Egon and Peter would NEVER admit they got traumatised, Ray and Winston would be more willing to open up, but they WOULD read each other like an open book and do everything in their power to provide comfort. They know each other so well that theyâd know the perfect way to approach without creating pressure or making the person feel inferior and weak, theyâre a family after all.
But yeah, they care a lot and would never leave each other after a bad moment âźď¸

credits for the gif @camyfilms.
This gif tells so much about the characters, the way they wear and wield their equipment while at their first job at the hotel silently processing down the hallway with their proton packs on their backs.
Okay first. We have Peter.
He isnât even holding his wand and still : he is the first to enter the hallway.
In the lift we are being told that the proton packs have not been tried yet, and itâs quite the significant information.
It shows their collective inexperience and a touch of recklessness (not due to a lack of want but definitely a lack of time - but letâs not speak about the short timeline of the movie here) as a whole team, yes, but thereâs something revealing in Peterâs casual bravado.
As much as he is described as âdoubtfulâ in the script, he still walks ahead, unarmed. Itâs not for the show here - there is no crowd - itâs more about how he instinctively trusts Egon to shoulder the technical risks behind him. Peterâs confidence here is more about delegation and trust than it is about style. Heâs for almost all of the movie considered as the face, the charm, the first impression; but here, in that first encounter, he becomes something unexpected : a casual protector, a shield. Peter is a man who deeply cares about Ray and Egon (and, later ,Winston too), and he hides it behind sarcasm. But in this gif, for a brief moment, we see him.
Second is Egon.
Every gesture is measured, both hands on the unfamiliar (yes itâs his creation - but it stays the first real time he is using it) weight of the proton wand : one on the trigger, one to stabilize the object. And unlike Peterâs open hands and casualness, Egon grips his equipment in both, as if the act of holding, calibrating, and controlling is itself a comfort. But he is also very tense about it, we can see it later in the script when it says :
But to go back to the gif - his eyes flick everywhere : he is into the unknown here, out of the comfort of his lab, of his indoors experiences - itâs outside and itâs real. And thereâs that little pop of his collar who becomes throughout that film and the second one an unconscious ritual - as if he pulling a piece of his uniform ordered the world around himself, making the chaos feel just a bit less alien (but for a deeper dive into it go on @1920secretsociety page).
For Egon, caution isnât fear. Itâs a form of care that we can see it in the gif. Itâs for the science and for his friends.
And then thereâs where Egon stands : in the middle, in between Peter and Ray. It isnât accidental. In that moment, Egon is both shield and shielded, the axis around which their trio turns. Peter strides ahead, Ray follows at his back, and Egon is held between themâtrusted to keep them safe, but also quietly cared for, their irreplaceable center, the one neither wants to lose.
And last, Ray.
There is so much to say about him. Right before this gif, he is the first one to go out of the lift : he is already prepared, proton wand in hand. He is the heart of the team, the loyal, the one we can always trust and count on. And the fact that he goes out first - it says everything about him but, again, another rant for another day.
In this gif, though, Ray takes up the rear, and thereâs something quietly profound about it. Itâs as if, by being behind Peter and Egon, heâs making sure no one gets left behind. Rayâs grip is firm, but thereâs a gentleness in it. He watches over Egon and Peter, ready to follow wherever the science leads, yet always present, always steady.
And then, there are the Ecto Goggles on his head : he is the only one who wears them, and itâs so perfectly him. Heâs not just ready to chase the ghosts everyone else can see; heâs prepared to search for the ones no one else even believes in (something that we can see more throughout the rest of the films - he is eager to discover, to learn, to meet). In that way, Ray isnât just the teamâs heart : he is also symbolically its eyes : open wide to every impossibility (specially these ones).
In just a gif, we can see the very soul of the Ghostbusters. Three men and their untested proton packs ready to face danger because they love each other so much and trust so deeply. They donât need words : everything is written in their posture, in the way they carry themselves and each other.
For a little moment here, we can see it :Â when facing the unthinkable, none of them ever has to walk alone.

âI would die for my kidsâ your children want an apology
your made up scenario isnât real (shocker) and makes no difference when your kids are starving for your acknowledgment of the pain you caused them. youâre only performing the role of a good parent, without having to actually do any heavy lifting
80 notes in 5 minutes. jesus christ please apologize to your children save them from this pain
because saying this soothes the part of their brain that knows the way they treat you isnât indicative of a good parent, this allows them to keep believing that they arenât a bad person because look at this huge sacrifice I made for you? nothing changed, just their own perception of themselves

I think people get the âBruce dancing like a stripper in the Iceberg Loungeâ situation all wrong. The batkids wonât die of embarrassment because thatâs their dad. Theyâll die of frustration because they will never, ever be able to make Bruce feel embarrassed about it.
Do you really think the man who would strip and bust it down for the secret identity has the capacity to feel shame? Exactly.
Letâs play a game called âguess the characterâs mental state based on how their living space looksâ
