Forgot to post this update! Pitcher and Petal's upstairs living space received a new coat of paint and the tiles for the bathroom were laid. I used Miyuki Tila beads because they were the right size and shape for the job. This is my first attempt at laying tile. I have modeling paste for the grout. Some more beads are on the way because I didn't have enough to line the wall as high as I wanted, and I'd like to use the extras for a backsplash behind the downstairs sink.

Sharing the stencils I made for the stained-glass windows. They are supposed to be bug themed and were all drawn by finger using an iPad, because I lost my stylus... I figure if I can draw it with my hand then it shouldn't be too hard to trace. Took about two hours. You're welcome to use these for anything. They should print to 1.5-inch squares for tracing (about three feet long in 1:24 scale). Just please tag me so I can see how it turns out.

01.31.26 Pitcher and Petal, the Frankenstein build.
Here's what needs to happen next:
Siding mistake - the house siding was cut too wide. I think I did look up the dimensions that siding can be at the time, but I don't like how it still looks off scale.
Replace plastic with plexiglass wherever possible - the kit came with flimsy plastic for the windows, and I want to use better materials.
Remove stone arch - changed my mind on that addition.
Finish adding hinges to the side wall - for easy access!
Level the tops of the first-floor walls so that the upper floor sits better.
Finish floors, wall paint, and windows for the top floor.
reinforce structural wall on the second floor so that a hinge can be added as well (?). This might not be necessary though.
Cut and glue support beams for the second-floor overhang.

Stained glass tests! I think Iβm going with gel nail polish officially. I used a toothpick and an eyelash serum brush, but if Iβm going to commit and buy more colors then I can get some nail art brushes.
The windows have all been prepped and need to be sanded and painted. I was originally going to use black ink but it did not go well. I will sharpie the parts that will touch the glass and paint everything else.
Now that I know what Iβm working with and how thick the lines need to be to look good, itβs time to digitize the designs and start painting the black bits.
I have a lot of schoolwork procrastinated until this weekend so that will unfortunately be the focus, but whenever I take breaks I plan to chip away at the miniature tasks.
Until then!

As soon as I finished making Bigtop Burger, I knew there was no way I'd be able to resist having a matching Zomburger as well lol
Someone on my post of Bigtop was wondering how long these took, and between weekends on evenings after work, they each took about a week to a week and a half!
Once again, mostly made out of cardstock and markers, with a couple pieces taken from a model car kit, some clear plastic from the windows, and a ridiculous amount of double sided tape and hot glue :P

Rhipheus House is going to feature real glass windows. Given that it's a Victorian, I am definitely going to include plenty of stained glass. I will also need to cut out the bottom panes of each window so that I can build ones that slide instead. With the bulk and texture of paint, I am worried that the sliding glass might get stuck or snag as they go past the upper panes. I'm deciding to stain them with black ink instead.
I've sketched out some potential designs. There are 24 of the basic rectangle windows that these designs are for. I've only drawn half of each one, so imagine them mirrored rather than as is. Each one is loosely based off of insect wings. I plan to trace over them using a drawing app to clean them up and make templates. You can see a draft of the house's first floor underneath the notepad.

01.24.26 I wanted to include some photos of what P&P was meant to look like. I received the kit as a gift, and it was well intentioned, but the color scheme... not my style. The pastels were... trying to be kind here... impractical at best and garish at worst. I'm not completely against lighter color schemes, but every boutique plant store I have been in was lush and dense with life. Picture instead: an interior where everything had been wiped with bleach and left to dry, over and over. Anything brighter than pastel was artificially so. Neon, even.
There were also some structural issues. Many of the features were not to scale (i.e. roses the size of your face), made no sense (ladder to an open roof, which contained a greenhouse with a random pond), and no hinges were included. I prefer more realistic miniatures. I want them to look like I could walk right in and live inside if I was small enough. That was not what this kit was intended for, which is not a fault. It was intended for someone that wanted to make something cute for fun. I like miniatures that are just for display, sure. But I feel like ones like P&P are made to be eventually discarded when the charm wears off or enough dust accumulates.
I decided that if I were to build it, the personal touch was non-negotiable. So, I have taken this poor, lighthearted kit and put it through the ringer. A great learning experience! And also, a way to make it nearly impossible to complete. Looking at the intended design motivates me and gets me excited about finishing it.
